Rise Academy, Kota www.rise.ac.in Innovations @ Rise Academy Innovations at RISE:‑ BOARD SUPPLEMENTS: We firmly believe that a student can excel in the boards and the IIT‑ JEE simultaneously. All he/she needs for doing so is a focused guidance and a little bit of extra effort. Our experience suggests that most students procrastinate their board preparations for the last few months. They do not realize that the time gap between the boards and IIT‑JEE is very little (around 15‑20 days). Due to their very little or no preparation they devote themselves solely for the boards during the months of JANUARY, FEBRUARY and MARCH. Once they are done with boards they now switch gears and start their preparation for the JEE.Over the years, we have seen this approach producing detrimental results for the child, either by spoiling their ranks in IIT‑JEE and even the selection in some cases. The basic flaw underlying this approach is to treat JEE and boards as two different exams. However, we do not blame the student for this. The sheer disregard of the so called “BOARD LEVEL PROBLEMS” by most of the teachers and institutes instills a sense of complacency in the child. They begin to study the same content with different objectives and viewpoints eg, “For Boards”, “For IIT”, “For AIEEE” etc. This leads to unnecessary and unwanted repetition, cluttering and above all confusion. We strongly urge any student who is reading this not to do so. You need to realize that at the end of the day the objective of all these exams is to test your knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The subject does not change with the name of the exam, what changes is the testing pattern. With the objective of providing a holistic solution to the children we have conceptualized BOARD SUPPLEMENTS. Board supplements are an Integral and comprehensive part of our pedagogy. They are the backbone behind our ideology of clubbing the IIT‑JEE and Boards together. Board supplements can be in any form:‑ solved problems, reading assignments, animations, test papers and even INTERACTIVE CLASSES. They would be structured in a scientific manner with the objective of maximizing a student’s performance in boards in minimum time.

    ThebasicflawunderlyingthisapproachistotreatJEEandboardsastwodifferentexams.However,wedonotblamethestudentforthis.ThesheerdisregardofthesocalledBOARDLEVELPROBLEMSbymostoftheteachersandinstitutesinstillsasenseofcomplacencyinthechild.Theybegintostudythesamecontentwithdifferentobjectivesandviewpointseg,ForBoards,ForIIT,ForAIEEEetc.Thisleadstounnecessaryandunwantedrepetition,clutteringandaboveallconfusion.Westronglyurgeanystudentwhoisreadingthisnottodoso.YouneedtorealizethatattheendofthedaytheobjectiveofalltheseexamsistotestyourknowledgeofPhysics,ChemistryandMathematics.Thesubjectdoesnotchangewiththenameoftheexam,whatchangesisthetestingpattern.

    WiththeobjectiveofprovidingaholisticsolutiontothechildrenwehaveconceptualizedBOARDSUPPLEMENTS.BoardsupplementsareanIntegralandcomprehensivepartofourpedagogy.TheyarethebackbonebehindourideologyofclubbingtheIITJEEandBoardstogether.Boardsupplementscanbeinanyform:solvedproblems,readingassignments,animations,testpapersandevenINTERACTIVECLASSES.Theywouldbestructuredinascientificmannerwiththeobjectiveofmaximizingastudentsperformanceinboardsinminimumtime.

  • OuracademicsareplannedinsuchamannerthatonceaparticulartopicinanysubjectiscompletedtheBOARDSUPPLEMENTisprovidedtothestudentssimultaneouslyandatestontheboardpatternisconducted.ThisensuresthattheboardportionistakencareofthenandthereitselfanditismandatoryforallthestudentsofRISEAcademytoappearinsuchtests.Pleaseunderstandthatthesetestsareconductedforyourbenefitandforauthenticandgenuineranking/gradingtheparticipationmustcomefromallthestudents.

    Olympiads:GovernmentbodieslikeHBCSE(HomiBhabhaCentreforScienceEducation)andIAPT(IndianAssociationofPhysicsTeachers)conductOlympiadsinthesubjectsofMathematics,Physics,Chemistry.Thereare3stagesoftheseOlympiadsviz.regional,nationalandinternational.TheseOlympiadsaremeanttoselectthebrightestofthecandidatesfrompanINDIAandwinninginoneormoreoftheseOlympiadsattheINTERNATIONALlevelisamatterofincrediblefameandsuccess.ItsabiggerandbetterachievementthangettingselectedintheIITJEE.ApartfrombringingimmenseselfsatisfactionandpridetheseOlympiadsgoalongwayingivingadistinctiveedgetoastudentscurriculumvitae.

    Keepingthisviewinmindwehavedesignedsegregatedacademiccontenttargetedspecificallyatthemathematics,physicsandchemistryOlympiads.Thiscontentwouldagainbeinasupplementformandastudentinterestedinaparticularsubjectcansticktoitforhis/herOlympiadpreparation.Classes,asandwhenrequired,fortheOlympiadpreparationwouldbeconductedfromtimetotime.TheseclasseswouldbeconductedinadditiontothescheduledIITJEEclassesanditisnotmandatoryforanyofthestudentstoattendthem.IfastudentdoesnotwanttopreparefortheOlympiadshe/sheneednotattendanyoftheclasses.IfastudentonlywantstoprepareforthephysicsOlympiadthenhe/shecanonlyattendtheclassesforsameandsoonandsoforth.

    TheuniqueaspectofourOlympiadpreparationisthatunlikeotherinstituteswehaveenoughacademicstrengthtooffertrainingforallthethreeOlympiads.AchildmayhavethepotentialtoscorewellinallthethreeOlympiads,butduetotheunavailabilityoffacultymemberswhocantrainthechild,mostinstituteskillastudentsinterestinothersubjectsandjustfocusonthesubject(s)inwhichtheyhavetheirfacultyavailable.Sinceourfacultymembersarecapableoftrainingforallthethreesubjects,wewillencouragethestudentstotesttheirpotentialinallthesubjectsandwearehopefulthatwellbeabletotrainastudentwhocouldgetgoldmedalsinallthethreesubjects.

    TechnologicalInnovations:

    ConceptbuildingProblemsCBPs(TheimprovedversionoftheDPPs):TheDPPsaretheonefactorwhichcanbesingledoutbehindKOTAsincrediblesuccessasfarIITJEEresultsareconcerned.ItisasetofProblemsassignedtothestudentwithobjectiveofrevisingalltheconceptswhichhavebeentaughttilldate.TheDPPsaresupposedtobesolvedwithina

  • certaintimeframeandareprimarilymeantforselfassessment.However,ourexperiencesuggeststhatmostofthestudentspresentlystudyinginKOTAtreatDPPsasaHOMEWORKwhichtheyliketodointheirleisurehourswithnocheckonTIMELIMITandSTRIKERATE&ACCURACY.TheverypurposeoftheDPPstobeselftrackingtoolsonadailybasisisbeingdefeatedbythisapproachofstudents.Moreover,overtheyearswehaveseenthatnoamountofmotivationhasworkedandthereisnoplausiblemannerinwhicheachandeverychildsDPPcopyismanuallycheckedonaregularbasis.

    ToovercomethisproblemwehaveenhancedtheDPPtoensurethatthestudentsactuallyATTEMPTtheproblemsinthespecifiedtimeframe.ThisenhancedversionoftheDPPwouldnowbecalledtheCBPorConceptBuildingProblem.TheCBPswouldbedesignedintheformofPowerPointSlidesandthestudentsaresupposedtosolvethemintheclassitself.TheyareNOTsupposedtowritedownthequestion.Theywillsimplysolvetheproblemandwritedownitsanswerintheirnotebooks.Toenhancethespeedagivenslidewouldonlyremainforapredefinedperiodoftimeandthenautomaticallythenextquestionwouldcome.AttheendoftheCBPstheanswerstoalltheproblemswouldbeshownandthespecificquestionsinwhichthestudentshavedoubtswouldbediscussed.

    Thisexercisewouldrestorethepurposeofthedppsandpreparestudentsforthestresslevels,accuracy,speed,andstrikeratewhichisexpectedfromthemontheJEEDAY.TheHARDCOPIES(PRINTEDCOPY)oftheCBPswouldbehandedouttothestudentslateronforfuturereference.
