I have been concerned about the erosion of SecondAmendment rights for some time. With the tragic oc-

currence at Newtown, Connecticut, especially in lightof this current presidents remarks both following thetragedy and previously, I am preparing for the worst.

The left-wing conventional media will have a feedingfrenzy and attribute the sole cause to gun access andthe right to own arms. Nowhere will there be talk ofthe moral bankruptcy inflicted upon the U.S. by the socalled progressive secularists, who have done all theycan to eliminate God from the statehouse, the court-house, the schools, from all public institutions and havedone all they can to take Christ out of Christmas. With

no substitute ethos for that of Judeo-Christianity, thesesecularist raised youths turn to celebrity as glorified byHollywood and violent video games and the media glo-rified gangsta subculture instead of developing a truemoral compass. Raised in an atmosphere of moral rela-tivity, ie thou shalt not pass judgment-there is NO rightor wrong, they thus have no concept of true right and

wrong nor of true good and evil.

I am sure the statistics probably reflect that morecrimes are prevented by an armed citizenry than are

committed with firearms, but we will never hear thisfrom the mainstream media or the Democrat party.

God save this country as he may be our last and onlyhope.

I may be a month behind but have to let you knowthat the two zombie consciousness articles from theNovmeber issue were wonderfully written, but I believethis is a subject that your readers are already aware of.Even people that do not read publications like InfoWarscannot deny the separation they see every day betweenpeople. Texting has replaced common conversation and

people glued to their cell phones annoy almost every-one. I wish I saw more solutions given in your articles.

For instance, you could give your readers tips on howto approach conversations about zombification withothers. It isnt easy to tell people they are wasting theirtime watching their favorite shows.

Before I left Austin for a 7 month west coast jour-ney, I was feeling the weight of Americas current sit-uation. The west coast restored my faith in the peopleof America. People are not just spreading awareness, they are acting on it. They are actively participation ina new model that hopefully will have a rippling effectacross the country. From building sustainable commu-

nities, daily demonstrations and protests to inspiringsocio-political street art. West coast people are beingproactive. We brought some Infowars magazine withus, and they were very well received.

Austin is lucky to have a charismatic, intelligentspokesperson like Alex Jones. Our home town is filled

with people and organizations working to make thingsbetter. The Food is Free project is one example. Con-

vincing neighbors to knock down their fences and sharea community garden in order to have a cheap, sustain-

able, healthy food source not to mention a connectionto your community is their goal.

We all know things in Washington are a mess, for lackof a better word, but We the People still hold a lot ofpower. If we stay informed, support one another andremain passionate about change. Encourage solutionbased thinking and report on it. Next article I want tosee is Ten Things You Can Do to Change the System.

Thank you for all that you do!

DEAR INFOWARS,The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy gave us the An-

swer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, andEverything as 42. But what is the question that makesthis answer intelligible?

Deep thought and the earth tell me that the questionlies in distribution The truth movement already hasenough truth givers, analysts and media, but it criti-cally lacks in getting the word out beyond itself. Eventhough many members of the public seem resistant,or even immune, to the truth, constant distribution ofthe truth will always wake up more and more people. Thus, by continually driving forward in the infowar,

we can have the truth reverberate throughout society, exposing most everyone to the truth, creating a newsocial environment and, indeed, a new social norm.We hence must take advantage of our most powerfuland protected weapon, the First Amendment, and useit in the most effective way to best save our societyand, in fact, save our souls.

However, we also need organizations to intelligentlycompile and package powerful truth information andto strategically develop a phalanx of issues, media and

distribution methods for an open, volunteer army oftruth distributors. While the organizations motivateand empower as many truthers as possible to wake upas many people as possible, the truther army is requiredto get the truth out to the public at large. This will wakeup more and more people, creating an exponentiallygrowing snowball of truthand truthers. An unstop-pable force!

I think that once we understand that the question isdistribution, the 42d answer from the creative geniusof Douglas Adams becomes intelligible: fortitude!

By the time you read this, 2012, the vaunted year ofabsolute cataclysmic destruction, has come and gone. But 2013 is a year that, from my research, will prove

to be seminal in the future of this republic. Imagineyourself, your family, your community, your countryat the center of a virtual crossroads. The decisions youmake and the actions you take in the next year willto a great extent determine the destiny not just of theUnited States but of the entire world.

In this January 2013 issue, you will see an articlerepublished from the waning hours of the 2012hysteria from Infowars.com by Paul Joseph Watson andmyself where we broke down the fact that 2012 wasan engineered, self-fulfilling prophecy-hoax to makepeople stand down and not be politically and culturally

involved. The reason we are republishing it is becauseit outlines the real threats that are still very present, and these threats not only endanger our species but theentire planet.

In our last issue, published three weeks beforethe Connecticut mass shooting travesty at SandyHook Elementary, we ran a cover image of PresidentObama, the puppet chief, sitting in a chair on top ofthe American flag with the cover-line This man wants

your guns. We could see the drum beat for victimdisarmament intensifying in November into December,

and only a fool would miss the warning signs. Its nothard to know what the establishments agenda is; theyhave carried it out with the same blueprint in countryafter country, where they exploit tragic school shootingsdespite the fact they are statistically one of the rarestevents out there. It was reported in 2012 that more than200 people died from deer jumping in front of theircars (Source: Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). However, that is not as sexy or scary as 88 people dyingin mass shootings and most of those incidents beinggang-related, with two different groups killing eachother. It is very sad to see those children harmed in any

fashion, but its even sicker to realize that the socialengineers are using their images and exploiting them inan attempt to disarm the American people.

Throughout history, slaves have been disarmed.People in communist China, in North Korea and in manyother authoritarian regime-ruled areas are disarmed

and live under the authoritarian gun. As Mao Tse Tung, the greatest mass murderer in history, said, Politicalpower goes out of the barrel of a gun,

The state-run media wasted no time blaming theindividuals right to keep and bear arms. A Fox Sportswriter came out and said the NRA was the new KKK, andhis statement was picked up and parroted by the rest ofthe mainstream media. What we are seeing is an all-outhysterical assault on the right to keep and bear arms andthe gun culture because the establishment realizes it isa culture that grows more and more popular as peoplerealize that you have to protect yourself, whether itis Katrina or hurricane Sandy. The government cantand wont help you; it is up to you to protect yourself.Because of this, people are rediscovering individualism,

which is why they have also demonized preppers, blaming them for the mass shooting. Its all sold via faketears of Obama and emotionalism and its the height ofthe absurd coming from Obama, a man who massivelyincreased drone strikes that have killed hundreds ofchildren conservatively in 8 different nations in just thelast year. This is the puppet, this is the authoritarian, this is the war monger who helped launch bombingcampaigns in 8 new nations and turned Libya and Syriaover to Al Qaida.

Just as Paul Revere rode through the countryside

warning that the British were coming to confiscate thepeoples guns, on the eve of what could turn into a new1776, I am here to tell you they are coming to, not justban the manufacture of semi automatic weapons, but tophysically confiscate them.

Before the globalists can complete Americas journeyon its road to absolute slavery, they must first disarmus. They must stamp out the true sign of individualism being armed and able to protect yourself before thereal social engineering can accelerate.

