Chapter 5: Codes and Related Provisions Brisbane City Plan 2000 —Volume 1 Chapter 5, page 111 Industrial Areas—Adjacent Development Code 1 Application This Code will apply in assessing: a material change of use and/or building work and/or reconfiguring a lot that involves an increase in the number of people on site where: - any part of the site falls within 1,500m of a major hazardous industry or within 1,500m of existing Major Hazard Facilities as indicated on Maps A and B—Industrial Areas—Adjacent Development Code - any part of the site is within 500m of a Heavy Industry Area - any part of the site is within 500m of an Extractive Industry Area or a mining lease - any part of the site is within 150m of a General Industry Area and the use includes a child care facility, education purposes, major hospital and medical facility, or residential development for people with special needs any proposal that falls within the previously prescribed distances for which a Structure Plan has been requested. This Code does not apply to: a multi–unit or single unit dwelling in a Residential Area a house. 2 Using this Code In using this Code reference should also be made to Section 1.1—How to use the Codes, at the front of this Chapter. This Code is only ever called up as a ‘secondary’ Code by some other Code. This Code is to be read as part of that other Code. Glossary Major Hazard Facility: as defined by the Worksafe Australia National Standard Control of Major Hazard Facilities NOHSC: 1014 (1996) 3 Purpose The purpose of this Code is to: ensure that development adjacent to industrial areas and Major Hazard Facilities is compatible with the present and future uses within these areas. 4 Performance Criterion and Acceptable Solution Industrial Areas—Adjacent Development Code Amended 1 July 2004 Performance Criteria Acceptable Solutions P1 The level of risk to public safety, property and the environment from technological hazards (including fire, explosion and chemical release) must be within acceptable limits Note: level of risk can be determined using methodology outlined in the Hazard and Risk Assessment Planning Scheme Policy A1.1 Uses involving an increase in the number of people on site are not within: 1,500m of a Major Hazard Facility 500m of a Heavy Industry Area 500m of an Extractive Industry Area 150m of a General Industry Area OR A1.2 Where uses are within the distances outlined in A1.1, the level of risk from adjacent industry is within acceptable limits

Industrial Areas—Adjacent Development Code

1 Application

This Code will apply in assessing:

• a material change of use and/or building work and/or reconfiguring a lot that involves an increase in the number of people on site where:
