InnovationsatRISE:
BOARDSUPPLEMENTS:WefirmlybelievethatastudentcanexcelintheboardsandtheIITJEEsimultaneously.Allhe/sheneedsfordoingsoisafocusedguidanceandalittlebitofextraeffort.Ourexperiencesuggeststhatmoststudentsprocrastinatetheirboardpreparationsforthelastfewmonths.TheydonotrealizethatthetimegapbetweentheboardsandIITJEEisverylittle(around1520days).DuetotheirverylittleornopreparationtheydevotethemselvessolelyfortheboardsduringthemonthsofJANUARY,FEBRUARYandMARCH.OncetheyaredonewithboardstheynowswitchgearsandstarttheirpreparationfortheJEE.Overtheyears,wehaveseenthisapproachproducingdetrimentalresultsforthechild,eitherbyspoilingtheirranksinIITJEEandeventheselectioninsomecases.
ThebasicflawunderlyingthisapproachistotreatJEEandboardsastwodifferentexams.However,wedonotblamethestudentforthis.ThesheerdisregardofthesocalledBOARDLEVELPROBLEMSbymostoftheteachersandinstitutesinstillsasenseofcomplacencyinthechild.Theybegintostudythesamecontentwithdifferentobjectivesandviewpointseg,ForBoards,ForIIT,ForAIEEEetc.Thisleadstounnecessaryandunwantedrepetition,clutteringandaboveallconfusion.Westronglyurgeanystudentwhoisreadingthisnottodoso.YouneedtorealizethatattheendofthedaytheobjectiveofalltheseexamsistotestyourknowledgeofPhysics,ChemistryandMathematics.Thesubjectdoesnotchangewiththenameoftheexam,whatchangesisthetestingpattern.
WiththeobjectiveofprovidingaholisticsolutiontothechildrenwehaveconceptualizedBOARDSUPPLEMENTS.BoardsupplementsareanIntegralandcomprehensivepartofourpedagogy.TheyarethebackbonebehindourideologyofclubbingtheIITJEEandBoardstogether.Boardsupplementscanbeinanyform:solvedproblems,readingassignments,animations,testpapersandevenINTERACTIVECLASSES.Theywouldbestructuredinascientificmannerwiththeobjectiveofmaximizingastudentsperformanceinboardsinminimumtime.

OuracademicsareplannedinsuchamannerthatonceaparticulartopicinanysubjectiscompletedtheBOARDSUPPLEMENTisprovidedtothestudentssimultaneouslyandatestontheboardpatternisconducted.ThisensuresthattheboardportionistakencareofthenandthereitselfanditismandatoryforallthestudentsofRISEAcademytoappearinsuchtests.Pleaseunderstandthatthesetestsareconductedforyourbenefitandforauthenticandgenuineranking/gradingtheparticipationmustcomefromallthestudents.
Olympiads:GovernmentbodieslikeHBCSE(HomiBhabhaCentreforScienceEducation)andIAPT(IndianAssociationofPhysicsTeachers)conductOlympiadsinthesubjectsofMathematics,Physics,Chemistry.Thereare3stagesoftheseOlympiadsviz.regional,nationalandinternational.TheseOlympiadsaremeanttoselectthebrightestofthecandidatesfrompanINDIAandwinninginoneormoreoftheseOlympiadsattheINTERNATIONALlevelisamatterofincrediblefameandsuccess.ItsabiggerandbetterachievementthangettingselectedintheIITJEE.ApartfrombringingimmenseselfsatisfactionandpridetheseOlympiadsgoalongwayingivingadistinctiveedgetoastudentscurriculumvitae.
Keepingthisviewinmindwehavedesignedsegregatedacademiccontenttargetedspecificallyatthemathematics,physicsandchemistryOlympiads.Thiscontentwouldagainbeinasupplementformandastudentinterestedinaparticularsubjectcansticktoitforhis/herOlympiadpreparation.Classes,asandwhenrequired,fortheOlympiadpreparationwouldbeconductedfromtimetotime.TheseclasseswouldbeconductedinadditiontothescheduledIITJEEclassesanditisnotmandatoryforanyofthestudentstoattendthem.IfastudentdoesnotwanttopreparefortheOlympiadshe/sheneednotattendanyoftheclasses.IfastudentonlywantstoprepareforthephysicsOlympiadthenhe/shecanonlyattendtheclassesforsameandsoonandsoforth.
TheuniqueaspectofourOlympiadpreparationisthatunlikeotherinstituteswehaveenoughacademicstrengthtooffertrainingforallthethreeOlympiads.AchildmayhavethepotentialtoscorewellinallthethreeOlympiads,butduetotheunavailabilityoffacultymemberswhocantrainthechild,mostinstituteskillastudentsinterestinothersubjectsandjustfocusonthesubject(s)inwhichtheyhavetheirfacultyavailable.Sinceourfacultymembersarecapableoftrainingforallthethreesubjects,wewillencouragethestudentstotesttheirpotentialinallthesubjectsandwearehopefulthatwellbeabletotrainastudentwhocouldgetgoldmedalsinallthethreesubjects.
TechnologicalInnovations:
ConceptbuildingProblemsCBPs(TheimprovedversionoftheDPPs):TheDPPsaretheonefactorwhichcanbesingledoutbehindKOTAsincrediblesuccessasfarIITJEEresultsareconcerned.ItisasetofProblemsassignedtothestudentwithobjectiveofrevisingalltheconceptswhichhavebeentaughttilldate.TheDPPsaresupposedtobesolvedwithina

certaintimeframeandareprimarilymeantforselfassessment.However,ourexperiencesuggeststhatmostofthestudentspresentlystudyinginKOTAtreatDPPsasaHOMEWORKwhichtheyliketodointheirleisurehourswithnocheckonTIMELIMITandSTRIKERATE&ACCURACY.TheverypurposeoftheDPPstobeselftrackingtoolsonadailybasisisbeingdefeatedbythisapproachofstudents.Moreover,overtheyearswehaveseenthatnoamountofmotivationhasworkedandthereisnoplausiblemannerinwhicheachandeverychildsDPPcopyismanuallycheckedonaregularbasis.
ToovercomethisproblemwehaveenhancedtheDPPtoensurethatthestudentsactuallyATTEMPTtheproblemsinthespecifiedtimeframe.ThisenhancedversionoftheDPPwouldnowbecalledtheCBPorConceptBuildingProblem.TheCBPswouldbedesignedintheformofPowerPointSlidesandthestudentsaresupposedtosolvethemintheclassitself.TheyareNOTsupposedtowritedownthequestion.Theywillsimplysolvetheproblemandwritedownitsanswerintheirnotebooks.Toenhancethespeedagivenslidewouldonlyremainforapredefinedperiodoftimeandthenautomaticallythenextquestionwouldcome.AttheendoftheCBPstheanswerstoalltheproblemswouldbeshownandthespecificquestionsinwhichthestudentshavedoubtswouldbediscussed.
Thisexercisewouldrestorethepurposeofthedppsandpreparestudentsforthestresslevels,accuracy,speed,andstrikeratewhichisexpectedfromthemontheJEEDAY.TheHARDCOPIES(PRINTEDCOPY)oftheCBPswouldbehandedouttothestudentslateronforfuturereference.
