A SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE HEAD OF SECONDARY RELATIONS

As many of you know, this spring I had the pleasure of joining the InitialView team to help with its expansion into secondary schools. When I first met Terry and Gloria and heard about InitialView over three years ago, my first thought was that I would have loved to have a service like that in place when I was the Director of International Admission at the Northfield Mount Hermon School. Since then, InitialView has quickly established itself as the interview platform of choice in higher education. I think boarding schools should benefit in the same way that colleges and universities do. After all, most boarding schools are run like small colleges. Not only does InitialView have the best technology, our price is right: we are free to the school, and the students pays a one-time fee of RMB 1200 (less than USD 200) for the interview and writing sample. This means InitialView is a great choice for smaller schools that might not want to pay a high yearly fee. Several schools have been working with us on a pilot basis, and this year we anticipate ten to fifteen top boarding schools will be using our interviews. InitialView is so confident that it has the right solution that it does not require any exclusivity or long-term contract. I hope you will spend some time examining both the quality and value that InitialView offers. I am always available to talk further about how InitialView can support you in your efforts, and we wish you best for this admission cycle.

With best regards, David Wivell

WHAT SETS US APART !

6

SCOPE Each applicant has three options for the interview:

(1) Our Beijing office offers interviews at any time. (2) We have an extensive network of cities where we offer interviews

during the admission cycle: Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou, and Shenyang.

(3) We can offer our interviews via webcam to anyone in the world at any time.

CONVENIENCE Students can sign up, select a location and time, and pay online. Even during crunch time last year, we were able to provide an interview to every student who requested one. TECHNOLOGY Our patent-pending platform provides admission officers with the richness of an unscripted interview while also ensuring that English ability can be confirmed in as little as 30 seconds. CERTAINTY As students are reminded during our interview process, our videos are preserved to prevent fraud. The interviews themselves are interactive, unscripted and focused on the student’s own background and interests. Given the preserved record and the personal focus of the interviews, students looking to cheat would almost certainly opt out of the interviews or just apply to schools which do not make interviews part of their process. INDEPENDENCE We do not do any interview training of any sort. We do not allow for retakes. If a student wants to interview again, it must be 30 days later with a different interviewer. The most recent interview is the interview we provide to schools. COST We are free to the school. Our cost to the student was a one-time fee of US$95, which included all of the schools to which the student was applying (on a per school basis, the cost to the student was often US$5-10). We anticipate that our cost will increase slightly in 2013-2014.

YEAR TO COME !

9

SIGNIFICANT GROWTH Based upon the number of universities and high schools who are looking to benefit from our interviews next cycle, we are expecting to do many times the number of interviews we did last year. OTHER COUNTRIES We have been piloting webcam interviews with students from countries other than China, like Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, and India. Next cycle we will be able to provide interviews for all international applicants who can find an internet connection. We are also considering offering in-person interviews in some cities outside of China. NEW TECHNOLOGY We will soon launch “InitialView 2.0”, a patent-pending interview management system for admission officers. You will be able to internally manage the interviews, solicit the opinions of colleagues, professors or alumni during the review process, and rate the interviews in a systematic, secure and school-specific fashion. Even schools with thousands of interviews will find that benefitting from an information-rich, unscripted interview will take literally only seconds per application. GRADUATE SCHOOLS This year we had numerous students proactively make our interviews part of their application to U.S. graduate schools, ranging from MBA programs to Masters in Public Policy. In response to this demand, during the next cycle we will be offering interviews tailored for applicants to graduate programs. HIGH SCHOOLS In the spring we had the honor of David Wivell, the former international admissions director at Northfield Mount Hermon, joining our team as the head of secondary school relations. Thanks to his efforts, we are off to a brisk start as applicants to U.S. high schools have already started pouring in. INTERNSHIPS AND JOB PLACEMENT There is no question that we learn the most from our interviewees, and we already have students from last year who want to use our interviews this year when looking for an internship.

APPENDIX: LIST OF SCHOOLS !

"""""""""""""!#!"Actively receiving" means schools which had either directly confirmed to us or to students that they were accepting our interviews, or were publicly recommending or requiring our interviews. This list continues to expand as the number of students doing our interviews grows and additional schools confirm that they will accept our interviews. However, we respect the wishes of institutions and will communicate to students if a school has told us that it does not accept our interviews.