The cover story in this months magazine is titled2013: The Year America Dies? There is a question

mark because it is up to you; its up to all of us whounderstand historically the great danger that ourrepublic is in. It is up to us to take action and wakethe sleeping giant that is our dying republic out of themass mind-control coma that its in. In this issue welist just some of the overtly tyrannical things happening

and how this is a pivotal year. This is the year globalistshave decided to break this nation. The banksters havealready conquered the nations of the world and now

they want to conquer the people. But the biggest thingyou can do is fully awaken yourself. Dont believe whatwe say or what anyone says. Go research it, so that youwill discover that not only are we telling you the truth, but its much more serious than we can even describein this short letter. Then you must go out and awakenothers to the danger.

Everyone who still has any consciousness knows deepdown that things are off. Our road out of despotism into

victory is simple. Wake Up, get informed, set brush-firesin the minds of men and women everywhere. You arethe Paul Reveres of our time. If you are reading this

information, as Thomas Jefferson said, you are theresistance. The collectivists out there really believethe government is their friend and think they are partof some greater cause in giving up their individualism.Deep down you know thats a fraud. Deep down youknow thats not true. You know this is a predatorygovernment. You know this government is run byruthless foreign special interests, and that theyreengaged in their own survival-of-the-fittest program, battling each other for control and levers of power.

You know this government has done countless lethal

experiments on troops and foster children. You knowabout the multitude of crimes. And if you dont, I dareyou to go find out. But I think if you just sit in a quietroom and think about all of the crimes that governmenthas committed alongside the corporations that run it,there will be so many it will blow your mind. Sit downand write out the number of times the government haslied to you. Youll find its unlimited.

The future is yours. Either lay down to the New WorldOrder, or take control of your own destiny!

Will 2013 be remembered byfuture historians as the yearthat the United States ofAmerica for all intents and

purposes died as a Republic and was fi-nally seized by authoritarian globalistswho have already openly usurped gov-

ernments all across Europe?`A brief foray into the events that shaped2012 sends the clear signal that Americastands on the precipice of total collapseunless the full frontal assault on every-thing that characterizes the bedrock ofthe U.S. is reversed.

The globalists have already conqueredevery major government in the west andhave fully implemented their draconianpolicies in a uniform fashion. 2013 willlikely be the benchmark for when those

policies were truly visited upon the peo-ples of those nations and the consequenc-es laid bare for all to see.

The liberties that many Americans stillcherish and the freedoms they exerciseare not compatible with the despoticsystem that the global elite has in storefor the United States.

made back in 2011 to gun control advocate Sarah Bradyat a White House meeting during which he told her that

he was working on gun control under the radar.Riding parallel to the domestic assault on gun rightsis an effort to outlaw firearms at the international lev-el. The Obama administration has made clear its will-ingness to sign up to a United Nations global arms t rea-ty which threatens to outlaw guns in the U.S.

Final discussions on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) areset to take place in March next year. The New Americannotes that, Section III, Paragraphs 7 and 8 of the Pro-gramme of Action mandate that if a member state can-not get rid of privately owned small arms legislatively, then the control of customs, police, intelligence, and

arms control will be placed under the power of a boardof UN bureaucrats operating out of the UN Office forDisarmament Affairs, opening the door for UN peace-keeping forces to disarm American citizens.

Will 2013 see the Obama administration not onlymove to re-instate the assault weapons ban, but toeviscerate the Second Amendment completely?

NDAA JUSTIFICATIONFOR TYRANNYA recent amendment to the National Defense Au-thorization Act which legalizes the kidnapping and

indefinite detention without trial of U.S. citizens ac-tually doubles down the indefinite detention provi-sion and makes matters worse by explicitly allowingthe military to take Americans into custody.

Just like the Japanese were rounded up and put indetention camps during World War II, the NDAA nowgreases the skids for political dissidents to be targetedin the aftermath of a national emergency.

Will 2013 see the first Americans imprisoned secretlywithout tr ial under the NDAA, or wil l rights activists

kill this odious piece of legislation for good?

    EUROPE CONQUERED,

NOW AMERICAS TURNThe recent surprise announcement that Canadian

Mark Carney is to be appointed Governor of the Bank ofEngland means that the 2012 Bilderberg attendee com-pletes Goldman Sachs virtual domination over all themajor economies of Europe. The economies of England,France, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Belgiumare all now controlled by individuals who harbor a di-rect relationship with Goldman Sachs. The internation-al banking giant, notorious for its corruption and insidertrading, now has massive influence over virtually every

major western economy on the planet.During a recent CNBC segment, financial analysts

admitted to viewers that America is under the controlof a group of central bankers who are building a worldgovernment a damning insight into how the estab-lishment has dispensed with any pretense of tryingto hide their agenda as it is finalized. We are all nowslaves to central banks.A global government is now being forcefully pushed

as the solution to all manner of problems, but specifi-cally in relation to financial crises. We are being brain-

washed to accept the premise that centralized powerin the hands of a tiny elite is the only recourse, andthat a one world currency is inevitable.

Europe is virtual ly a done deal for the globalists, nowevery ounce of financial independence and every scin-tilla of economic sovereignty is to be sucked out of theUnited States as the bankers seek to put the final cap-stone on their pyramid of absolute power in 2013.

    SECOND AMENDMENT INTHE CROSSHAIRS

In the aftermath of the Connecticut school massacre, the authoritarians appetite for trampling the Second

Amendment has never been so voracious. In the faceof record gun sales, Barack Obama indicated in the af-termath of the shooting that he would pursue new guncontrol regulations via Congress, fulfilling a promise he

partment of Defense contains shocking plans for po-litical activists to be pacified by PSYOP officers into

developing an appreciation of U.S. policies while de-tained in prison camps inside the United States. The document makes it clear that the policies apply

within U.S. territory and involve, DOD support toU.S. civil authorities for domestic emergencies, andfor designated law enforcement and other activities, including man-made disasters, accidents, terrorist at-tacks and incidents in the U.S. and its territories.

Will a massive civil emergency in 2013 lead to Amer-ican citizens being interned in detention camps sim-ply for their political views, or will further exposureof these draconian plans force the government into

    mothballing such measures?

OBAMACARE: BANK-RUPTING THE NATION MORALLY & FINANCIALLY

While sending health insurance premiums throughthe roof, Obamacare will also set loose the cancer ofbig government to a level never previously witnessedin the United States.

With more than 20 new taxes being imposed on theAmerican people as a consequence of Obamacare, the IRS has been given hundreds of millions of extradollars to hunt down violators.

Small businesses across the country face the pros-pect of bankruptcy as a result of the crippling cost ofhaving to provide expensive health insurance cover-age for their employees. Congressional Budget OfficeDirector Douglas Elmendorf testified before the HouseBudget Committee that the Affordable Care Act wouldcost America 800,000 jobs.

Costs of products, food and services are also going to

spike even higher for consumers as businesses are forcedto raise their prices to cover the cost of Obamacare.Although Obamacare doesnt officially begin until

January 2014, some provisions will begin to apply in2013, and the effects of businesses having to preparefor its huge financial burden will send shock waves

through the U.S. economy during the coming year. The ethical implications of Obamacare also present a

huge threat to Americas moral backbone.President Obama has repeatedly expressed his sup-

port for the Medicare Independent Payment Adviso-ry Board (IPAB), a group of doctors that would makedecisions on cost cutting measures under Obamacare.

Opponents of government-run healthcare have dubbedthis a system of death panels that would have thepower to refuse treatment to the elderly or severelyill patients, a de-facto form of mandatory euthanasia.

In October, Obama adviser Steven Rattner acknowl-edged that rationed healthcare would be part ofObamacare, brazenly stating, We need death panels.

