    Questions

Do you think animal testing is wrong?

What is your church view on animal testing?

What do you think are alternatives to animal testing? (Awareness of change)

What do you think specifically of cloning?

Do you think that man should create animals? If so why?

There are purpose - bred animals who are created for experimentation and for use by consumers. Do

    you think this is right?

On a realistic standpoint do you think that there might be advantages to animal testing?

Other than the dangers they post to animals what are the disadvantages of animal testing?

    Religious influences

From the beginning of time, there has been the ongoing of the worlds greatest argument.

Science versus Religion. These two beliefs have disagreed with one another from the very start

and arguments have been made in support and against each one. There have been division of

persons in society that argue that religion is the way of life and others who argue that science is

the true belief. Persons who believe in religion are usually in contradiction of science and vice

versa. This has led to significant influences on the beliefs of religion and that of science. Animal

testing is one other scientific embankment taken on by man that religion has disagreed with from

    the beginning.

Religion argues animal testing on a moral basis, whether it is wrong or right. It is said in their

doctrine that it is morally wrong to kill or hurt animals whether for an ulterior purpose or not. In

various tests whether it is drug test, genetic test, cosmetics or behavioral they believe man should

not use animals for experimentation. In religion, on a moral standpoint the dangers of animal

testing overshadow the advantages of its practice.

Another argument by religion is the creation of purpose bred animals. Various religious

organizations argue that selective breeding is wrong, they believe in creationism and that the

creator whether it be GOD or Allah etecra is the one who created all things and that man should

not be able to make their own life creation and alter the laws of religion.

Another controversial argument of animal testing and religion is the issue of cloning. Animals

are used in cloning experiments that make scientist able to duplicate the DNA of animals thus

creating more of the same kind of animal. *bring reference to the cloning experiment*

With all this and more, religion has had an immense influence on the continuation of animal

testing. Societies in different countries are so led by their religious beliefs that they have banned

animal testing and have made it an illegal to use animals for any kind of experimentation. Places

such as Europe who is known for being run by a monarchy have banned animal testing from

being conducted. China who is predominantly Buddhism in religion has allowed the continuation

of animal testing, so much so to the extent that majority of its practice takes place in China. This

is because animal testing is acceptable in the Buddhism religion and culture.

Religions such as Islamic, Judaism, Buddhism and Christianity have all played a significant role

in the shaping of society and its beliefs today. These religions all have different takes on the

issue of animal testing and but in essence most of them do converge at a point. They argue that

animals should not be used in experimentation for any purpose. These arguments have set the

groundwork for many campaigns and have caused many organizations and members of society

to take a stance on the issue of animal testing.

    Hunger and farming

Another major influence of animal testing is its involvement in agriculture. Animal testing plays

a huge role in modern agriculture. It involves the use of experimentation of animals that would

serve a purpose in farming and cultivation. By experimenting on animals, scientists are able to

create better methods of production that farmers can use to help their work on the field. This is

done through a process called selective breeding. Selective breeding is the process in which

animals are bred with desired traits by using animals of different species.

The complex concept of selective breeding can simply be explained with an example. A species

of chicken is able to lay a hug supply of eggs at one sitting; another species of chicken has

thicker muscle and thus produces more meat than other species of the same chicken. With the

use of science and experimentation, scientists can breed these two species of the same animal

together to produce a new animal or species that is able to lay a larger supply of eggs and

produce more meat. This in itself is one benefit to the farmers in agriculture; they are able to

breed animals that can be used in farming that possess the traits that the farmers are interested in.

Other species of animals made by selective breeding and are known for their use in agriculture

are cows, cows that produce more milk are bred together and those that produce more beef are

    selectively bred.

There are other benefits to the farmers from animal experimentation that do not necessarily

involve selective breeding. When scientists experiment on animals they are able to create new

drugs that help them resist diseases and plagues that are widespread for these animals. Therefore

the immune systems of these animals are improved and the animals are better able to survive

these conditions. This benefits the farmers as less animals are affected by these diseases and

more are able to survive thus increasing production.

Modern agriculture therefore has a major influence over the continuation of animal testing as a

huge part of its practice is centered in it. Farmers argue that animal testing is necessary for

economic growth and should be continued in society as a practice.

    Economic orders

Another influence on animals the economic debate put forward by countries. Well developed

countries are able to have dominance over poorly developed countries.

    This creates an economic imbalance.
