You know in any event you attend, be it a ride to a local favorite, or a charity event, or even a rally for your Chapter, District or Region the true Fun is just being with your friend’s new and old that you continue to laugh with, ride with, or just plain hang out with, that truly continue to make this the greatest organization in the world.

If you doubt this take the observation from a single 28 year old first time passenger on her first Goldwing Rally. Yes she’s my daughter but after years of her asking “why do you guys always spend so much time riding to all this stuff ?? Well after getting the full blown experience of a Rally from the camping “getting there at 11:00 that night after working 12 hours prior, and the cold rain , and the schedule of “wow” there’s a lot to do . I can speak for her personally that she never hugged as much made as many friends, saw so many beautiful bikes, and made so many friends in her life. And the light parade and dinner ride as well as the donation to Becky from the member’s out of their own pockets for her cancer drive well?? Know she’s hooked and the answer to here original question is completely answered. It just goes to prove once they get involved the rest is simple.

As far as District events up and coming there’s our fall fest October 4th with camping available on the Friday the 3rd “optional”. Just come for the weekend and relax with friends or ride down for the day. Don’t forget one canned food item for the pot one for the needy .Also our Fall District meeting October 25th. Where you can learn about what’s new with the District and also participate in your ideas as well.

Until we meet again remember, Ride safe, laugh aloud, eat lots of ice cream

Hi Everyone,

The Region D RallyVention is over and what a great time we had, despite the rainy and cold weather. Approximately 130 members attended John and Shirley’s Thursday evening Dinner Ride. It was great food and lots of fun and laughs. Hat’s off to the Lee’s for setting up this ride. The Cow Patty Bingo did alot better than we had expected, and even though I think they picked a constipated cow, we still had lots of fun and laughs. The Skillet Toss and Chicken Chunkin’ were both well attended and all had tons of fun and laughs. The Dunk Tank was busy while all the Directors took their turn at taking their yearly bath while providing more fun and laughs. Are you starting to see a pattern here? Fun and laughs, it’s what attending GWRRA events is all about. If you aren’t attending, you are missing out. Come join us at the next event and see how much fun it can be.

Congrats to Indiana’s very own Gary and Carol Meyerholtz forbeing named the Region D Couple of the Year. What an honor it is to be selected Region COY and we look forward to supporting them at Wing Ding in Huntsville.

The Annual Fall Fest is coming up on October 4th and the Fall Officers Meeting will be held on October 25th. Mark these dates on your calendars and plan to attend.

I haven’t visited my Upper Northeast Chapters recently, so I am about to start another round of visitations. If you see my Silver Trike pull into the parking lot at your meeting place, please don’t lock the doors. I am very persistent and I will return incognito if need be.

Remember, to get the most out of your membership, you need toPARTICIPATE, PARTICIPATE, PARTICIPATE !

Drive safe and be careful.

“Th-Th-Th-Th-Th-... That’s all, folks”!

Happy Trails

WE are getting some cool weather a little early this year…so getout and enjoy riding while we still can…remember to watch out for Deer, they are running now since the farmers are in the fields!!!

At the Region D Masters Breakfast, Mike and Joyce Nelson received the Rider Ed Merit award…we are very proud of them….We also were honored to have the Directors of GWRRA Ray & Sandi Garris at the breakfast. Ray spoke, he said how important the Master’s Program is to GWRRA and said he was proud of each one for their dedication. He also suggested that each Chapter should recognize their Masters in their Newsletters. We are always encouraging the Levels program because it includes Riding courses, First Aid & CPR to help you become a better Motorcycle rider…when you don’t think you need training and riding practice YOU are not prepared for the unexpected. Even if you don’t participate in the Levels program…Please take the Rider Courses and seminars offered by GWRRA. These could possibly save you lives.

If you didn’t attend the Region D Rally you missed a good time!!! There was so much to do, Couple of the Year Selection, Pie Eating contest, Corn husking contest, Carnival games, Thursday Night Dinner Ride led by John & Shirley Lee, Friday night dinner, cow patty Bingo, Tractor pulls, Seminars, Light Parade, Auctions and so much more!!! The New Region D Couple of the Year is our own Gary & Carol Meyerholtz from Indiana!! We are proud of them!

