Navitronic Basic

The next dimension in 3D control is the Navitronic Basic.It can do more than just conventional levelling, i.e. controlling the installation height and bank angle; the Navitronic Basic also controls the installation position automatically.

Precise installation position due to displacement sensors.In order to achieve the highest installation accuracy, the installation position is precisely controlled by the screed extraction parts. Displacement sensors on the pull-out parts determine the current width of the screed. The user has two options for adjusting the positional accuracy: Either he defines the left or right screed as a fixed installation reference - then is installed along this fixed edge, or he sets a fixed pave width, which over the entire length of the track exactly on the given Location is maintained. Thanks to the very precisely adjustable pull-out parts even deviations can be easily compensated by the steering of the paver through the width adjustment of the screed.

With the Navitronic Basic, the driver controls the installation direction manually. He gets the track and position of the paver on the display of the 3D control exactly displayed and can thus lead the machine precisely without artificial reference.

Navitronic Plus

The Navitronic Plus offers the highest expansion level in terms of 3D control for road pavers.It has the same features as the Navitronic Basic, which means that the leveling and control of the installation position are fully automatic. In addition, the system now handles the steering of the VÖGELE tracked pavers. This makes the Navitronic Plus a "true" 3D control system, which in this way is only offered by VÖGELE.

Automatic control of the installation direction.The Navitronic Plus directly engages the track of the tracked paver via the machine control. Thus, the paver whose current position is permanently recorded by the laser total station or GPS system is guided along the planned route fully automatically. On the display of the 3D control, the installation team can check the position of the paver and any deviations from the target line. The 3D control is a patent of JOSEPH VÖGELE AG

The Spray Nozzles

Two different types of slotted spray nozzles:– Size 10 nozzles: 100% throughput (standard)– Size 16 nozzles: 160% throughput

The spray nozzles are opened and closed pneumatically by means of a compressed air system integrated into the SprayJet module for this purpose.

The nozzles do not spray continuously but operate instead in pulsed mode.

All the settings required for replenishing, circulating and heating the emulsion can be controlled and monitored directly via the touchscreen.

Depending on the type of nozzles fitted and the rate of spread selected, the maximum pave speed is calculated by the SprayJet module‘s control system and displayed on the ErgoPlus 3 paver operator's console to guarantee uniform application of the emulsion.The rate of spread can be set here very easily and the nozzles calibrated or switched on and off individually.Correct operation of the front spray bar is monitored electronically, as it is out of the operator's sight.Lines and valves are cleaned in a fully automated process controlled by a separate program.

Control Panel for SprayJet Module The SprayJet module is operated entirely via the ErgoPlus 3 control panel installed on the module. The new "Dash 3" generation VÖGELE spray paver offers a host of convenient automatic functions to meet practical needs.

The automatic functions simplify preparation of the spray module, the spraying process itself and maintenance of the spray module.

The entire spraying process is monitored on this screen. The operator can see all settings and values at a glance here, such as spray nozzle activity (active / inactive / switched off) and spray pressure.

MT 3000-2i Offsetalternates between binder course and surface course mix, transporting each material to the respective paver.

SUPER 2100-3i IP lays down the binder course and transports the surface course mix by means of a special transfer module. Is a modified standard paver.

AB 600 TP2 PlusHigh-Compaction Screed with pulsed flow hydraulics for the two pressure bars. This screed compacts the binder course to such a degree that it can be driven over by the surface course paver.

The paving methodWhen using the "hot on hot" process, a different ratio of surface to binder course may be selected. Instead of the usual 8cm-thick binder and 4cm-thick surface course, it is possible to pave a surface course just 2 to 2.5cm thick. What is more, a tack coat (bitumen emulsion) is not required.

Advantages of the "hot on hot" process

Cost savingsThe process saves on expensive bitumen-rich surface course mix, instead using more lower-priced binder course mix with a high stability and a greater resistance to deformation. There is no need to spray bitumen emulsion, which saves time and material.

Longer service lives of road pavementsThe optimal interlocking of the binder and surface courses guarantees an excellent bond between layers. Furthermore, the surface course can be compacted effectively, achieving a sufficiently low voids content –a factor which extends the pavement’s service life considerably.

Using a higher proportion of binder course mix with a high resistance to deformation and a lower proportion of bitumen-rich surface course mix increases the pavement’s stability. Deformation and rutting are reduced substantially.

Easy paving in low-temperature regions or during the cold seasonWhen the binder and surface courses are paved simultaneously, the total thickness ensures that the pavement does not cool as quickly. The period of time available for compaction is prolonged, so that paving work can be carried out to a high standard of quality even in cold weather.

"AutoSet Plus" incorporates two handy automatic functions: the Repositioning and Transport function makes it easier to change between work sections on the job site and transport the machine between sites. The paver is automatically set to transport mode at the push of a button and the current settings are saved. Current paver and screed settings are stored using the Paving Programs function and can be retrieved when required at a later date, for instance, on job sites where conditions are similar.
