FIRE DESTROYS BUNNELL BUILDING

Cause of Fire Is Unknown—Erickson,

Johnson and Calligan Lose

Heavily.

Fire was discovered in the Bun- nell building behind the Valdez Sheet Metal Works last night at 9:30 and before the blaze was extinguished the occupants of the building lost

$1,500 and the building was damaged to the extent of $500.

How the fire started is a mystery. No fire had been made In the kitchen since morning. Coal put in the stove

shortly after breakfast had not ignit- ed and was still in the fire box after the flames were put out. It did not start from electric wiring because no

lights werep lated in the kitchen where the flames originated.

A trunk owned by Matt Larson was in the kitchen. It was complete- ly destroyed, indicating that the fire started in or near the trunk but from what cause is unknown.

The alarm was sent in after the building had been In flames for some

time and the fire department was

slow getting water to the building, and when the water did reach it, some one had turned the nozzle down, causing it to blow off, resulting In more delay.

John Erickson, Aaron Johnson and G. M. Calllgan lived in the cabin and lost everything. All their clothing, papers and the gatherings of years went up In smoke.

Vesuvius Is again in eruption and the inhabitants of the many small vil-

lages on the mountain side are flee-

ing for safety to the coast. Public

prayers are being made here to the

Almighty to have the volcano stop, and also that the people now in dan-

ger may be able to escape.

here projected with a background of nature itself. More than one hundred and fltfy people were employed in the

making of this film, which was staged under the direct supervision of Aug- ustus Thomas. For the principal characters a notable cast was provid- ed, headed by Cyril Scott as Lieu- tenant Denton, and Gail Kane as Bon- ita. Robert Broderick, who created the role of "Canby, the Ranchman,” in the original production, was secur-

ed by Mr. Thomas for the photo-play. During the performance Mr. Pinkus will read the election returns. In

spite of the cost of this feature the

price of admission will be only fifty cents, children twenty-five cents. This

great picture Is now being run on the outside to packed houses.

INGRAM TALKS TO THE VOTERS

Eagle liall was packed last night with voters who listened to a talk of an hour and a half by Represen- tative II. Ii. Ingram, who is a candi- date for re-election and who wanted to tell the voters what had been done at lift. lirst session of the Alaska