The idea that death panels would be introducedthrough Obamacare as a means of rationing healthcare

was also discussed during an Aspen Institute confer-ence in 2010 when Obama supporter Bill Gates arguedthat money should not be spent on treating the elderly.

Will the states rights movement manage to stopObamacare in its tracks, or will 2013 see the begin-nings of the imposition of mandatory health care causea major financial collapse in the United States?

BIG BROTHER BECOMINGPERVASIVEAmerica is being turned into the kind of surveillance

society that even George Orwell would have laughedoff as too crazy to contemplate. Microphones that re-

cord conversations are now being installed on bus-es throughout the country. Similar devices are also be-ing included with new smart street lights currentlybeing erected in major cities.

The new wave of smart technology in televisions, computers and cellphones is also ensuring that con-sumers are doing Big Brothers job for him, by bug-ging their own homes with sophisticated two-way sur-

veillance equipment, from TVs that spy on viewers toset-top boxes that utilize technology that records con-

versations in order to bombard users with invasive tar-geted advertising.

Virtually every new technological device now beingmanufactured that is linked to the Internet has the ca-pability to record conversations and send them back toa central hub. Is it really any wonder therefore that for-mer CIA director David Petraeus heralded the arrival ofthe smart home as a boon for clandestine statecraft?

Will a new renaissance for privacy rights begin todominate in 2013, or will Big Brother simply get moresophisticated in the plethora of ways it monitors

    American citizens?

NSA SPYING NO LONGERA SECRETNSA whistleblower William Binney recently re-

vealed that the FBI and other federal agencies recordand store the emails of all American citizens.

Binney also warned that the National Security Agen-cy is storing all electronic communications and analyz-ing them in real time, adding that the federal agencyhas a Google-style capability to search all conversa-tions for keywords.

Since 2008, the NSA has had the legal power to inter-

cept all phone calls, emails and text messages sent byAmerican citizens without probable cause. However, although long suspected, the agency has never admit-ted that it is analyzing the content of such messages, conceding only that persons, dates and locations arepart of the snooping process.

However, in a sworn declaration to the United StatesDistrict Court for the Northern District of California,Binney, a former NSA employee with the signals in-telligence agency within the DoD, divulged that thefederal agency, has the capability to do individualizedsearches, similar to Google, for particular electroniccommunications in real time through such criteria as

target addresses, locations, countries and phone num-bers, as well as watch-listed names, keywords, andphrases in email.

Will 2013 mark the year that the Fourth Amendmentwas enforced to scale back widespread eavesdroppingon the American people, or will mass surveillance con-tinue to grow and metastasize?

THE ERA OF DRONESA bill passed by Congress in February paves the way

for the use of surveillance drones in US skies on awidespread basis. The FAA predicts that by 2020 there

could be up to 30,000 drones in operation nationwide. In mandating absolutely zero privacy obligations for

drone operators, the FAA has given carte blanche fordrones to be used for constant surveillance, killing theFourth Amendment dead.As we have previously highlighted, the whole direc-

tion of drones and automated robot technology beingdeveloped by the likes of DARPA is all geared towardshaving machines take the role of police officers in pur-suing and engaging insurgents on American soil.

With more and more police departments and federal

agencies turning to drones, 2013 will likely see thembegin to flood American skies as the right to privacybecomes an antiquated concept.

    THE TSA OCCUPIESAMERICA

Despite being embroiled in constant scandals, abusesof power, and exposure of its workforce as pedophilesand criminals on an almost daily basis, the TSA is onlybeing given more power and funding.

The federal agency recently announced that it is

seeking permission from the Office of Managementand Budget to conduct security assessments on high-

ways as well as at 140 other public transportat ionhubs, including bus depots and train stations.

If approved, it would allow the TSA to conducttransportation security-related assessments during site

visits with security and operating officials of surfacetransportation entities.

In other words, get ready for TSA agents to be grop-ing Grandma on the interstate at some point in 2013.

Will the recent movement to stand up against TSA

tyranny snowball and lead major airports to kick outTSA agents and replace them with private screeners, orwill 2013 mark the year that the TSA became a literaloccupying army throughout America?

    FOREIGN POLICY:BACKING TERRORISTS,MORE REGIME CHANGE

The Obama administration is openly backing Al-Qae-da terrorists in Syria who after they have deposed

President Bashar Assad have vowed to attack the Unit-ed States in a bid to impose global Sharia law. Thesesame terrorists killed U.S. troops in Iraq and yet theadministration has signaled that hundreds of millionsof dollars in aid to the so-called rebels will be fol-

lowed by military might. In pursuing the same disastrous policy as it did in Lib-

ya, the U.S. government is virtual ly guaranteeing thatthere will be more attacks on U.S. interests like Septem-bers Benghazi assault led by the very same militantsput into positions of influence by NATO and the U.S.

Will 2013 see a more sensible approach to foreign poli-

cy or will the Obama administration continue to supportterrorists in order to dismantle the few rogue states leftin the world that are not controlled by the globalists?

2013: COLLAPSE, RE-BIRTH OR STAGNATION?Amidst the myriad of assaults on America as a free

country, the globalists themselves admit that a massuprising against this onslaught is beginning to under-mine the agenda for total authoritarianism. During arecent speech in Poland, former US National Securi-

ty Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski warned fellow elitiststhat a worldwide resistance movement to externalcontrol driven by populist activism is threatening toderail the move towards a new world order.

Will 2013 mark the year America died, or the year thatthe re-birth of America as land of the free, home of thebrave truly began? Or will we still be here in 12 monthstime lamenting the gradual decline and fall of the Unit-ed States as it slowly disappears off the pages of historyin a similar fashion to the former Soviet Union?

One thing we know for sure is that if 2013 is anything

like 2012 were going to be in for one hell of a ride.

1 Doomsday adherents cannot seem to agreeon precisely what catastrophe will befall theearth on December 21st. Will it be the emer-gence of Planet X or a combination of crip-pling global superstorms and extreme weatherevents? Unlike Y2K, which at least was a sin-gle, quantifiable threat, the Mayan prophecycomes with no specific warning attached, leav-ing it open to wild and inaccurate speculation.

The death of our world, the end of times, can come in many forms. If you are reading this, clearly you are all too aware that the world did not end on

December 21, 2012 as many predicted based on the Mayan calendar. But the death of the Republic, the death of financial independence and the death

of many freedoms have all emerged as real threats to our livelihood. In many important ways, a New Age of surveillance, domination and centralized

power has dawned upon us. Hidden government has surfaced, emerging into open tyranny, like the waxing and waning of the moon. This article we wrote

in December holds true-- that the predictions of a grand destruction at the end of 2012 only distracted from the lingering death by a thousand cuts that has

been wrecking society, and which will continue to destroy our world well into 2013 and beyond.

Forecasting that the world will not end on December 21st is hardly a bold prediction. However,

2012 hysteria has been an interesting study in affirming the fact that the establishment media

will only talk about such a threat at length when it really poses no threat at all while ignor-

ing or downplaying very serious issues that do pose a real danger to the future of the species.

4 The Mayans themselves were not toosmart as a culture in comparison to others,so why should we pay much attention to whatthey said anyway? The Mayans were incapableof inventing the wheel and thought that life

was a dream of the Gods, which is why theyroutinely made human sacrifices to stave off

the fear that the Gods would awaken and theworld would end. Why should we indulge inthe same deluded fears of such a primitive cul-ture?

