Indiana Code 25-1-9Chapter 9: Health Professions Standard of Practice

Findings required for sanction, evidenced of foreign discipline

(Reasons a nurse can lose their license)

1. Fraudulent or deceptive activity to acquire a license, including cheating on the exam.

2. Participating in fraud or deception in professional services and activities.

3. Been convicted of Insurance fraud.

4. Convicted of a crime that has a direct bearing on your ability to practice competently.

5. Is harmful to the public

6. Knowingly violates a state or federal law that regulates the profession.

7. Continuing to practice after being declared unfit to do so.

8. Failure to keep abreast of current professional theory of practice.

9. A physical or mental disability that interferes with the ability to practice.

10. Addiction to, abuse of, or severe dependency upon alcohol or other drugs that endanger the public.

11. Engage in lewd or immoral conduct while delivering service to the public.

12. Allowing your name or license to be used by an individual to give services when they are not trained to do so.

13. Have disciplinary action against you by the state.

14. Providing a prescription drug or device to another person.

15. Knowingly prescribing or selling narcotics or addicting or dangerous drugs to a habitue or addict.

16. Failure to comply with an order imposing sanctions.

17. Engaging in sexual contact with a patient in a patient-practitioner relationship or using a sexual contact as a solicit.

18. Assisting another person in committing an act that would be grounds for disciplinary action by the state.
