• Three Contact Centres in Operation
immediately
• Vulnerable Customers Prioritised
• Communications ongoing
• IT Systems Performed exceptionally well
From: RMDS Sent: 16 October 2017 16:14 Cc: RMDS <[email protected]> Subject: Storm Ophelia - ESB Networks Update at 4pm ESBN have requested RMDS to circulate the following note to ROI participants:
The map below shows the number of customers without electricity at 3.46pm today. The main headlines at this point in Day 1 include:
361k customers out nationwide. Cork City and County was badly effected with over 100k customers without power (5 stations lost due to fault in East Cork);
The Storm in the South and South West appeared to ease around 2.30pm. Widespread damage and outages are evident across the South of the country.
ESB Networks crews were dispatched in the last hour across the South of the country;
The focus for today continues to be (1) make safe and (2) assess damage and scale of repair where it is safe to do so;
Clare/Galway/Mayo & South East (Wexford/Waterford/South Dublin) continue to feel the force of
the storm at the moment. Crews in these locations are only responding to emergency situations until the winds calm and the working environment is safe;
The main cause of damage is downed timber;
Given the extraordinary scale of damage today, it is important to note that the repairs will take an extended period of time to complete.
If you have any particular questions, please let me know.
Monday 23rd October 2017• The General Enquiries line and Suppliers line re-open• ESBN Supplier Support team re-open for normal business• Re-Energisation calls continue to be prioritised for completion at the earliest
opportunity• Non critical suppliers call will be processed in Dublin areas
Wednesday 25th October 2017• Suppliers can re commence logging De-Energisation calls in all locations.• Non critical suppliers calls for national areas (outside Dublin) can be logged• ESB Networks will then schedule same for completion as resources become
available

What is GDPR?
The EU General Data Privacy and Regulation
(GDPR) is coming into force in May 2018
Mandatory compliance
Time for immediate action
GDPR is a ‘game changer’ in the world of privacy. All organisations processing data must
become compliant with this regulation
The regulation will become applicable on 25 May 2018. Implementation must start immediately
• Workshop Objectives
• Understand where and what personal data is stored and processed for your
Business Unit (as is)
• This will help identify and inform where changes are needed to meet GDPR
requirements (gap analysis)
28 esb.ie
ESB has a role to play
We must prepare for this new regulation and be compliant by May
2018.
Our approach:
We are
here
September – November• Workshops across each
business unit to complete a
‘current state’ impact
assessment of GDPR – I.e.
what changes are required?
October- DecemberIdentify a prioritized list of business
changes required to become GDPR
compliant and agree the mechanism
through which those changes will be
implemented I.e.
• Effort & Resource Estimate
• Determination of whether
incorporated into existing projects
or a new project
February - May• Implement Changes
• Track/ Collate / Monitor
progress of business
changes in order to
become GDPR
compliant
Carry out a GDPR Impact Assessment across ESB
GAP Analysis - Assess existing
personal data processes
Identify if changes required

ESB Networks I-SEM Programme - General Update
We are continuing to work with the RAs, the Eirgrid I-SEM Project and the other Meter Data Providers
through the I-SEM Metering Working Group
We are represented at the Market Trials Working Group which Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project has established.
At this time there remains NO Change to our understanding which remains that
• No Changes are indicated to the Harmonised Retail Market Schema or the COBL
• D+1, D+4, M+4, M+13 Settlements will continue to operate on a Working Day basis for ESBN, with no
change to Frequency
• Need to concurrently operate the SEM and I-SEM until Re-Settlement of the SEM completes
• No Meter Data will be Price Effecting in the I-SEM and so I-SEM will not use the Price-Effecting
category
• I-SEM Market Trials will run 1st Dec 2017 - May 2018
• The Go-Live date for the I-SEM is 23rd May 2018
32 esbnetworks.ie
From the Last IGG on 30.08.2017:
Update 25.10.2017: On the 7 Supplier Units: 6 SUs have moved to become Price Effecting
in the SEM, and the remaining Supplier Unit move is pending.
Price Effecting Units
SEM-O have identified 7 Supplier Units that are currently Non-Price Effecting, and they have started work with MRSO
to move them to become Price Effecting in the SEM. This means that Eirgrid will become the MDP for them in the
SEM.
Eirgrid and SEM-O have confirmed the Units that will move from Eirgrid being their MDP in the SEM to
MRSO becoming their MDP in the I-SEM. These are the current stats, at time of writing:
• 32 Distribution Connected GUs will become NPEG from PEG
• 13 SUs will become NPED from PED
The current List of Distribution Connected Price Effecting Generator MPRNs is available on the RMDS website Here
Please Note: this list is subject to change over time as new Units meet the criteria to become Price Effecting in the
wholesale market
We are continuing to work closely with Eirgrid and SEM-O on the cutover implications and the timeline for their moving
in the I-SEM.