7The Mayan prophecies contain absolutelyzero evidence that anything catastrophic will

actually happen on December 21st. The veryfew ancient texts that refer to Dec. 21, 2012treat it as a calendar milestone, but do notcontain prophecies of doom, says John Hen-derson, professor of anthropology at CornellUniversity.

    8

Most of the individuals whipping up thefrenzy are doing so for personal profit. InChina, Scam artists had been convincingpensioners to hand over savings in a last actof charity, reports the Telegraph. Othershave been selling end of the world surviv-al kits (a delicious contradiction in terms) cashing in on the hysteria.

9 Some people have used the supposed end of the world in 2012as an excuse to make apologies for the very real tyranny that we seeunfolding on a daily basis in a myriad of different ways. Armaged-don hysteria has been hijacked as a useful psychological justificationfor laziness and procrastination when it comes to educating others ormaking personal preparations for genuine crises that the world couldface in the coming years.

    10Many Christians have earmarked Decem-

ber 21, 2012 as either the date of armageddonor the second coming of Christ. However, thisignores the Bible itself which quite clearlystates that the end of the world will not beforeseen by man. No one knows the day orhour when these things wil l happen, not eventhe angels in heaven or the Son himself. Onlythe Father knows, states Mark 13:32.

6 The Mayan leaders once exploited manu-factured hysteria about the end of the worldto make their inferiors follow orders. Pos-sessing advanced knowledge of when solareclipses would occur, the elders would claim

that a snake was about to eat the sun and thatonly by obeying commands would the elderspermit the sun to return. Watching a subse-quent solar eclipse, the peasants believed thescam, thinking the elders had divine powersto make the sun disappear ensuring totalobedience.

5If you do think we should be paying atten-tion to the Mayans, then that also indicates Ar-mageddon is some way off yet. During a recentspeech, the National Council of Elders Mayas,

Xinca and Garifuna pointed out that the endof the Maya calendar has nothing to do withthe end of the world, noting that it merelyrepresents the end of one cycle leading to the

beginning of a new one. Its the time whenthe largest grand cycle in the Mayan calen-dar1,872,000 days or 5,125.37 yearsover-turns and a new cycle begins, noted Anthony

Aveni, a Maya expert and archaeoastronomerat Colgate University in Hamilton, New York.

3 Astronomer and NASA scientist DavidMorrison put out a YouTube video containing,Detailed rebuttals of five separate apocalypticscenarios on its website, including a meteorstrike, a solar flare and the so-called polarshift, whereby the Earths magnetic and rota-tional poles would reverse. And if you dontbelieve NASA, there are millions of amateurastronomers who are constantly stargazingand would notice any celestial threat to the

earth many weeks or months in advance.

2 The establishment media and entertainment industry in the west hasexploited the 2012 hysteria for their own commercial and tabloid-driv-en ends. Rest assured, you know its fraudulent when the system itselfis pushing it. Real threats to peoples livelihoods like the declining valueof the dollar, food shortages or threats to private retirement fundsincluding 401Ks and IRAs are all too real but not sexy enough to beturned into blockbuster Hollywood movies or prime time documenta-ry specials. Real threats to our environment like genetically modifiedfood, chemtrails or unstable nuclear reactors are sidelined in favor ofobsessing over inane fantasies about Armageddon.

    F

ollowing widespread outrage over the NationalDefense Authorization Act (NDAA) and its no-torious Section 1031 passed into law last year,in December Congress unanimously passed

what it describes as a more Constitut ion-friendly ver-sion of the legislation.

On the last day of 2011, President Obama signedthe 2012 version. It codified indefinite military deten-tion without recourse to the habeas corpus right to bebrought before a judge in a civilian court.

Habeas corpus has its origins in English common lawand was first codified in the Habeas Corpus Act 1679.The writ is based on the principles of the Magna Cartaproclaimed in 1215. The Magna Carta, or Great Charter, limited the legal action brought by the King of England

against his subjects. Obamas NDAA is the first time inAmerican history that military detention of civilians hasbeen codified into law.

During his presidential run against Republican JohnMcCain, Barack Obama promised to reinstate the ha-beas corpus rights seriously undercut by the Bush ad-ministration. Following the attacks on September 11,2001, the Bush administration imprisoned hundreds ofMuslims, whom the government said had associated

with terrorists, in Guantanamo Bay and other pris-ons without trial or judicial review. After the election,

however, Obama did not follow-up on his campaignpromise, and Guantanamo remains open.In response to outrage over the 2012 NDAA bill that

Obama promised to veto only to sign it into law af-ter the opposition was blindsided, Congressman ScottRigell and 26 other members of the House introducedH.R. 4388, the Right to Habeas Corpus Act, claimingthe bill would protect the Sixth Amendment right ofall Americans.

This year, through the incorporation of the Right toHabeas Corpus Act, the bill makes clear beyond a shad-ow of a doubt that every American will have his day in

court, a press release issued by the Armed ServicesCommittee states.

Is the NDAA 2013 an improvement over the previousversion? At first glance, it would seem so. Consider thefollowing clause included in the bill:

that you werent getting a trial [] Nothing in heresays that youll make it to an Art icle III cour t so it lit-erally does nothing, Dan Johnson, founder of Peo-ple Against the NDAA, told Business Insider. Its abunch of words, basica lly.

The new statute actually states that persons lawful-ly in the U.S. can be detained under the Authorizationfor the Use of Military Force [AUMF]. The original (thestatute we are fighting in court) never went that far,

Afran explained. Therefore, under the guise of sup-posedly adding protection to Americans, the new stat-ute actually expands the AUMF to civilians in the U.S.Although Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was portrayed

as a savior after he offered language to be included in

the 2013 version of the NDAA that would affirm theSixth Amendment of the Constitution and limit theindefinite detention of Americans, more than a fewobservers of his co-sponsored amendment said the ef-fort did not go far enough. It was, they argued, moremeaningless verbiage.

[The] Senate voted on Amendment No. 3018 tothe National Defense Authorization Act sponsoredby Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Mike Lee(R-Utah), and co-sponsored by Sen. Rand Paul, whichprotects the rights prescribed to Americans in theSixth Amendment of the Constitution with regard to

indefinite detention and the right to a trial by jury,Pauls Senate web page explains.

Senator Pauls amendment for all the good thatit does doesnt go far enough. Read the text of theproposal again. There is not one word of repeal or

abolition or revocation of the indefinite detention ofAmericans from the NDAA, writes Joe Wolverton forthe New American.A previous attempt to placate critics of the NDAA

resulted in the Gohmert Amendment (House Amend-ment No. 1126) which states that the NDAA will notdeny the writ of habeas corpus or deny any Constitu-tional rights for persons detained in the United Statesunder the AUMF who are entitled to such rights.

This amendment, like the one offered by SenatorPaul [...] displays an indefensible use of vague lan-guage that would make it vulnerable to challenge inany court in any state in the Union, but somehow addsto its appeal among the Republicans in Congress,Wolverton explains.

Others take a far more ominous view of the latestversion of the NDAA. In early December, Blake Filip-pi of the Tenth Amendment Center was interviewedby The Washington Times. Filippi said that under the

NDAA, the Patriot Act and similar legislation, theUSA has essentially been declared an active war zone[...] where our most fundamental constitutional rightsare undercut. What this means is that the Presidenthas been granted powers over the domestic citizenrythat are normally reserved for active battlefields. Inaddition to effectively striking down the Sixth Amend-ment, Section 1021 of the NDAA nullifies Posse Comi-tatus, the post-Reconstruction-era ban on the militaryengaging in civilian police duties.

