CONTENTS
What is Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge 2016?
MGAC 2016 is an international, multi-dimensional case challenge that
has never been seen been by university competitions worldwide. It
tests student competencies in more than just finance but include
strategy, behaviour and general knowledge too.
It is the 5th edition of the largest case graduate challenge in
the ASEAN region.
Designed and developed by Global Maybank Apprentices
(GMAs) to attract potential MAs thereby establishing
greater generational resonance and relevance.
It is a reality-driven, protracted and exhaustive talent selection
platform, specially designed to stretch the candidates’ limits
physically, mentally, psychologically, intellectually and even
ethically.

How is MGAC
different?
WIN BIGMGAC awards the biggest cash prize in the region for a any
competition of its type with a total of USD 71,000 to be
awarded to the top 3 teams. Additionally, a cash prize and
international internship opportunities will be awarded to the
Ultimate GO Ahead. Challenger.
BEYOND A BUSINESS CASEMGAC will put contestants in challenges simulating the
realities of a dynamic business world. MGAC experience is not
only limited to business cases but extends to non-traditional
challenges such as in the past; amazing race, CSR, strategy-base games, marketing pitch etc.
INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGERSA global finalist enters MGAC 2016 with different
international candidates to work with. Last year’s
finalists came from across ASEAN countries, Africa, UK
and US. The competition is a platform not just for
learnings but a global community made up of diverse
cultures.

How is MGAC
different?
HUMANISING FACTOR A big part of MGAC is where it combines all the elements
of logical, lateral and critical thinking with the
humanising component. Challengers work in “Home
Building”, “Cooking” and “Feeding the Homeless” and
compete in teams to raise funds for local charitable
organisations .
A ONE-OF-A-KIND CHALLENGEMGAC is not just a competition, it is in itself a wholesome
experience through its multi-stage challenges, roadshows,
Gala dinner and even the campus giveaways!
GOLDEN CAREER OPPORTUNITY Selected individuals are given the opportunity to join the
prestigious Global Maybank Apprentice Program (GMAP). A
two-year rotation programme developing our young
talents throughfirst hand experience in departments of
their choice.

National Level The countrywide stage aims to

RoadshowsMaybank’s MGAC representatives tour
university campuses locally and overseas.
Roadshows and other activations engage
students and recent graduates in a
unique, creative and fun approach.
Engagement sessions typically is

Global FinalsFinalists from 14 countries will contend in a
week-long intensive event that will push
their limits in the biggest and boldest of
ways. The Global Finals is power-packed with
different obstacles to determine who will be
crowned team champion and ultimate
challenger. It is the culmination of MGAC.

As one of the industry’s award winning apprentice
program, GMAP is designed to provide graduates
with a strategic platform to jump-start their
career. The program, like MGAC, is not limited to
graduates from business disciplines but attract wide
range from academic backgrounds. Global Maybank
Apprentices (GMAs) undergo 2-year rotations
including an international assignment.
The Edge of GMAP
Apprentices with aspirations to be Chartered
Accountants can sign up for GMAP-Plus
which offers full certification sponsorship
with ICAEW without bond or contract.

Personalised
Each GMA has a customised rotation
plan, designed after career
dialogue with the apprentice. Each
is assigned a coach from a poll of
experienced Top Management of
Maybank. GMAs have the unique
privilege of being a “coachee” of
some of Mybank’s industry leaders.
Humanising
GMAs will be given the opportunity to
join various programmes of Maybank
encompassing the organisations
initiatives such as Corporate
Responsibility initiatives, Engagement
Sessions with Top Management,
Workshops etc. All learning elements
are designed to accelerate GMA’s
growth, both as a humanising banker
and leader.

Best Social Media UsageFor the first time, Maybank won Best Social Media Usage Award. It spoke volumes on the Bank’s

innovative and effective strategy of MGAC in attracting graduates. One example is the video
resumes/CV via YouTube. Another is how the Bank provides real-time updates on career fairs and

Best Innovation on CampusMGAC2015 proved to be even bigger than 2014 expanding its programme by increasing campus
levels to 27 (13 in 2014). MGAC also added more CSR activities. It is the longest Global Finals
with 11 days of continuous challenges. The increased number of campuses has created greater
awareness of Maybank’s brand; the GO Ahead Employee Value Proposition.

Are non-business|non-finance majors allowed to join MGAC?Yes. We encourage non-business related majors to join. MGAC is designed to
test participants’ ability to learn fast, their adaptability and character
among others which are agnostic to academic background
What are the types of challenges are we expecting this year?
Based from previous MGACs, challenges vary to test everything from cognitive
skills, leadership, teamwork, communication, integrity and personal growth
Do we enter the competition as teams or as individuals?Both. MGAC accepts individual applications as well as Team applications. Applying individually will NOT put you in a disadvantage.
What is the Application Process?Applications submission in person at our Roadshow or Online via website. Selected applicants will be tested via 2 short assessments. Again, No financial background necessary
Application period: 22nd January – 30th April
Where can candidates apply?Students are highly encouraged to visit us during our Roadshow andmeet our representatives face-to-face. Online applications will also be accepted through our website: goaheadchallenge.com

Where will Campus Level, National Level and Grand Finals be held?Campus level is finalized after online assessments and depending campus’ interest to host MGAC. National level is usually held within Maybank premises(whether locally and overseas). Global Finals will be held in Kuala Lumpur,with specific venue to be confirmed at a later date.
Can post-graduates apply?
Post Graduates can apply so long as the meet they requirement of less than 2 years working experience
Does the Global Maybank Apprentice Programme have a bond?The Global Maybank Apprentice Programme (GMAP) has no bond after theprogram.
Are there specific streams for GMAP?
GMAP‘s rotation plan offer wide range of options throughout Maybank's
departments, including Community Financial Services, Global Banking,
Insurance & Takaful, Islamic Banking, Group Finance Office, Group Credit &
Risk Office, Enterprise Transformation Services and Group Human Capital.
