• Growing size– Co-ordination. Space allocation, committees, HR,

facilities.– Manual or semi-manual processes. (Enrolments,

billing, computer accounts, reporting, security).– Diversity and complexity of Schools’ ICT

requirements– Very broad role for ITS (diverse and yet specific)

– > Information explosion for staff– > Managing complexity

Information Management • Too much info to process

– Where/how to store quickly, but accessibly.– How to find relevant information.– Security/confidentiality/access-control.

• Data Storage has doubled since January, which in turn was double January 2006

• Inconsistent information management practices across departments/schools/campuses.

• Integration of corporate systems and information stores.

• #1 – inclusion in scoping and early planning stages of all major ICT developments managed in Australia

– Do not include as “second phase”or “local implementation”

• Workgroup collaboration tools. Email/Calendar/Webteams/Videoconf/voip

• Information Management Administration/methods/facilities and TRAINING!
