Internet is growing exponentially and has already reached far corners of the world. For almost every industry around the globe, the use of computers with internet has become a norm.

However, without proper management, the innumerous advantages of internet may also come with many undesired disadvantages and threats. Cyber attacks and cyber threats are on rise, leading to breach of security and confidential information, easy access to internet has made children vulnerable to undesirable content, huge number of entertaining and time-consuming sources easily distract employees of their work in offices.

Introduction

MEANING

Information filtering (also known as content filtering) deals with the delivery of information that the user is likely to find interesting or useful. An information filtering system assists users by filtering the data source and deliver relevant information to the users. 

A source of inappropriate content for either the end-user or the environment, such as racism and violence-related content, pornography to name just a few.

A huge range of content such as news, shopping and social networking sites that can greatly reduce the productivity. 

Block malware and other content that is or contains hostile, intrusive, or annoying material including spam, computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and spyware.