RIDE SAFE….SAFETY IS FOR LIFE!!!!

Hello District Indiana Members,

Fall Fest is here and being held at the Decatur County Fair Grounds in Greensburg (Please note the location has changed) on October 4th. This may be a great time to do a color ride and enjoy a great meal and fellowship with other chapters and members. If you like to camp you could arrive on Thursday and enjoy a long weekend with fellow Wingers.

The District meeting is scheduled for October 25th At the Main Street Church of God in Anderson IN. The meeting starts at 8:00 AM with breakfast served by the Church Youth Group and is very good. They also will be serving Lunch and the meeting should end around 3:00 PM. I would like to at least see all Chapter Directors from our area attend this meeting. As far as that goes all Chapters should have representatives in attendance. At the meeting information will be available of up-coming District events and other vital District info. Best of all you will be able to socialize with fellow GWRRA members.

The Chapters in the Northwest area; Chapter U2 is continuing the month of October with dinner get-together’s by bike or car. Chapter S2 is also having their dinner get- together’s through the month of October. Chapter H is doing dinner rides and or drives on Wednesday nights. They have their annual Haystack Dinner coming up; this is always a good time. Chapter Q2 is also doing their dinner rides and or drives on Tuesday nights. Finally, we have Chapter O2 and they have a very important event coming up. On the first Thursday in November, their meeting night, they will be hosting their annual Pound Auction at the Christiana Creek Country Club. At the auction they will auction off items that have been brought in by members and other participants. The items are for the most part wrapped so what-ever you bid on is a surprise, and that makes the event a fun time for all.

Fall is not the time to park the bike, you still have many opportunities to ride. October is a month that can be cool or very warm and just think of all the trees turning different colors. Get out and see the colors enjoy the weather but be careful all the leaves on the roads can be very slippery when wet.

One more thing to start thinking about, February is not far away and that means Winter Rendezvous, a major District event, start thinking about the fun to come.

OK, Ride Often and Ride Safe

HELLO HOOSIERS

It is hard for me to believe that it is the end of September already. It seems like yesterday that we were getting our bikes ready for the riding season.

We have had a fun filled season from Spring Wing in Bloomington, Chapter rides, Wing Ding, and all of the other Rally’s that Carol and I have attended.

Chapter O had a very busy September from going to several different eating places to a Drive-In Theater and to Drag Racing. October looks like another busy month for them. They plan on riding in Evansville Fall Festival Parade, a Clay Pigeon Shoot and a “Ride to Ride”.

Chapter Z is getting read for their 3-Z ride which consisted of Chapter Z’s from Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. In October, campingat Boggs Lake. Sounds fun.

Chapter M had their annual 911 Memorial Ride this year they went to Owenboro, KY at the Old Hickory Bar-B-Que.

For those of you that missed it Region D’s Rally was great. It started off with the diner ride led by John & Shirley Lee. They do such a wonderful job with that ride and we always have something good to eat once we get there, thank you again John and Shirley.

There was so many things to do at the rally that there was no way you could do it all, from seminars to games and rides.

Carol and I got to help with the corn shucking contest, Boy can some of you really shuck, and then we got to eat it at diner that night.

Indiana District camped in a group and put Green lights up on our campers. You didn’t have any trouble finding us after the sun went down.

Some of the games included Dunk the District Directors, Chicken Toss, Iron Skillet Toss and Tractor Pulls. I think everyone had lots of fun except for maybe the District Directors, it was kind of chilly to sit in a dunking booth.

Then there was the Region Couple of the Year selection. The Couples included John and Dee Aires from Ohio, Gary and Carol Williams from Michigan and Your very own ADD’s Gary and Carol Meyerholtz. Niles Robinson said that Gary & Carol

had a 66% chance of being selected and he was right Gary & Carol were selected. They said that anyone of the Couples would have made a good Couple for Region D. As it turned out it was Gary & Carol Meyerholtz that was selected and we are looking forward to representing Region D at Wing Ding.

