UMW REPORT

I would like to update you on what we have accomplished with our activities over the last few months.

In April the Call to Prayer and Self Denial Service was held during both the 8:30 AM and the 11:00 AM ser-

vices. This service was coordinated by Kristin Hill, our Spiritual Growth Coordinator, working with Rev-

erend Bowen and Music Director, Kim Savage, along with Gina Hagan and several other ladies.

On May 11th, our Cake/Dessert Auction was held in conjunction with the Family Night Supper. This Fund

Raiser for Missions was planned and coordinated by June Murphy and her husband Tom Murphy served

as the Auctioneer. June did an excellent job with this project and some people had a lot of fun with the

Silent Auction. We had a lot of cakes, desserts, cookies, and candy donated and people came ready to

bid on these items to help us earn funds for our mission projects. I am pleased and also very appreciative

to announce that we made $1,200 with this fund raiser, which will go a long way toward fulfilling our mis-

sion goals this year.

Due to changes in bulk postage rates, the church no longer has access to the cheaper rates, so we made

the decision to produce one booklet this year to honor both the Mothers and the Fathers. This worked

very well and I am happy to announce that we raised $1,258 for missions. (A big Thank You to Donna Wil-

son for typing and putting this special Mother and Father Honorarium and Memorial Bulletin together for

us.)

In May, at our Executive Committee Meeting, we realized that we had failed to do our end of the year do-

nation for VBS, so we took care of that item of business and donated $500 for the June VBS, which was held

June 5th thru June 9th and a great time was had by all. Thanks to all the UMW ladies who worked in the

kitchen preparing and serving the meals.

Congratulations to all our graduates this year! In May, we honored our graduates from our church by

presenting the High School graduates with a Study Bible and the College Graduates/Medical School

Graduates with a Devotional Book. Thanks to Many Lund for coordinating this project.

We are currently gathering names of children/youth from our church who will be attending Camp Glisson

this year so we can provide $100 scholarships toward their registration fees. Please get the information to

Janis Parkhill, our Treasurer, so she can issue the checks.

In July, each of our Circles will host either a Watermelon or Ice Cream social for one of the area nursing

homes. The residents always enjoy these socials very much and our ladies enjoy doing it as it is a heart-

warming experience.

Also, on July 31st, we will sponsor the Back-to-School Bash to provide school supplies for the needy in our

area schools, and in conjunction with that, we will provide a free hamburger/hotdog supper.

In September, we will sponsor another church-wide Mission Study, which will be coordinated by Sadie

Beauchamp, our Education for Missions Coordinator, working with Reverend David Bowen.

As always, we thank you for the generous support of our congregation as we work to raise funds for mis-

sions for women and children. Without your generous support, we could not do what we do.