Filippi said the 2013 NDAA is a monster in waiting. The legislation effectively destroys any protection af-forded by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights: Ibelieve that when war comes home when allegationsof domestic terrorism are used to deny fundamentalConstitutional rights our Constitutional Republic fac-es the biggest difficulties, he warned. For instance,

Article II Section 9 requires that Congress suspend thewrit of habeas corpus for indefinite detention to be le-gal. That has not occurred. Yet, Congress still purportsto imbue the President with the authority for domesticindefinite detention. What good is the Constitution ifCongress and the President purport to be above it?

The bottom line, Bruce Afran said, is that the latestiteration of the NDAA is still unconstitutional becauseit allows citizens or persons in the U.S. to be held inmilitary custody, a position that the Supreme Courthas repeatedly held is unconstitutional.

As the Hill reported, Senators Lindsey Graham,R-S.C., John McCain, R-Ariz., and Carl Levin, D-Mich.,all claim that Congress 2001 Authorization for Use ofMilitary Force does authorize the detention of citizens, even in the U.S., ProPublica noted following the pas-sage of NDAA 2013.

In other words, the hurried amendments and at-tempts to uphold habeas corpus are little more than amess of pottage. As of late December, the 2013 Senate bill still needed

to be reconciled with the version passed by the Senatein 2012. The House version, however, does not containan amendment addressing the detention section of thelegislation. Short of explicitly addressing the seriousflaws of 2013 NDAA, the military has little incentiveto make sure detained Americans receive their habeascorpus rights as stated in Article I, Section 9, Clause 2of the Constitution.

Kurt Nimmo is the editor at Infowars.com and theauthor of Another Day in the Empire: Life in Neocon-servative America.

Nothing in the AUMF [Authorization for the Use ofMilitary Force] or the 2012 NDAA shall be construedto deny the availability of the writ of habeas corpus orto deny any Constitutional rights in a court ordained orestablished by or under Article III of the Constitution forany person who is lawfully in the United States whendetained pursuant to the AUMF and who is otherwiseentitled to the availability of such writ or such rights.

However, according to Bruce Afran, a lawyer for agroup of journalists and activists suing the govern-ment over the 2012 NDAA, this is little more thansmoke and mirrors.

Because there are no established rules allowing acitizen to exercise the right to a civilian trial, as guar-anteed by the Constitution (specifically, the Sixth

Amendment), detained citizens have no way to gainaccess to lawyers, family or a civilian court after theyare detained by the military. In other words, the sup-posed improvement is meaningless.

The biggest thing about the [2012] NDAA was

THE USA HAS ESSENTIALLYBEEN DECLARED AN ACTIVEWAR ZONE [...] WHEREOUR MOST FUNDAMENTALCONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AREUNDERCUT.

    THE BATTLE WAS

    CLEARLY DRAWN,ALONG FIRSTAMENDMENT LINES.

Why dont you decide to join the Republic? Why dontyou decide to join the First Amendment and stand withGeorge Washington, and Thomas Jefferson? Instead oftrying to intimidate Americans one by one that we donthave the right to come here.

The rhetorical barrage came from an indignant Alex

Jones, who showed up at the Homer Thornberry Ju-dicial Building in downtown Austin Texas to protestthe attempted intimidation of a reporter working forInfowars.com, an increasingly frequent occurrence thatis too little challenged.

Magazine graphic designer Molly Rogers had beenphotographing surveillance cameras in the downtownarea earlier in the week when she was confronted bysecurity goons who told her, falsely, that filming federalproperty was illegal and that she could be arrested.

Rogers was photographing from the public sidewalkand was in no way interfering with official operations,

yet she was treated like a criminal. She was drawn tothe building for its iconic display of overlapping secu-rity cameras at a facility meant to uphold justice, iron-ically staring down on the people who, apparently, ar-ent supposed to stare back. It is the modus operandi ofthe State: reclusive, secretive and backwards, all in the

name of security.Alex Jones returned to the scene with Molly Rogers,

fellow designer Molly Maroney and cameraman RobDew to rebuke the intimidation, as well as the larg-er injustice trending everywhere in post-9/11 public

life. Jones launched into an impromptu protest of one, shouting at the building that symbolically encapsulat-ed the insulated takeover of legitimate, constitutionalgovernment by an ever-growing secret government.

The event was captured on video, and can be seeat youtube.com/thealexjoneschannel under the title,Alex Jones Confronts The Feds on Their Turf.

Jones then asked his reporter to point out the securityfigure who had threatened her with arrest, but insteadencountered a federal security official who not onlyrecognized their First Amendment right to film, but lis-tened to the Alex Jones Show. It was court security they

were looking for, he instructed them, pointing them in-

side the building where those figures were stationed.

Is that the guy right there?,Jones asked Rogers, while en-

    tering the building and ap-

proaching their checkpoint. Hi,how you doing? Im Alex Jones,he announced.

You cant go in there, a secu-rity official promptly told theInfowars team.Thats fine. This is Molly I un-derstand, were evil Americans.

This is an occupation force. Ivegot it, Jones retorted. His words were calculated, not exaggerated. It WAS

an occupation force taking over ordinary life. The per-

petual emergency of a potential terrorist threat has be-come enough of a rationale in the eyes of the State tosupersede ordinary procedures, established and guar-anteed rights and even common sense.

    FEDS DECLARETHEMSELVES ABOVE THEPEOPLE

It was the people who ordained the government byconsent, and the several States which agreed to formthe federal government of the United States. Yet, every-

where in America, from the TSA at airports to highwaycheckpoints and now VIPR squads checking passengersat train and bus depots, a paranoia about the potentialfor danger has swamped the mentality of those watch-ers somehow entrusted to gauge the real threats to the

country. In the hysteria surrounding highly publicizedattacks, however, that system has lost sight of the free-doms so rare and cherished in these United States.

Its just as founding father Ben Franklin long agowarned, They that can give up essential liberty to ob-tain a little temporary safety deserve neither libertynor safety. In this modern era, the attempt to estab-lish security has completely unraveled our rights andliberties, despite the clear intent of the Bill of Rightsand Constitution to safeguard them. History is full ofrulers and monarchs capable of dominating their pop-ulations. It was the forethought to try to separate andbalance power that made the United States different.

The recognition of individual rights, and of the rightsof states above the (limited) federal government cre-ated the possibility for real freedom-- for those wiseenough to keep it.

fathers day towards the essence of 1776, the recordedimage has become a pivotal force for all sides in thecontemporary setting, enabling citizen journalists todocument potential abuses and serve as a platform for

transparency, accountability and the enforcement ofgood government.

It is important to re-establish free speech as protectedunder the First Amendment as the age of cell phonecameras and live streaming video has put cop miscon-duct and other bad behavior in the spotlight, while ithas also prompted waves of false arrests across the na-tion. Those arrests need to end, and the video camera

warriors need to walk tall with the knowledge that theiractions are patriotic, not criminal.

The ACLU advises on their webpage located at theURL www.aclu.org/free-speech/know-your-rights-pho-tographers what is and is not covered by the First

    Amendment:

    YOUR RIGHTS AS APHOTOGRAPHER:

When in public spaces where you are lawfullypresent you have the right to photograph any-thing that is in plain view.

When you are on private property, the propertyowner may set rules about the taking of photo-

graphs. Police officers may not generally confiscate or de-mand to view your photographs or video withouta warrant.

Police may not delete your photographs or videounder any circumstances.

