Type I ADF Concentrate
Inland is an approved manufacturer
of Type I Aircraft De-icing Fluid [ADF]
using a feedstock comprised entirely
of re-manufactured glycols. Our Type
I ADF concentrate meets or exceeds
the specifications of AMS 1424L and
is fully compatible with Dow Chemi-
cal’s UCAR Type I ADF. Currently,
Inland manufactures at Halifax Inter-
national Airport and production will
begin at Calgary International Airport
in 2017.
Each winter season, Inland recycles
hundreds of millions of liters of glycol
impacted stormwater from airports.
This contaminated stormwater typi-
cally contains millions of liters of
glycol that is reclaimed for reuse as
feedstock for aircraft de-icing fluid
and other industrial products.
Inland’s recycling process begins with
our patented Glycol Concentrator.
The raw effluent is treated initially to
bring the glycol content to about the
50% level. This is followed by a distil-
lation process using our Starcevic
Distillation System™. A multi-step
polishing removes trace contami-
nants and by the time the material
enters our system for re-use, we’ve
produced an ethylene glycol product
that is over 99%.
As our operations are typically at or
nearby an airport, we are able to
offer increased reliability and on-
airport availability of ADF, as is the
case in Halifax.
Inland is able to provide the airlines
with a continuous supply of Type I

Inland’s Type I ADF Concentrate is based on a formulation of re-claimed glycol feedstock and manufactured at airport locations to offer increased reliability and availability.
ADF that is chemically equal to
Dow’s UCAR, but completely formu-
lated from recycled glycol. In fact,
independent laboratory testing
could not differentiate between a
sample of Inland’s Type I ADF and
Dow’s UCAR produced with “virgin”
quality material.
Through the use of Inland’s re-
claimed glycol and the significant
reduction in transportation required
to ship Type I ADF from an off-site
facility, the carbon footprint associ-
ated with de-icing is reduced.
