There are many main features on this
double page spread from Kerrang
magazine. The left side page features a
main image in black and white of an
artist singing live in concert. This image
immediately implies the genre of the
music magazine, as the artist is wearing
dark denim clothes with longer hair
covering his face. The lighting of the
image is also very low key, depicting a
heavy and bold rock genre of music.
There are 3 other images featured
on the double page, also in black and
white. These images follow similar
themes to the main image on the left
side of the double page, therefore
also creating the rock genre theme.
The title of the article is placed at
the top of the right side of the
double page. The headline is in bold,
capital font immediately catching
the eye of the viewer. The article is
placed underneath the title, in 2
short columns. The article text is in
white, placed on a black background
therefore making it easy for the
audience to see where it is placed as
there is many elements on this
double page.
In the top left of the left side page,
there is a coverline that reads
“World exclusive” the text reads in a
white capital font and is placed on a
red background. These words
immediately attract the viewers
attention as they are placed in the
primary optical area. This feature is
used to convince the viewer to buy
the magazine, as if the article is a
world exclusive they will not be able
to read it anywhere else.
This page follows a very strict colour
scheme of red, black and white. The
background is in black, therefore
causing everything in white and red
to stand out and catch the
audience’s attention.
In the top left corner of the left side
of the double page, there is a
element that says “Visit
Kerrang.com for all the latest news”.
This is advertising the magazine’s
website, therefore generating more
interest from the viewer, which will
possibly result in more sales.