Police officers may legitimately order citizens tocease activities that are truly interfering with le-gitimate law enforcement operations.

The First Amendment is not in place to protect POPU-LAR SPEECH. It is not in place for instances other thanthose preempted by declarations of emergency or situ-ations requiring additional security. The First Amend-ment is not in place so that people are free to talk aboutthe weather, or sports, or to tout the prevailing ideolo-gies of major parties, or of socially dominant attitudes,or of legitimized and approved positions.

It concerns controversial speech. By its very nature, it isa protection and guarantee of rights for the MINORITY.

A lone voice in the crowd may, in practicality, offend, ostracize or even upset the social order-- but that voiceremains immune from official reprisal, from systematicoppression and from violation by civil government.

That First Amendment to the Constitution, addedunder the Bill of Rights demanded by many foundingfathers to further discourage tyrannical power in thenewly created United States federal government, rati-fied starting in 1789 and adopted in 1791, reads:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establish-

ment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise there-of; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and topetition the Government for a redress of grievances.

RECLAIMING THE FIRSTAMENDMENT:USE IT, OR LOSE ITAlex Jones summarized the important free speech

battle we face today, encapsulated in this case study onthe rights of photography.

Whats the moral of the story? What comes out ofthis report today? Alex Jones asked rhetorically, fol-lowing his encounter at the federal building. The fed-eral government, more and more, is trying to intimidatepeople and tell them they cant photograph police inpublic, they cant video tape federal buildings, just likeall the other despotic regimes on the face of this globe.

And that We The People have to stand up and takeour towns, our cities, our nation back or we will be likeCommunist China or Soviet Russia. We will becomeMexico, or Nigeria. If the people do not exercise theirliberty, its like muscles -- they atrophy.

But its also paramount for the people that work forthe government to realize the Bill of Rights and Consti-

tution are for them as well. If we lose the Bill of Rightsand Constitution, which is beginning to happen-- younotice they are now raiding the private and public pen-sion funds, you notice the foreign mega-banks are nowbragging theyve conquered us.

If we get rid of due process and checks and balances, its bad for everybody but a very tiny, criminal elite. So thepeople in government need to understand that its theirliberties and freedoms as well that are at stake, and toprotect their oath against enemies foreign and domestic.

But its also important for We the People to standup and exercise these rights, or well lose them. I camedown to the federal building because they tried tointimidate our reporter, and we had to reclaim thoserights. Its important for YOU to fight for every inch offreedom you can get -- or just give in, and be overrunand live in a despotic tyranny.

THE CHOICE IS UPTO YOU - LIBERTY ORSLAVERY.

Never forget what George Washington said, Govern-ment is like fire, a dangerous servant and a fearful mas-ter. And if you dont control it, it will take control of youand your life. And if you act like a nation of sheep, you

will be ruled by wolves. So its up to all of us to standup against this 1984 takeover. And to restore the idea of

human liberty and freedom. 1776, not just here in theUnited States, but worldwide.

So remember, if youre read this, or watching the vid-eo transmission, YOU are the resistance.

And YOU, by using your voice, really are the best de-fense for the First Amendment. Exercise it now, or facethe possibility of letting intimidation and perceptionroll it back and shut it down, perhaps forevermore, be-hind the veil of secretive, security-oriented shadowgovernment that wants no critics, no accountability anda minimum of public awareness.

Without debate, without criticism, no Administrationand no country can succeed--and no republic can survive.[...] And that is why our press was protected by the FirstAmendment-- the only business in America specifical-ly protected by the Constitution- -not primarily to amuseand entertain, not to emphasize the trivial and the senti-mental, not to simply give the public what it wants--butto inform, to arouse, to reflect, to state our dangers and ouropportunities, to indicate our crises and our choices, to lead, mold, educate and sometimes even anger public opinion. This means greater coverage and analysis of internationalnews--for it is no longer far away and foreign but close athand and local. It means greater attention to improved un-derstanding of the news as well as improved transmission. And it means, finally, that government at all levels, mustmeet its obligation to provide you with the fullest possible

information outside the narrowest limits of national secu-rity [].

Weve become completely accustomedto a disturbing societal defect. An ep-idemic surge in sub-human treatmentof disabled and elderly citizens and

sufferers of medical illnesses by the very men andwomen sworn to serve and protect them plag uesour culture.

From shoving cerebral palsy victims to draggingelderly women out of their vehicles to Taseringstroke sufferers, blind people and pregnant women, corrupt police are repeatedly caught blatantly disre-garding age and health conditions, trampling basiccivil liberties and essentially tossing logical discre-tion out the window when discerning law-abidinginnocents from law-breaking criminals.

While we highlight these outrageous instances, wenevertheless maintain hope that a majority of ouroath-sworn peace officers are good people capable of

critical thinking and respectful human life.2012, and particularly October, brought us more than

its fair share of disabled citizen police state abuses. In October, we reported on UK police Tasering

a blind man who was walking down the sidewalkminding his own business. T he spontaneous attack

sent the victim, Colin Farmer, a blind 61-year-oldretired architect, to the hospital leaving him em-bittered at police for their actions. He was not anofficer of the law; he was an absolute thug with alicense to carry a dangerous weapon, Mr. Farm-er remarked. The officer involved mistakenly per-ceived the mans cane to be a samurai sword priorto the electrocuting.

October also saw the release of June 2010 foot-age of a Vancouver, British Columbia police officershoving a cerebral palsy sufferer to the ground formerely attempting to squeeze through a group ofthree officers walking side-by-side. We later learnedthe victim was granted a 2013 hearing with the B.C.Human Rights Tribunal. Also in October, a federal compla int against two

officers of the Austin Police Department was filedalleging the use of a Taser to shock a man already

suffering a seizure in his own home.As we reported recently, two police officers in Tex-

as Tasered a man who was having a seizure, mere-ly because he was not responding to their orders,

heart attack and permanent brain damage. The copswere so i ll equipped to deal with the situation, thatthey just broke out Tasers and shocked a man who

was already convuls ing on the g round. It took paramedics 11 minutes to revive the man

and bring back his pulse. It is a miracle he is stillalive, though he will now have to live with severedisabilities for the rest of his life.

The man, Scott Sheely, says he suffers and contin-ues to suffer from respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, loss of heartbeat, loss of oxygen, Taser wounds tothe torso, abrasions to knees and elbows, brain in-

jury, loss of v ision, headaches, broken r ibs, physicalpain, continued seizure and severe emotional an-guish, reported RT.com.

October was also the month the city of Cleburne,Texas reached an agreement with a man who was

wrongfully Tasered back in April . When 19-year-old

Ricky Jones refused to answer questions followingan accident, officer Jason Vanderlaan issued a warn-ing to comply, Step out of the vehicle. Or I will Tase

you! and made good on his promise, Tasing the defi-ant driver. Only after EMS arrived did officers learnJones was diabetic and was non-compliant because

he was undergoing a hypoglycemic seizure.Judging by the numerous reports weve seen, some

police also seem to have no problem harassing, pick-ing fights with or even killing less-mobile membersof society.

In the month of October, we learned that a wheel-chair-ridden, schizophrenic double-amputee wasgunned down by Houston PD after threatening anofficer with a pen. The officer who shot the man ar-gued he believed the pen to be a dangerous weapon.

