Via de Cristo is an interdenominational ministry designed to assist disciples of Jesus in the renewing and deepening of their faith. Via de Cristo means “the Way of Christ” and began in Spain under the name “Cursillo”. The Via de Cristo Retreats are designed to be a means through which the Holy Spirit can work more effectively in and through the lives of the participants there-by strengthening their families, congrega-tions and the environments in which they live, work, and play. The weekend be-gins on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday afternoon. During the retreat par-ticipants enjoy singing, prayer, worship and discussions that are led by both lay people and clergy. For more information about Via de Cristo here at Indian River City Church please contact Dave and Kim Elmore at [email protected] or 321/267-3549. Adult Connections Our life in Christ was never meant to be lived alone. God de-sires that we grow together in community. Small Groups, Bi-bles Studies and classes allow you the opportunity to grow in your relationship with God and others.

Small Groups

At Indian River City UMC everyone is encouraged to get con-nected with other members and friends through a small group to share in Bible study, fellowship, and serving. We believe that life change happens best in a small group setting. Small groups meet weekly or bi-monthly on various days of the week and in different locations (homes in the community and on the church campus). The smaller size of these groups (4-15 people) allow you to experience more intimate fellowship and deeper relationships with others. We offer different kinds of small groups: Men Women Couples or Families Seniors To join a small group, contact Dawn Schissler, Adult Ministries Leader, at 267-7922, ext. 20 or [email protected].

Other Studies and classes include: Disciple Bible Study, The Truth Project, Beth Moore, and a variety of other studies covering a variety of topics. Please continue to check the weekly bulletin and monthly news-letter for new Studies and Classes, as well as pick up a List of Current Bible Studies and Classes in the lobbies of the Sanctuary and Wesley Hall. PERSONAL GROWTH We grow in our personal relationship with God through a daily time of reading the Bible and reflecting devotionally in prayer. Pastor Bill has encouraged us to join him daily in the Upper Room. The Upper Room is a daily devotion which invites us to ponder a scripture verse and hear real life application from authors around the world. We’re challenged by the readings to grow in our faith in new and exciting ways. There are two ways to access an Upper Room Devotional. 1. Pick up a hard copy at the Gazebo or Wesley Hall lobby on

Sunday mornings or stop by the church office during the week.

2. Go online to www.upperroom.org/devotionals. We look forward to “seeing” you in the Upper Room each day! Contact Dawn at 267-7922x20 or at [email protected] for questions or more information on the Upper Room. Thanks for continuing to check the weekly bulletin, newsletter, and church website for new Studies and Classes. Also, pick up a list of current Bible Studies and Classes in the Sanctuary and Wesley Hall lobbies.

Library

IRC has an outstanding library. We believe that providing a variety of Christian resources to help families and people grow in their faith ful-fills the church’s purpose to Bring People to Jesus. There is a large se-lection of Christian fiction, titles dealing with current events and cultur-al issues, books on spiritual growth and life issues, reference books, a wide variety of children’s books, and a large selection of family friend-ly DVDs. The library is open Sunday from 8:30 am to 12pm and Fridays from 9:00 - 11:30am. Most of the time a volunteer will be there to help you; if not, please use the self-check system. You are invited to visit the li-brary at other times by checking in at the church office, getting a visitor pass, and browsing the library using the self-check system. First time visitors please sign a patron form located on the library counter or table. To join the Library Team, contact Linda Stuck at 321-368-4006. Also, if you have materials to donate (current books and DVD’s) please make a list of the items with your name and number and leave the list on the check-out counter in the library.
