Why refer patients to OCSHCN?
Benefits for providers: Clinics are held through 12 offices across
the state. Your patients can receive specialty care closer to home.
Primary care remains in your office - no lost patients.
Sliding fee scale for families who don’t qualify for Medicaid or KCHIP.
Medicaid rates mean lower out-of-pocket expenses for families.
A team approach allows your patients to see multiple providers in one visit.
Care coordination ensures that all aspects of each patient’s specialty care are addressed without duplication.
Lab results, x-ray reports, clinician and therapy notes can be easily shared, allowing you to be informed in a timely manner.
Patients must meet diagnostic & financial eligibility.
The OCSHCN has a strong history of providing quality service to the children of Kentucky and their families. Our definition of “service” includes:
Care Coordination - On-going, family-
centered, culturally-sensitive, and
developmentally-appropriate support.
Clinical Services - Direct care provided
through a multidisciplinary team
approach.
Augmentative Services - Audiology
services are available statewide, providing
diagnostic testing, hearing aids and
mapping for children with cochlear
implants. Physical, occupational and
speech therapy are available through OC-
SHCN staff or contracted providers.
Early Hearing Detection & Intervention
(EHDI) - Consistently reporting hearing
screening results for 99% of Kentucky’s
newborns annually, the EHDI program
focuses on connecting families of newly-
identified infants with diagnostic testing
and early intervention. The OCSHCN is a
Level 2 diagnostic center.
Telemedicine - Due to increasing need
across the state, the OCSHCN is using
video-conferencing equipment in many of
our regional offices to provide expanded
service.
