Helpful Tips

Breakfast:Breastmilk or 4-6 oz formulaBaby cereal mixed with breastmilkor formula, 2-4 TbspApplesauce, 2-4 Tbsp

Mid-morning:Breastmilk or 5-6 oz formula2 unsalted crackers, small piecesSmall pieces of cheese, 1 TbspBaby food vegatables, 2-4 Tbsp

Lunch:Breastmilk or 4-6 oz formulaFork-mashed bean, 1-2 TbspChopped soft-cooked greenbeans, 2-4 Tbsp1/2 whole-wheat tortilla, in small pieces

Mid-afternoon:

Baby cereal mixed with breastmilkor formula, 2-4 Tbsp

Breastmilk or 4-6 oz formulaChopped soft-cooked green beans, 2-4 Tbsp

Night time:

Foods to AVOID the first year:Cow’s milk and honey

Feed according to your baby’ssigns of hunger and fullness

Wait a couple days in betweeneach new food to watch forsigns of a food allergy

Start with 1-2 tablespoons of food and add more if yourbaby is still hungry

Juice is not recommended for babies. If you do offer juice, donot offer juice before 6 monthsof age. After 6 months, offer in a cup without a lid and limit to 4ounces per day

You may offer small amounts of water in a cup (up to 8oz/day)once your baby starts solid foods

Do not add baby food or cerealto the bottle, unless advised by a doctor

If your baby is ready, begin introducing solid foods 1-3 times per day. As your baby gets older, work up to 3-4 times a day
