(a) By Rail. From Chennai Central, only one train namely “Nilgiri Express” operates. One change from broad gauge to narrow gauge is to be undertaken at Mettupalayam.

(b) By Air. Daily Air Services connect Coimbatore with Bangalore, Kochi and Chennai. Taxis are available from Coimbatore to Wellington.

- The trainees should be in possession of following items:

(a) Uniforms. Trainees are to be in possession of both summer and winter uniform (working rig, ceremonial and mess dress).

(b) Civilian Clothes.

( i) Normal country wears for a temperature climate, and atleast two lounge suits. For visits to the plains, tropical clothing is necessary.

(ii) A dinner jacket (tuxedo) with soft shirt and collar is the normal evening wear for special functions. Tropical

evening dress may be required in the plains.(iii) Riding Kit, if officers wish to participate in riding.

(c) Clothing for Families.

( i) Overcoats / Raincoats. (ii) Cotton and tweed clothes.

(iii) For children, gum boots, Play pens, cots andmattresses can be procured locally

(d) Bedding. Blankets, bed sheets, towels and quilts are notprovided. These can be purchased locally.

(a) General. Houses earmarked for accommodation for over- seas officers are furnished with essential items of furniture and fitted with waterborne sanitation. Curtains, carpets and mat- tresses are not provided. These can be purchased locally.

(b) Quarters. ( i) Single officers’ quarters consist of sitting cum bedroom with attached bathroom. These are located close to the mess. Blankets, linen and other furnishing material are not provided.

(ii) Married officers’ accommodation is available near the campus.

(iii) Officers accompanied by their families are expected to run their own house hold and to provide their own cooking utensils, glass, china crockery, cutlery, cleaning material and so on. These items are available in the local shops.

(c) Use of Electrical Gadgets. Electricity for power and light is 220V/230V, AC, 50 cycles. The fitting caters normally for do mestic consumptions through 5 ampere energy meters for light ing and a 15 Ampere meter for power.

(a) Sports. The sports facilities available in the college are basketball, croquet, cricket, Angling, football, golf, hockey, hunting, riding, sailing, shooting squash and tennis

(a) Import. Officers importing arms and ammunition for sport- ing purposes are required to obtain a transit license, on arrival in India. Transit license for fire arms can be arranged by the college, provided details of bore, license, type, maker’s name, registration number and quantity of ammunition are provided one month in advance, prior to the date of arrival of the officer in India.

(b) Custody. Immediately on their arrival student officers will hand over arms and ammunition in their possession to the Quar- ter Master for safe custody in the armoury. Necessary arrangements exist for drawing & deposit of private arms.

(a) Gunroom. All ships of the Squadron have a Gunroom with Cable TV connection, VCD player and Music system for recreation.

(b) Library. All ships have a well stocked library. The categories of books include fiction, Naval/Military History, Technical in Hindi and English. The Cadets are allowed to draw books on a daily basis.

( c) Watermanship. Facilities for Boat pulling, Power Boat handling and Yachting are available onboard the ships and at the local Watermanship Training Centre.

(d) Sports. Major emphasis is laid on outdoor training. The cadets undergo physical training everyday in the morning. Games are conducted every day in the evening and on Sundays/Holidays. The sports facilities of the Southern Naval Command are also available for conduct of games.

- All the ships of the Training Squadron have a Medical Officer onboard with a Sickbay. For specialist treatment, the cases are referred to the Naval Hospital, INHS Sanjivani.

- The climate of Goa is influenced by the sea. The temperature in this region undergoes marginal seasonal fluctuation. Average temperature in the warmest month of the year i.e., May is about 32oC and coldest month i.e., January is about 24oC. June to September are monsoon months. Goa is at sea level.

- The climate in Jamnagar can be described as mild to hot during summers and mild in winters. The presence of the Gulf of Kutch adjoining INS Valsura makes the summer evenings extremely pleasant, due to the cool offshore breeze blowing in from the sea. The summer temperatures rise to a maximum of about 35-36 degrees Celsius. The winter months from end November to mid February is very pleasant, with the mercury dipping to about 10 degrees Celsius during the coolest nights. The monsoons in Jamnagar occur during Jun to Aug along with the onset of South West monsoons and annual rainfall has increased over decades from 50 Cms to 150 cms. Jamnagar is located at sea level.

(a) By Air. Indian Airlines operates its domestic flight to and fro Mumbai. However, if the Mumbai - Jamnagar flight schedule does not suits travel plans, one can travel by Mumbai - Rajkot flight, followed by journey by road/rail to Jamnagar. The distance between Rajkot and Jamnagar is 90 Kms.

(b) Sports. Facilities of playing outdoor games viz. basketball, volleyball, tennis, football, handball and hockey are available in the establishment. The establishment has two synthetic basketball courts, one synthetic volleyball court and four synthetic tennis courts. In addition, the establishment has facilities for indoor games like badminton and squash too. A stadium with 400 mtrs and Obstacle course with 13 obstacles is also available.

(a) Watermanship Training Centre. The centre provides facilities for whaler sailing, wind surfing, rowing, canoeing and kayaking in addition to Gemini power boats.

(b) Cinema / TV. Facility exists for viewing satellite channels on TV. An auditorium cum theatre with state of the art Digital Light Projection along with Dolby Music System exists inside the establishment. In addition, an amphitheatre is also provisioned for conduct of cultural events. A number of air conditioned theatres are available in the city too.
