Raylene Barclay has been busy working on her granddaughter’s wedding, in Owasso.

It was great to see Tom and Vicky Parker in church Sunday. I hear they have been having lots of fun traveling now that they are both retired. Go now, while you can still walk!!!

I’ve just been on a nice nostal-gia journey. I watched the 40th reunion of Saturday Night Live,

(you know, back when it was still funny?) It was fun to see King Tut, Roseanne Roseanna Danna, The Blues Brothers, Church Lady, Eddie Murphy and best of all, the demonstration of the famous “Bass O Matic.” It brought back fun memories when our girls were still at home.

A salesman was about to knock on a door, when he saw a little boy walk by. “Is your mother home?” he asked. “Yes” replied the boy. He knocked and got no answer. “I thought you said she was home” he asked. “She is. I live across the street.”

A little girl was at her first wedding. She observed the entire ceremony, and asked her Mom why the bride changed her mind? “What do you mean?” her Mother asked. “Well, she went down the aisle with one man and came back with another.”

See you in church, Ruthie

as selections of popular songs (Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Until There Was You, Pure Imagination).

Bring your friends and enjoy a delightfully entertain-ing program on February 26th.

Menu: Smoked chicken breast with sauteed bell peppers and onions, vegetable medley, garden sal-ad, bread and butter, and dessert. Lunch is $7.00.

Please make your reservation by Tuesday noon, February 24th by call-ing Sandra Lewis at 918-582-8237 or emailing her at [email protected].

HAPPY TIMERS

“Who is this Jesus?” That's the question we've been exploring the past several weeks. To be honest, though, it's a question Christians have been exploring for the past twenty centuries. From the shores of the Sea of Galilee where several fishermen (and dozens of others from around the area) heard the call, “Come, follow me,” to the hills and plains of the Judean countryside, from the streets of Jerusalem to the palaces of Rome, from house churches in Asia Minor to the four corners of the world, Christians from long ago sought to know him more. Stories were told. Traditions were begun. Letters were written. Gospels were composed. And to this very day, people still want to know who this Jesus is.

So who are we that would follow him? We try to learn what we can so that we can better follow, but if were honest then we know that we trip and stumble along the way. Sometimes it seems like we take more steps backward than we do forward! Nonetheless, Jesus called us and believes that we are up to the job, even our job performance might suggest otherwise. Perhaps in the midst of trying to know Jesus, we forget that Jesus knows us (and knows us better than we think). And he calls us to follow.

This Lent, we will be exploring

stories of Jesus on his way to Jerusalem with his disciples as they struggle with who he is and what he is doing, and along the way Jesus teaches them about not only his own mission but also teaches them about themselves. We will hear stories of miracles misunderstood, being willfully blind, struggling to believe in success, and suffering from kingdom-myopia. And we will hear stories of how Jesus's love can change us still.

As we prepare our hearts during this season of Lent, and as we prepare for the great celebration of Easter, may we not only continue to learn something of who Jesus is but also learn something of those who would follow him. Our journey to the cross and the Easter morning beyond begins Sunday, February 22. I hope to see you in worship with us.

Soli Deo Gloria, Rev. Michael

On Sunday, February 8, 2014 the youth took a field trip to BounceU. There they were able to climb, jump, moon walk, slide, play King of the Mountain and more! We had a great time having a “cosmic” glow-in-the-dark and black light party while playing and having a blast! We played for over an hour, enjoyed pizza and cupcakes and then returned to the church. The van ride

home was full of excitement, laughter and sharing sto-ries about their favorite part of the afternoon. Fun was had by all. A big shout out of thanks to Nick and Sa-mantha Cox for being sponsors on our great adventure. They drove the second van of kids and even enjoyed playing on all the bounce equipment as well.

Let there be light!

Over the last weeks, Dwight, Robin and Jason

have been fitting a huge project into their al-

ready busy schedules. We have teamed with

Voss Lighting and PSO to replace all the fluo-

rescent ballasts and light bulbs with energy-

efficient versions. This should save us about

$5,000 per year in electricity costs! Best of all,

PSO has given us a rebate that almost covers

the cost of the ballasts and bulbs. It’s a win-

win proposition that lets us be better stewards

of God’s gifts to us.

From the Pastor’s Pen Keyboard

Michael
