Choosing the Correct Glove

Hands are probably the most industrious part of human anatomy. Selecting the correct glove for the job at hand is essential to ensure user safety and product protection. Sänger Occupational offers an array of gloves to suit a multi-tude of requirements. Following features should be considered in selecting a glove:

• Could cause allergic reactions in rare instances

• Poor resistance against petroleum and oil-based chemicals• Poor flame resistance 17°C to 100°C

• Poor resistance to tear• Poor resistance to ketones

ThicknessDeciding the right glove thickness is a trade-off between dexterity and the level of protection sought against hazards.

Elastomer

Choosing the appropriate elastomer or glove material for a given application is a crucial step in selecting the correct glove. Listed below are some main factors to be considered.

Information about protective gloves within the European Guideline 89/686/EEC for personal protective equipment PPE

Category I:

The responsible manufacturer has the duty to declare the conformity to EU legislation 686. This is documented by the CE-sign.

This category includes gloves which protect the user against minimal risk which he can judge by oneself, i.e. household and garden work, single use gloves etc.

• They offer protection: Against mechanical injuries on the surface• Against mild aggressive cleaning agents • Against risk when handling parts with a maximum temperature of 50°C which do not cause dangerous impacts • Climatic conditions which are neither excep tional nor extreme• Mild impacts and oscillations• Sun exposure

Category II:

After successful design examination by a noti-fied body the manufacturer declares the con-formity to EU-guideline and describes the per-formance profile based on the examination.

The gloves or their packing have to feature pictograms describing the protective level. This is documented by the CE-sign plus the four digit notified bodies identification number.

Category III:

As in category II plus the manufacturing takes place under an approved quality system or under surveillance by notified body.

The product design is complex and protects the user against serious, irreversible risks.