Our next District events is the Fall Fest, October 4th. Come early to camp and enjoy the good company. Then October 25th is our District Fall Meeting in Anderson, at the Main Street Church of God. We hope to see everyone there.

Greetings;

Well, I think Indiana did good representing Region D at the rally! The corn husking contest was a great hit, even if we did lose to Ohio. John and Shirley Lee’s dinner ride was well attended and enjoyed by all.

Brrrrrrr the weather has gotten cooler (yeah we are warm weather people), but it is a great time to go riding. The leaves will soon be changing and who doesn’t like to see that. Just be careful on those slick leaves.

Chapter B will be parking cars for Harvest Homecoming on Thursday and Friday October 9-10 if anyone is coming down for the festival. Look them up. They will be on State Street at the Sav-a-Step.

Fall Fest is just around the corner. Come and eat soup and catch up with old and new friends.

Don’t forget, Winter Rendezvous is fast approaching. Think warm, with Hawaiian breezes. Hopefully everyone is planning on attending and entering all the contests. The more, the merrier

Keep your knees in the breeze and the shiny side up!

Couple ofthe Year

2014

HELLO FROM YOUR DISTRICT COUPLE OF THE YEAR

We have had a great month, from chapter rides to chapter gatherings, and even a Region rally along the way.

We had a blast at the Region D Rally. It started off with the Thursday Night Dinner ride lead by John And Shirley Lee and boy do they do a great job with that ride.

Indiana District Team all camped in a group so we got plenty of time to visit with each other.

Then there was the other Couples of the Year, Ohio’s Couple John & Dee Aires and Michigan’s Couple Gary & Carol Williams, we tried to get John & Dee to change their name to Gary & Carol but they said NO for some reason, we thought it would be fun to have all of the Couples with the same first names. All the Couples got to do Camp site judging with together. It was nice getting to know them. Both are really great Couples and fun to be around.

Friday night we had the Region D Couple selection and guess what, Gary & Carol were selected as the Region D Couple of the Year and will represent Region D at Wing Ding in Huntsville, Al. next year over labor day. So, make plans to go support our new Region D Couple of the Year. Just a thought, but wouldn’t it be great if everyone from Region D would wear Royal Blue to the selection, Region colors? That way it would be easy for Gary & Carol to see where all of you were sitting. Oh! I think I forgot to mention that it is Gary & Carol Meyerholtz that was selected as Couple of the Year. And what a shock it was when we were anounced as Region D’s Couple. Carol and I know that this year will be the busiest year that we have ever had with GWRRA and are looking forward to every minute.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all the help we have received along the way and to let you know we will do our best to represent Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan to the best of our ability.

Your Indiana District and Region D Couple of the Year

Gary and Carol Meyerholtz

As Sandi and I visit various conventions around the country and read all of the many newsletters we receive, we are constantly reminded how much we owe our incredible Chapter Directors.

Here is the “short List”of “Thank Yous”:

• For entertaining the troops, making our Chapter gatherings FUN and entertaining for all of us.

• For leading our Chapter core team in providing our Members lots of fun events, both riding and socially.

• For helping to deliver to our doorstep all of the many learning opportunities that GWRRA has developed both with live Seminars and online.

• For inviting all of our Members to all of our rides, social events, conventions, etc. no matter whether they ride or on 2 , 3 or 4 wheels.

• Making sure that we welcome all riders to our gatherings and events, no matter what brand of bike or trike they ride.

• For helping to educate us on all of the many benefits that are included in our membership in GWRRA.

• For allowing all of our Members the opportunity to step up and volunteer for any position open in the Chapter Staff.

• For setting the example in Rider Education: Riding with proper gear and helping to remind us that our riding skills are “perishable” and need to be practiced often, whether on a bike or trike.

• For sharing with us the fabulous experiences available to all of us in the Couple Of the Year program and feeling the pride in the Chapter.

• For enriching our “Chapter Life” and helping us to know each other better while experiencing the many enjoyable facets of our membership in GWRRA.

WOW, this was only a “short list”. We are so fortunate to have so many wonderful Chapter Directors throughout our Association. Have you thanked yours lately?

Have FUN, go for a ride soon, C+BCN
