4 Introduction to working with TopSec ID Module Service Tool The user functions will be provided by a GUI application via activation of some menu items. Therefore they will be performed in particular callback functions. The general flow of control of the particular callback functions is identical and is outlined as follows: 1. Connecting to the TopSec ID Module via previously defined ComPort.

If the first trial fails all known MNT baudrates are tested as long a successful connection is made or the last known baudrate is reached.

2. User Input Eventually retrieval of required input data via input dialogs (i.e. file dialogs) Call of specific ID Module SDK functions

3. Disconnection to the TopSec ID Module

4. Output On error indication of the error information in a message box otherwise visualization complex output information in a special output dialog or only indication of success in a message box.

Each relevant user function is covered by a special “scenario” and its related callback function as well as its associated menu item. The following table shows an overview of the “scenarios” and “menu items”. The used names are only symbolic names without obligation but with the intention to make clear the particular functional context. Nevertheless these symbolic names will be used throughout the document.

Scenario Menu Item

6 Technical data and limit values

6.1 ID Module SDK

The TopSec ID Module Service Tool V0.65 depends on the functionality provided by the ID Module SDK V1.00 or ID Module SDK V1.05 or ID Module SDK V1.2 Beta.

6.2 Registry

The TopSec ID Module Service Tool V0.65 always uses the same registry entries despite the connected TopSec ID Modules. This implies the following consequences:

• fix registry root

• fix ID Module name

• reset of registry entry SerialNumber to default value according /4/.

• GUI change of comport implies registry change of corresponding registry entry

• The MNT baudrate is adjusted dynamically to the TopSec ID Module’s one if necessary. The corresponding registry entry is then changed too.

• Every scenario is an own session ( “open connection” and “close connection”). This session oriented concept allows to disconnect and connect TopSec ID Modules even different ones between particular sessions without any operational restrictions.

• Enum values visualized within particular GUI items will be shown in appropriate textual representations.

• Update of registry entries always implies the update of related GUI entries.

• In the Registry system parameters of the TopSec ID Module Service Tool system are stored in the Windows registry are made in the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Siemens\TopSec IDMST\ServiceModule

6.3 Restrictions

The TopSec ID Module Service Tool V0.65 explicitly does not support:

• Central administration of ID Modules Any actually maintained ID Module will always use the same registry entries accessed via fix predefined values for registry root and ID Module name.

• Archive management ( Delete of persons, Read and show persons, ...)

• Enrollment ( new person, change person )

• Identification

6.4 Top Sec Evaluation Board

The TopSec ID Module Service Tool and the ID Module SDK assume that the connection

between PC and Top Sec Evaluation board is done via the MNT interface. If the connection is done via ACI Interface some obscurities can happen. The TopSec ID Module Service Tool and in subsequent the ID Module SDK connects to the MNT interface although in reality the ACI interface is used.

Note: the status bar displays the wrong baudrate for MNT and ACI. MNT baudrate is the ACI baudrate.
