Information to Give Students
Please Teach the Dress and Grooming Code to Avoid Embarrassment
• Modesty is a must. Students dressed immodestly will not be allowed to test, and will be asked to go home and change.
• Men with groomed beards, including the flavor savor will not be allowed to test. They will be asked to fix the problem before testing.
• A special thank you to everyone who is making the effort to teach our students to live up to their commitment to the Honor Code.
Upset Students
• Some students get upset when they are taught the dress and grooming code here in the Testing Center. They tell us they cannot concentrate on their tests after they have received a notice of violation. Let them know that disobedience to the dress and grooming code is unacceptable. Immodesty, especially is distracting to others who are testing.
Examples of Immodest or Grubby Attire
Men are to be clean shaven
We teach by informing students of their violations and giving them a Dress and Grooming Reminder card. Although we simply teach if a student has a 5:00 shadow – those with whiskers, as shown here, are sent home to shave.
Faculty need to be aware that if one of their students wait until the last minute to take their test and we send them home - they may miss the test deadline.
The Dress and Grooming Reminder Card
Observed Violations
• If we see bare skin and/or underwear we will ask the individual to please pull their shirt down.
• If they can’t cover up we will take their test and send it to you to be finished.

What the Student Needs to Test
• A #2 pencil• Know the instructor’s name, the class name/ course
number, and what test to ask for. Example: Martin Petersen’s, REL 301, Exam # 2, not Old Testament and that guy that has nice eyes and is getting older.
• They may want a pen for write-on tests.• Students cannot leave a half-completed exam in the
Testing Center and plan to complete it later.• If a student writes on a test that has not been set up to be
written on there will be a $5.00 charge• Please inform your students that we do not have enough
resources to take personal calls about opening and closing tests. That information is on our WEB page.