In September, we were baffled by a bizarre casein New Jersey where an on-duty police officer brokeinto the apartment of a wheelchair-bound coupleand assaulted them along with their 4-year-old son. Then, once the officer was taken into custody, hekicked the window of the patrol car out enablinghis escape, until he was eventually captured again. Then he grabbed my grandchild (and) he said, I

want the boy, I want the boy, the female vic tims

father, who didnt witness the incident, recalledfrom his familys account. When police arrived, theyfound the perp, Sgt. Mark Lee, sitting on a couchinside the apartment naked. The female victims fa-ther said, He took his clothes off, gun, uni form, andpants, and tried to jump out the window. In lateOctober, Lees bail was reduced after a test foundhe had calcium deposits on his brain facilitating aneurological disorder.

In September, we also witnessed footage of abotched detox drop-off where a Minnesota policeofficer began punching a difficult, mouthy wheel-chair-bound drunk man five times in the head be-fore slamming him onto the floor, allegedly splittinghis head open. The officer then threatened the nursein attendance with arrest for merely offering assis-tance. Video footage shows that the disabled manprovoked Officer Richard Jouppi prior to his assault.

September also saw a 77-year old woman getdragged out of her car for failing to give an officerher license and insurance fast enough. As the Keene,Texas officers lapel and dash-cam footage show, the

woman simply attempted to provide an explanation

for her alleged speeding. The officer shouted overthe woman demanding her license and insurance, fomenting a verbal standoff eventually leading tothe officer forcibly dragging the woman out of hercar. The officer has faced no disciplinary action; infact, his superior officer approved of his conduct.

In August 2012, video surfaced of a July 1 alterca-tion where Saginaw, Michigan police shot a home-less man 46 times. Moments prior, he was arguing

with officers in broad daylight, wielding a knife. Theman, 49-year-old Milton Hall, had been described assuffering from serious mental health issues.

To top it all off, one instance shows police seemgenuinely confused on exactly when to issue ticketsas one Piedmont, Oklahoma officer exemplified. Theofficer made international news when he issued themother of a three-year-old a ticket for public urina-tion after he witnessed her son micturating whileplaying out in the front lawn. The officer was madean example of and fired. To my knowledge, this isthe only police officer in this report that was firedfor what he did, even though he didnt physicallyharm anyone.

Are these just a few f reak instances that happenedto be latched onto by media and exploited, or is theopposite true? Do these types of stories take placefar too frequently to report?

By calling attention to the ongoing corruption,of which there are virtually countless more exam-

eputy Sheriff Stan Lenic, the cop who stoodup for the First Amendment by refusing toimpede the free speech rights of activists at

Albany International Airport, has become an

Internet icon, with messages of support flooding into the Albany County Sheriffs Office and Lenic beinghonored with a commendation.A video that has now gone viral on You Tube shows

Lenic refusing to follow the demands of Albany Air-ports PR director Doug Myers in having activists JasonBermas and Ashley Jessica identified, detained or re-moved for handing out flyers warning travelers aboutthe dangers of airport body scanners as part of the OptOut and Film campaign.

Obviously this is your constitutional right, OK? As

far as youre concerned, youre not breaking any laws.Thats what we want to get across to you guys, Lenictold the activists, dismissing efforts by Myers to havethe two kicked out of the airport.

When Myers attempted to have the activists identifythemselves, winking at Deputy Lenic as he demandedLenic take their IDs, Lenic fired back, stating, If I wasto ask for his identification he does not have to give itto me because hes not doing anything wrong.

The Albany County Sheriffs Office has since beenbombarded with hundreds of positive emails and callsfrom liberty lovers championing Lenic for his fine work

in defending the First Amendment against petty enforc-ers like Doug Myers.

Comments on YouTube were also overwhelminglysupportive of Deputy Lenic.

FIRST AMENDMENT COPwritten by PAUL JOSEPH WATSONFinally a cop that does his job properly. Makes a

change from all of the bad cop films weve seen lately.Hats off to the man, wrote one.

This Sheriff is an absolute paragon for justice, add-

ed another.Lenic already has his own Facebook page where peo-

ple are reposting the video and urging Lenic to run forMayor.

Thats a little overwhelming. I mean, I was do-ing my job I felt I was doing the right thing pro-tecting peoples First Amendment rights, Lenic toldNewsChannel 13.

    Lenic later emailed Jason Bermas the followingmessage;

I am overwhelmed by the support your viewers have

given me. I hope other fellow officers will see this andnot view the freedom of speech as a threat, but anopportunity to show the professionalism that law en-forcement should be held to. I remember the day I wassworn in, and I remember that I am supposed to pro-tect the constitution of the United States. I am proudto be a Deputy Sheriff, and try to do my job to the bestof my ability so help me God.

Lenic also told Bermas that his superiors were con-sidering giving him an official commendation for hisexemplary actions in defending the constitutionalrights he swore to uphold.

Is all the recent talk of secession mere sour grapes

over the election, or perhaps something deeper?Currently there are active petitions in support of

secession for all 50 states, with Texas taking the

lead in number of signatures. Texas has well over the

number of signatures needed to generate a response

from the administration, and while I wouldnt hold

my breath on Texas actually seceding, I believe thesepetitions raise a lot of worthwhile questions about the

    nature of our union.

Is it treasonous to want to secede from the United

States? Many think the question of secession was set-

tled by our Civil War. On the contrary; the principlesof self-governance and voluntary association are at the

core of our founding. Clearly Thomas Jefferson believed

secession was proper, albeit as a last resort. Writing to

William Giles in 1825, he concluded that states:Keep in mind that the first and third paragraphs of

the Declaration of Independence expressly contemplate

the dissolution of a political union when the underlying

    government becomes tyrannical.

Do we have a government without limitation of

powers yet? The Federal government kept the Union

together through violence and force in the Civil War, but

did might really make right?Secession is a deeply American principle. This

country was born through secession. Some felt it was

treasonous to secede from England, but those traitors

    became our countrys greatest patriots.

There is nothing treasonous or unpatriotic about

wanting a federal government that is more responsive

to the people it represents. That is what our Revolu-

tionary War was all about and today our own federal

government is vastly overstepping its constitutional

bounds with no signs of reform. In fact, the recent

election only further entrenched the status quo. If

the possibility of secession is completely off the ta-ble there is nothing to stop the federal government

from continuing to encroach on our liberties and norecourse for those who are sick and tired of it.

Consider the ballot measures that passed in Colora-

do and Washington state regarding marijuana laws.

The people in those states have clearly indicated

that they are ready to try something different where

drug policy is concerned, yet they will still face a

tremendous threat from the federal government.

In California, the Feds have been arresting peaceful

medical marijuana users and raiding dispensariesthat state and local governments have sanctioned.

This shouldnt happen in a free country.

It remains to be seen what will happen in states

that are refusing to comply with the deeply unpopu-

lar mandates of Obamacare by not setting up health-

care exchanges. It appears the Federal government

will not respect those decisions either.

In a free country, governments derive their power

from the consent of the governed. When the peoplehave very clearly withdrawn their consent for a law,

the discussion should be over. If the Feds refuse

to accept that and continue to run roughshod overthe people, at what point do we acknowledge that

that is not freedom anymore? At what point should

the people dissolve the political bands which have

connected them with an increasingly tyrannical and

oppressive federal government? And if people or

states are not free to leave the United States as a lastresort, can they really think of themselves as free?