ESB Networks I-SEM Programme – Market Trials
From the Last IGG on 30.08.2017:
We are represented at the Market Trials Working Group which the I-SEM Programme has established.
It is too early yet to give you a detailed view from that, however as previously flagged:
Unscripted Phase of the Market Trials & the RoI Retail Market
For the I-SEM Market Trials Unscripted phase, our intention for RoI Suppliers and Eirgrid TSO is to make
available, for those who want them,
• For Suppliers; the 341,59x series of messages and 342 message for the Suppliers own generators.
• For Eirgrid TSO; the 341,342, 59x series of messages
Naturally this means that if you want to get these messages from the Market Trials then you will need to have a
test EMMA that is available for the duration of the Unscripted Market Trials phase. You should also plan to allow
for a period beforehand , possibly for a few weeks , in which your test EMMA will be connected to our dedicated
I-SEM test environments.
We understand that the Unscripted phase will run from Mid March 2018 thru Mid-May 2018
For planning purposes, can you let us know if you intend to avail of this facility?
34 esbnetworks.ie
ESB Networks I-SEM Programme – Market Trials
• We are currently finishing out a phase of testing that has been established by Eirgrid’s I-SEM project , and which they have named CCQT (Communication Channel Qualification Testing)
• This phase provided Meter Data Providers with a technical environment in which we could conduct an
interface test to verify the ESB Network’s ability to interact with the Wholesale Market.
• This work is still outgoing but hopefully should be completed over the next days
• Included in our test suite is a move of one GU from PEG to NPEG and a move of one SU from PED to
NPED. This test has been coordinated with Eirgrid.

ESB Networks I-SEM Programme – Market TrialsInformation for Suppliers who opt-in to hook up their test EMMA
Information for Suppliers who opt-in to hook up their test EMMA to the ESBN dedicated Market Trials
environment
The ESB Networks I-SEM Programme thanks all the Suppliers who have responded to our request to advise that
they wish to hook up their test EMMA to the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment so as to receive selected
Retail Market Messages from the Unscripted Market Trials.
Best endeavours, we will plan to do the hook up on a first-come-first-served basis, as far as possible and taking your own technical availability that you will advise us into account (EMMA status, Staffing constraints, etc).
As stated at the IGG Con Call on 4.10.2017, we want to advise Suppliers that the window to respond is still Open, however for our planning purposes we ask any further Suppliers who wish to avail of this facility to get back to us no later than 3rd Jan 2018
• After that it will still be possible to get your test EMMA hooked up to the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment, unfortunately we can’t at this time give any guarantee that it will be ready for you in time for the start of Unscripted Market Trials.
• Likewise, should there be a volume of requests arriving in to us around Jan 3rd, we may not be able to get them all hooked up in time for the start of Unscripted Market Trials, so please let us know as early as you can.
In early January, we will be in touch with each Supplier who has opted-in to avail of this facility.
Before 30 December, can you please send in your contact details: name, phone, email, (business and technical) to [email protected]

ESB Networks I-SEM Programme – Market Trials
We are represented at the Market Trials Working Group which Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project has established. At time of drafting these slides, pending the publication of key documentation, it is not possible to give you a firm view from that, however, this is our current understanding.
NB This is subject to change and we will update you as soon as possible if there are any items coming to our attention that impact on the RoI Retail Market.
There are three phases of the Eirgrid I-SEM Project’s Market Trials viz.
1. Establishment
2. Scripted
3. Unscripted
1. Establishment – starting 1st December 2017. During this phase we will be connecting up our ESB Networks dedicated I-SEM environment to the Eirgrid I-SEM Project’s Market Trials environment
2. Scripted – approx two months running mid Jan 2018 thru mid March 2018 during which we will submit fabricated MM590s or run aggregations , as needed, to support the requirements of the Eirgrid I-SEM Project’s Market Trials. We will follow the aggregation calendar set out by Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project.
3. Unscripted – running after Scripted ends from approx mid March 2018 during which we will run aggregations along a predefined run schedule. We will follow the aggregation calendar set out by Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project.

ESB Networks I-SEM Programme – Market Trials
Registration Data
Suppliers and Generators have been engaged in a Market Trial registration process with Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project
• We have received Market Trial registration information from Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project on Supplier Units, Participant Generator Units, Trading Sites etc. so that we can set up the same registration data in the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
• On foot of these, we plan to get in touch with RoI Retail Market Suppliers by 15th December 2017 advising you of the detail of the Units that we have set up in the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
• This is for your information & to inform your understanding of the content of the Market Trials MM590
• And is regardless of whether or not you have requested to have your test EMMA hooked up to the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
• We would like to get from you any changes needed in the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment before the start of Market Trials: Therefore, can you Please submit details by 30 Nov 2017 via the new processes designed specifically for Market Trials viz
• I-SEM Market Trials-2 : Distribution Connected Non Participant Generator Export Arrangements

ESB Networks I-SEM Programme – Market Trials
Data
• Eirgrid’s I-SEM Project is looking for MM590s to be based on realistic data, and noting that it is not a Commercial trial. To that end, we are planning to take a copy of the live dataset from 31st October and load this into the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
• Our ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment will not be updated with customer or meter movements, or NQH reads, but will have daily QH reads uploaded into it from the time we take the copy of the live dataset.
Information for Suppliers who opt-in to avail of the facility to hook up their test EMMA
• Our intention is to block any 010, 015 or any other MM inbound from every Supplier Test EMMA that has been hooked up to our ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
• Exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis and we would appreciate early sight from yourselves should you be needing to submit any MM in ESBN’s dedicated Market Trials environment.
• Should an 010 be needed, say for a very large QH site, this would be expected to be similar to an 010 for an MPRN that has already been submitted in the live production environment.
• As workflows complete out you can expect to see sundry MMs other than MM59x series of messages and 342 message for the Supplier’s generators, and this could be as early as from the time your test EMMA is hooked up to the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
• Please note: As we work through detailed Planning for Market Trials, its becoming clear that we will not be in a position to send MM341 by default thru the ESBN dedicated Market Trials environment.
