INTRODUCTION•Kerala –role model for all other states-
w.r.t. utilization of ICT technologies .•Government- first policy in 1998, then in
2001 and 2007-provided comprehensive support for the further development of this sector.
•Seeks to be- preferred IT investment destination and leader in E-governance.
•Thrust also given-to enhance the skills of its citizens.
WHY THE NEW POLICY?
The Government of Kerala-to enhance capacities and put to best use-the infrastructure – (2) to keep pace with changing technologies -(3) to be more proactive.
VISION AND MISSION
• To create knowledge based economy with global
opportunities;
• position IT@Kerala as most preferred IT investment destination in India; and
• To attract investment in ICT.

FISCAL INCENTIVES•Standard Investment Subsidy;
•Exemption from stamp duty and registration fees;
•Exemption from Entry tax for goods
•Private IT Parks-on satisfaction of certain conditions-to be regulated by regulations that are applicable to Government IT Parks unless other wise specified.
• IT software unit-registered in Kerala and employs minimum of 30% of its workforce in its Kerala operations, -compliant with the tender requirements-7.5% price preference on IT software solutions required by Kerala Government / PSU's / Government Bodies.
• IT hardware unit -registered office in Kerala and employs a minimum of 30% of its workforce in its Kerala operations-excise paying or ISO certified-compliant with the tender requirements-entitled to 10% price preference on IT hardware required by Kerala Government / PSU's / Government Bodies.
