    David wrote in Psalm 127,

    1. Except Jehovah build the house, theylabor in vain that build it: Except Jehovahkeep the city, the watchman waketh but invain. 2. It is vain for you to rise up early, to take

rest late, to eat the bread of toil; for so he giveth unto his beloved sleep.

    3. Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah;and the fruit of the womb is His reward.4. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so

are the children of youth. 5. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: They shall not be put to shame, when they speak with their enemies in the

    gate.

I feel like weeping when I think aboutthe tragedy of more than 1.5 million

babies murdered in their mothers' wombsin the United States every year.Abortion has turned the womb into a

    tomb.

I wonder what those presiding doctors and

nurses would think if they read Psalm 127.Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah;and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Asarrows in the hand of a mighty man, so arethe children of youth. Happy is the manthat hath his quiver full of them: They

shall not be put to shame, when they speak

with their enemies in the gate. (verses 3-5). The psalmist tells us that children arewealth -- a heritage and inheritance from the

    Lord.

What are we to do with wealth? First,we accept it. When our children cometo us, we accept them. They are God's

gift to us, a treasure . We protect our wealth, and we ought to protect our children. It's so wrong that many are not

    protected before they are born.

Then we are to invest it. We train our children, teaching them to liverighteously. Their lives become asinvested money, and the dividends startto return. One of the great delights of getting older is seeing those godly

    dividends. Children enrich our lives.

But children are also weapons-- Asarrows in the hand of a mighty man (verse 4). Who's going to fight God's

battles if Christians don't bring childreninto this world and raise them to knowthe Lord?

Whenever God wanted to do somethinggreat, He brought a baby into theworld--Moses, Samuel, David, John the

Baptist and our Lord Jesus Christ. Inthis world of sin, when truth is beingattacked on every side, we need to raise

our children to be able to stand withauthority and say, "Thus says the Lord."

Children are God's blessing but also agreat responsibility. Ask God for wisdom as you invest in and train your

children or other's children. Preparethem for the ministries He has for them and rejoice at the inheritance He

    has given you.
