For all camping at St Ives Showground

Due to St Ives being a National Park, there is normally no camping allowed on the grounds.

The Dachshund Club Of NSW has been given approval to have

Dachshund Exhibitors Camp on the grounds at St Ives Showground for A Special Event

The 12TH Dachshund National Specialty Show

There is “No Provision for Dumping Of Waste Material” on the grounds.

There are plenty of facilities on the grounds for campers to use

Equipment Hire - Marquees

Cost covers set up and dismantle and hire for

the duration of the Show.

Marquees will be erected Wednesday March

29 and dismantled after the show.

Exhibitors wanting to hire a marquee should

get together with friends to hire one and split

the cost.

Marquees need to be reserved and a 50%

deposit paid by January 31.

Why Waratahs?

For a show with a trophy theme of all things Dachshund why

are all 1st place getters receiving a Waratah Mug and all Best

Opposites receiving a Waratah Plate?

Well may you ask. Almost eighteen years ago the NSW Club

was planning to hold the 2003 National. Naturally there was

heated discussion about the design of a logo for the show.

Moira Sherwood insisted that because the waratah is the

Floral emblem of our state it should be a waratah. My

thoughts were that because the show was to be held in

Sydney that our Harbour Bridge and our New Year’s Eve

fireworks should feature. I won a hollow victory as I was

designing the logo. Moira was gracious but I know she

would rather had had her waratah theme. So this time around

the Waratah prevailed. Somewhere in the Heavens I imagine

her smiling her wry smile denoting her pleasure!

Trophy Donations

Planning for the 2018 Dachshund National Specialty Championship Show next Easter at the

magnificent St Ives Showgrounds is well advanced. This was one of the major venues for

dog shows in Sydney prior to the establishment of the

Bill Spilstead Complex for Canine Affairs at Orchard Hills.

There are expansive grassed areas for dog showing and exercising.

Parking and camping are accommodated beneath the tree canopy which extends from the

adjoining Ku-Ring-Gai National Park.

An indoor area is available in the event of bad weather and catering and bath room facilities are excellent.

Best of all, we have the venue to ourselves.

From all indications, the trophy table will also be magnificent.

As well as cash prizes and practical items for dog showing and breeding, it will also include

Kathy Anderson’s amazing collection of rare and prized Dachshund inspired items

which she has kindly donated.

It includes unique, individual Limited Edition plates, original paintings, statuettes etc.

This is a wonderful start and all members and exhibitors are invited to make a

Cash Donation of $10.00 or more

which will be acknowledged in the show catalogue. The funds received will be used towards

12th National Dachshund Specialty Show Fundraiser

Handcrafted Quilt made by

Jan’s handwork is exquisite and the picture does not do the finished product justice!

The quilt is made from flannelette, measures 150cm X 150cm and was designed to be used

as a bed throw or a cosy lap quilt

Tickets are $5.00 each or three (3) for $10.00

Camping for the National Dachshund Specialty Show 2018 at St Ives Showgrounds. 10am 11/1/2018

Updated camp site list

Great news we now have more camping spots with power outlets across from camp site 1 & 2 near the toilets , the event area camp site 4 so we will all be close to one another. Anyone who wants to camp behind the oval near the hot showers in camp site 3 is good to do so also.

Payment for camping stating -camping and number of nights staying can be sent to Pat Thomas at $35 (via inter-net transfer or cheque)a night power site.

I will no longer be marking out sites however I will designate maximum number of people allowed in camp area 1 & 2 and rest in camp area 4.

Anyone else will be added to camp site 4 most likely.

Note: I will be there to help anyone, I just don’t know if I’m camping all the time or I’m going back n fourth to St Ives. This will be updated as I know more.