If a people cannot secede from an oppressive gov-

ernment, they cannot truly be considered free.

arlier this month we learned that the

Obama Administration is significantly ex-panding the number of covert Defense In-

telligence Agency (DIA) agents overseas. From just a few hundred DIA agents overseas

today, the administration intends to eventually

deploy some 1,600 covert agents. The nature of

their work will also shift, away from intelligence

collection and more toward covert actions. This

move signals a major change in how the admin-

istration intends to conduct military and para-military operations overseas. Unfortunately it is

not a shift toward peace, but rather to an even

more deadly and disturbing phase in the war

    on terror.

Surely attacks on foreign countries will increaseas a result of this move, but more and more the

strikes will take place under cover of darkness and

outside the knowledge of Congress or the Amer-

ican people. The move also represents a furtherblurring of the lines between the military and

intelligence services, with the CIA becoming more

like a secret military unto itself. This is a very trou-

    bling development.

In 2010, I said in a speech that there had been

a CIA coup in this country. The CIA runs the mili-

tary, the drone program, and they are in drug traf-ficking. The CIA is a secretive government all on its

own. With this new expanded Defense IntelligenceAgency presence overseas it will be even worse.

Because the DIA is operationally under control of

the Pentagon, direct Congressional oversight of

the program will be more difficult. Perhaps this is

as intended. The CIA will be training the DIA in its

facilities to conduct operations overseas. Much of

this will include developing targeting data for the

    presidents expanding drone warfare program.

Already the president has demonstrated his

preference for ever more drone attacks overseas.

In Pakistan, for example, President Obama hasin his first four years authorized six times more

drone strikes than under all eight years of the

Bush Administration. Nearly three thousandindividuals have been killed by these drones,

    many of those non-combatants.

President Obama said recently of Israels strikes

against the Palestinians in Gaza, No country on

Earth would tolerate missiles raining down on its

citizens from outside its borders. This announce-

ment by the administration amounts to precise-

ly that: the US intends to rain down ever more

missiles on citizens overseas. I believe what thepresident says about Israel is true everywhere,

so what about those overseas who live in fear of

our raining missiles? How will they feel about the

United States? Is it not possible that we may be

inviting more blowback by expanding the covert

war overseas? Does that make us safer?

An exhaustive study earlier this year by Stan-

ford and New YorkUniversity law schools found

that US drone strikes on Pakistan are damagingand counterproductive, potentially creating

more terrorists than they kill. Its recommenda-tions of a radical re-appraisal of the program

obviously fell on deaf ears in the administration.

Thousands of new DIA spies are to be hired and

placed undercover alongside their CIA counter-

parts to help foment ever more covert wars and

coups in foreign lands. Congress is silent. Where

    will it all end?

to different causes that I believe in. Im just glad I feel like Im working

for the good guys. Getting messages of peace and freedom out there.

I had to do an assignment for the village voice. Did story called fakes on

a plane. They mentioned Alex in the story, and I looked him up. I Ended

up listeing to him all night long. For the first time, everything made sense

    to me. The world didnt make sense before. This guy is speaking truth;

there is no agenda. Theyre just trying to get to the heart of the matter.

From that moment on I had a lazer focus, and when I started doing my

best work. I was really about lazer focusing my energies into this area. I

found out about Celente through Alex. Sent him and email, and he said

they needed an illustrator and a weekly cartoon and all.

Dan Zollinger--he is my right hand man when it comes to getting jobs.

I have a pretty high volume of work between commercial, personal and

volunteer work. We have been working together for about 20 years-

-started working together in an art bull pen right out of art school in

Manhattan. We kind of honed our craft there; it was like being in the

trenches. We got out of that type of work to do something more profound.

I dont mind hard work becuase I want to keep spreading the message,

get the word out to as many people as I can. combine them with

articles and media to expand the ideas of peace, freedom and exposing

corruption. I feel like Im in a battle in the information war.

I dont have an inflated image of myself, but it is true that an image is a

1,000 words. I try to stay true to that. An image is a very powerful thing,

and I take it very seriously. Many of the images that are burned into our

minds are political Guerneca by Picasso is a war painting. These iconic

images can help move people to enlightenment.

Im all about getting people to realize that if we keep repeating the same

patterns we are never going to progress as a society. Thats why I like Alex.

Its not the same old predictable answers to these age old questions. If

what you are doing isnt working, you have to try something else. I think

people agree with that, and they are tired of the same old lies.

Some people say my work is negative, but I am an optimist.

You do however have to start with pointing out that there is a

problem. I think we can do better. I agree with Robert F. Kennedy

when he said to look at things that have not been and say why

not. I believe saying that this is the best we can do is a cop out. I

have more faith in humanity than that.

Its frustrating sometimes when people dont get my work

but many are and that is growing. Its encouraging and Im going

to keep fighting. The stakes are getting higher. In my conscious I

know Im with the good guys and in my heart that is what

    keeps me motivated.

This is especially the case when an economy is weak and alreadyin decline. A declining economy means less sales, less employ-ment, less tax revenues. This works against the effort to close thefederal budget deficit with austerity measures. Instead of strength-

The world is abandoning the use of the dollar to settle inter-national accounts, and the demand for dollars is falling as theFederal Reserve increases the supply of dollars.

This means that the price of the dollar is threatened.

    37/60

ening the economy, the austerity measures weaken it further. Tocut unemployment benefits and food stamps when unemploymentis high or rising would be to provoke social and political instability.

Some economists, such as Robert Barro at Harvard University, claim that stimulative measures, the opposite of austerity, dont

work, because consumers anticipate the higher taxes that will beneeded to cover the budget deficit and, therefore, reduce theirspending and increase their saving in order to be able to pay theanticipated higher taxes.

In other words, the Keynesian effort to stimulate spending causesconsumers to reduce their spending. I dont know of any empiricalevidence for this claim.

Regardless, the situation on the ground at the present time isthat for the majority of people, incomes are stretched to the limitand beyond. Many cannot pay their bills, their mortgages, theircar payments, their student loans. They are drowning in debt, andthere is nothing that they can cut back in order to save money with

which to pay higher taxes. Many commentators are complaining that Congress will refuse

to face the difficult issues and kick the can down the road, leavingthe fiscal cliff looming. This would probably be the best outcome.

As the fiscal c liff is a result, not a cause, to focus on the fiscal cl iffis to focus on the symptoms rather than the disease.

The U.S. economy has two serious diseases, and neither one istoo much welfare spending.

One disease is the offshoring of U.S. middle class jobs, bothmanufacturing jobs and professional service jobs such as engi-neering, research, design, and information technology, jobs that

formerly were filled by U.S. university graduates, but which todayare sent abroad or are filled by foreigners brought in on H-1B work

visas at two-thirds of the salary. The other disease is the deregulation, especially the financial

deregulation, that caused the ongoing financial crisis and createdbanks too big to fail, which has prevented capitalism from workingand closing down insolvent corporations.

The Federal Reserves policy is focused on saving the banks, noton saving the economy. The Federal Reserve is purchasing not onlynew Treasury bonds issued to finance the more than one trilliondollar annual federal deficit but also the banks underwater finan-cial instruments, taking them off the banks books and puttingthem on the Federal Reserves books.

Normally, debt monetization of this amount results in risinginflation, but the money that the Federal Reserve is creating inits attempt to manage the public debt and the banks private debtis hung up in the banking system as excess reserves and is notfinding its way into the economy. The banks are too busted to lend, and consumers are too indebted to borrow.

However, the debt monetization poses a second threat that iscapable of biting the U.S. economy and consumer living standards

very hard. Foreign central banks, foreign investors in U.S. stocksand financial instruments, and Americans themselves observing

    the Feder
