JobScout & The LCFF State Priorities

With schools now needing to set performance measures of how Local Control and Accountability Plans meet the LCFF State Priorities, JobScout provides an out of the box solution to both supporting student outcomes and measuring success. JobScout has been successful in its statewide use across California with diverse groups of learners, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, English learners and students with disabilities.

How JobScout Meets the LCFF Areas of State Priority

✓ Parental Involvement

LCFF mandates that LCAP’s include plans on how schools will increase parental involvement with their pupil’s education. With the transition to one-to-one device policies and online systems, digital literacy learning is a primary way that parents can learn the skills they need to support their child’s learning and interact more with the school and the education process.

✓ Implementation of Academic Content & Common Core Standards

JobScout can help English learners move towards Common Core requirements in computer, career and technical education. This is an important part of Common Core for all students.

✓ Pupil Achievement

JobScout’s ability to be customized allows school districts to create paths to internship and learning opportunities about career options. These experiences can help students to set goals, enhance college applications and increase college acceptance rates.

✓ Pupil Engagement

JobScout helps focus learners on the bigger picture and the opportunities that lie beyond their education once they earn their diploma. JobScout’s data analytics capabilities can help school districts keep a pulse on their learners once they leave the classroom.

✓ Pupil Access to a Broad Course of Study

JobScout helps to supplement career and technical education. Through one platform, students can learn the skills they need to find internships and other work experience while in school and once they graduate. It is an effective and affordable solution that can be used any device and at any time.

✓ Other Pupil Outcomes

JobScout teaches an essential life skill and helps students set goals, helping to get students towards graduation and a productive life path.

JobScout can be integrated into English learning curriculum and easily be part of summer and after school programs focused on achievement of digital literacy skills and career and technical education requirements.

Executive Order S-06-09 addresses digital literacy skills for the workforce. The California Department of Education is a member of the Leadership Advisory Committee for implementation of the Order (http://gov.ca.gov/news.php?id=12393).  The Career Pathways grant process requires that applicants leverage existing regional, state and local investments. JobScout easily meets that requirements, having been a statewide program for over two years.

JobScout was built by TRAIL with funding from the state. JobScout complements  regional workforce skills programs designed for Career Pathways Grants. The new ICT model anchor standards address digital literacy and career planning/management as knowledge and skills students must know. JobScout lessons are mapped to the California Basic Digital Literacy Skills Framework. The platform provides assessment tools for students and analytics for educators.
