‘STAY ALIVE’ SCRIPT
ESTABLISHING SHOT – OUTSIDE AN OFFICE BUILDING - DAY
INT. OFFICE CUBILE – DAY
DAVID is sat at his desk, TAPPING his pen against the table, staring at a
picture of a fishing boat hanging on the wall in front of him.
DAVID
(Face leaning on his right hand)
Sigh
SLAM! Paper is slammed down into DAVID’S lap.
A small man seeming to be DAVID’s boss (STANLEY) stands directly beside
DAVID TAPPING his foot impatiently.
DAVID looking frustrated and fed up turns and looks at STANLEY.
STANLEY STARTS SHOUTING (shouting its muffled), waving his hands around,
and eventually throws his car keys at DAVID, whilst pointing outside.
Highlighting that he wants DAVID to go and get his car washed for him.
DAVID even more fed up and annoyed gets up and heads outside.
EXT. OFFICE CARPARK – DAY
DAVID walks over to the car. Before he gets in, he turns and looks back up
at the window seeing that his boss is staring down at him to make sure he
does his task.
INT. CAR – DAY
DAVID gets inside the car and SLAMS the door shut.
He drives off and as he’s driving he starts noticing all of these different
billboards that he’s passing that are advertising and promoting fishing
trips and fishing equipment i.e. rods and boats.
DAVID continues to drive on to the car wash trying to forget about the
billboards and advertisements. As soon as he feels like the distraction has
gone he comes to a set of traffic lights.
The sound of muffled music gradually appears as a car pulls up alongside
DAVID. He rolls down the car window and takes a look.
He notices that the man looks rather worldly as if he had a lot of world
experience, travelling etc. He takes a second look and notices that he is
towing a small fishing boat behind his car.
The traffic lights turn green and DAVID speeds off down the road nearing
the car wash.
With the idea of fishing now firmly on his mind, he slows the car right
down before turning into the car wash.
DAVID pauses…
He thinks back to his fishing boat photo hanging on the wall of his cubicle
and instead of pulling into the car wash he drives off again down the down.
As he drives he leans over and turns on the radio
BEGIN “STAY ALIVE” <BY JOSE GONZALEZ>
A phone starts RINGING!
DAVID realises that he is being rung over and over again by his boss,
wondering where on earth he is. DAVID decides not to answer.
As the phone continues to ring DAVID starts become more panicky and
frantic, second guess whether or not he made the right decision.
He worryingly starts thinking about his past and what he’s leaving behind.
The tension builds as he misses call after call after call.
Suddenly DAVID SLAMS ON THE BRAKES!!!!!!!
He takes a moment to breathe and think. He leans on the open window as he
begins to wonder what if.
The phone RINGS once more.
DAVID looks at his phone as he notices that he has missed 15 calls and that
this time his boss has left a voicemail
STANLEY (O.C.)
(ANGURALY)
If you’re not back in five minutes, you are FIRED!!!!!
After hearing this message DAVID stops fearing the past and takes in his
decision. He starts the car up and drives off again, with no intention of
turning back this time.
DAVID not really knowing where he’s going, starts thinking and day dreaming
again.

DAVID walks to the edge and peers down.
As he looks down he sees a huge pier/ fishing dock with hundreds and
hundreds of fishing boats all tied up.

and smiles.
