Sanctuary Candle

The Sanctuary Candle intention for the Week of December 27th

is donated for healing for Katherine White and

Sarah Brubaker-Gonterman

A wax candle, generally in a red glass

container, kept burning day and night wherever the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in Catholic churches or

chapels. It is an emblem of Christ's abiding love and a reminder to

the faithful to respond with loving adoration in return.

WEDNESDAY ADORATION

Interceding For Our Lady

of the Mountains Parish

In the midst of helping to renew our Parish as the Lord’s Amazing Parish, we want to begin with

the Adoration of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

Wonderful WednesdayAdoration will be

Every Wednesday 9:15 AM until 12 Noon

Exposition and Adoration properly requires two people to be physically present in honoring Our Lord’s presence in the Blessed Sacrament.

At the church entrance, I have placed an Adoration Schedule divided into five sections for

each Wednesday of the month. I am asking every parishioner to select one or two

Wednesdays a month and the most probable time they can commit themselves to being in

attendance to the Lord.

In praying for one’s own intentions, I am asking that we particularly pray for Our Lord's

Spiritual Renewing of our parish.

Thank you so very much,

Rev. Joe Hartmann

Pastor’s Corner

Dear Our Lady’s Families and Visitors,

“. . . and on entering the house, the magi saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage.” (Mt 2:11)

We’ve probably already noticed that most of the world’s businesses and families have already removed their Christmas trees, decorations and lights. Yet the Church continues to save and celebrate Christmas, the Christ-Event, as if it were one lo-o-o-n-g day. And it is! Why so? Because it’s about celebrating God’s Incarnation for our salvation, it’s that central.

One of the chief mysteries of our faith is in how the infinite glory of God became manifest (Epiphany) in the very simplicity of a stable and manger. Our Lord’s Incarnation would show how the divine presence of the Lord could be found in the most common places, in the most basic surroundings, and in the most ordinary and everyday circumstances of our lives and relation-ships.

God became one of us, a real human being, because of love for us. Everything He does comes from His love. By taking upon Himself human nature, God would heal and restore us from “within,” what rift the first Adam caused through the Original Sin of Disobedience. As a man and a woman, deeply in love with each other, commit and join their love together through the Sacrament of Marriage, so God does in the Incarnation. He wants us to KNOW Him and EXPERIENCE His infinite love for us by being joined to us.

The long Christmas season is reminding us that His Incarnation is making it possible for people to relate to Jesus in a truly personal way. He would be able to be held and kissed, seen and heard. Conversely, He was also able to be hurt, rejected and crucified. Through His Spirit, you and I can relate to Him in a truly personal way, Lover and beloved.

Last Friday, January 1st, we celebrated the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (Theotokos, “Bearer of God”), and then the Holy Family on the weekend. This weekend the Church is celebrating the Epiphany of the Lord. Over the next weeks and months, the Church will be reflecting on the deeper meaning of Jesus’ Incarnation and Birth and His wanted impact in our lives. For this reason, on the first day of the New Year, we focus on our Lady who is known, not for what she achieved, but in how she avails herself completely and obediently to God. Christmas isn’t just ‘a day,’ it is the way of life, and the Invitation God is giving everyone.

On behalf of our Parish Office and R.E. Staff and Volunteers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Altar Servers and Sacristan, I wish to thank each of you, and wish you a most blessed and grace-filled Christmas and New Year.

May God bless you this New Year, 2016 and every day of your life.
