SP had stopped scholarships of SC, ST students: CM Yogi CM directs authorities to complete admission processes by December 30First India Bureau

Lucknow: Chief Minis-ter Yogi Adityanath on Thursday accused the previous Samajwadi Party government of discriminating against students from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and stopping their scholar-ships due to political vendetta.

“The previous gov-ernment used to dis-criminate before pro-viding scholarships to the children. They stopped providing scholarships particu-larly to the children be-longing to SC/ST com-munity,” asserted the Chief Minister while transferring scholar-ships of Rs 458.66 crore to as many as 12,17,631 students online.

During the pro-gramme, CM Yogi thew light on the anti-Dalit mentality of the Sama-jwadi Party. “When we came to power in 2017, we came to know that in 2016-17, only the schol-arship of SC, ST chil-dren was stopped. Our

government immedi-ately restored scholar-ships to the students,” he said.

Attacking the SP Chief, the CM said, “ The previous govern-ments played with the

lives and future of chil-dren to satisfy their po-litical interests. “In the last four and a half

years, our government has added more than 40 lakh children getting scholarships earlier,” .

CM Yogi, while inter-acting with students of different districts, con-gratulated them and said that due to Cov-id-19, a large number of school-colleges, poly-technics could not start their sessions. Due to the late admission of students, the scholar-ship is being sent in dif-ferent instalments. On October 2 also, the state government had sent the instalment of schol-arship to about 57 lakh students.

In addition, to the above, the Chief Minis-ter also directed to com-plete the admission pro-cess in various educa-tional institutions in the state by December 30 and send the scholar-ship amount to the ac-counts of eligible stu-dents. He said that the students should not face any problem in re-imbursement of fees or in purchasing any kind of course material for themselves.

In the year 2017, as soon as the government was changed, he said, the Kanwar Yatra was tak-en out with great fan-fare and since then, the state has not seen a sin-gle riot. The CM pointed out that Deepawali, Holi and all Hindu festivals were being celebrated without fear.

“Ending the wait of 500 years, the Modi gov-ernment has accelerat-ed construction work of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya,” Yogi said.He said that develop-ment had been given impetus in western UP. Before the year 2017, it used to take seven to eight hours to reach Delhi from Saharan-

pur, but now after the construction of high-way, Delhi can be reached in only two hours.

“The payment of sug-arcane to the farmers is being made in a time bound manner. Under our government, pay-ment to the tune of Rs 1.44 lakh crore has al-ready been made to cane farmers,” said the CM.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government will now be fast-tracking the pace of vaccination, this time with a special focus on the rural ar-eas. Vaccination is being undertaken by dividing the entire inoculation drive into three categories.

The UP govern-ment had in the early months of this year proved the doomsday sayers wrong with its sustained, focussed and extensive cam-paign against Covid, when they were pre-dicting that the coun-tryside will be rav-aged by the virus.

In the gram pan-chayats of the state where the first dose would have been completely given to the villagers, the pro-cess of giving the second dose will be started and not to stop at that, along with giving the name of the village “first dose saturated vil-lage”, the village

head will also be fe-licitated for the feat. At the same time, the village which com-pletes both the doses will be called as a ‘Covid-safe village’.Uttar Pradesh has played an important role in the pan-Indi-an vaccination cam-paign with its wide coverage of the popu-lation under the vac-cine umbrella.

From the very be-ginningof the pan-demic, Chief Minis-ter Yogi Adityanath laid special emphasis on the vaccination campaign, underlin-ing it as a strong weapon in dealing with the corona epi-demic.

Lucknow: Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, be-lieved to be the favour-ite abode of Lord Shiva with sacred river Ganga flowing by its side, is set to emerge as a symbol of nationality too in near future along with religion. The Uttar Pradesh Government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has an-nounced that it would soon install idols of Bharat Mata, Rani Ahilyabai, Kartikeya and Adi Shankaracha-rya in Kashi. Bharat Mata’s statue will be placed in the middle of Ganga, according to a statement.

Prime Minister Nar-endra Modi will give the gift of Vishwanath Dham to Shiva devotees this month itself. Work on the project, which also includes construc-tion of a corridor from the main temple to the ghat on the bank of

Ganga, apart from beautification and ex-pansion of the temple town, has been going on for the last four years under the direct moni-toring of CM Yogi and is on verge of comple-tion.

It is worth mention-ing here that Prime

Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foun-dation stone of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on March 8, 2019. The UP Government is completing the project in record time.

The project aims at facilitating access to the temple premises for

millions of devotees visiting the famous pil-grimmage centre of In-dia since time immemo-rial while beautifying and keeping the city clean in order to attract tourists. Kashi Vishwa-nath temple is getting a facelift for the first time since independence. The entire area around the temple is being ren-ovated and beautified.

It seeks to reunite Baba Vishwanath with Ganga. The idol of Bharat Mata, a symbol of nationality, will be placed between the courtyard of the temple and Ganga.

The idol of Kar-tikeya, Adi Shanka-racharya will be in-stalled in the grand courtyard of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Be-sides, the idol of Queen Ahilyabai, who recon-structed the temple in 1669, will also be in-stalled to remind people of the importance of nationalism.

After 2 days of lull, leopard spotted again on VSSD campusFirst India Bureau

Lucknow: The general public is constantly liv-ing in fear due to the spotting of the leopard, but amidst such a situa-tion the officers respon-sible for the catching of the leopard are showing no seriousness and could be found sleeping peacefully just after putting nets and cages.

There had been no leopard sighting for two days, but this all changed when it was caught on the camera trap of the Forest De-partment set in VSSD College.

The officers after re-viewing the footage have confirmed that the wild leopard causing havoc in the city is a male one instead of the previously assumed fe-male leopard. A previ-ous report had stated that the leopard had gone towards the Ganga

barrage but the spot-ting of the leopard in VSSD Degree College Nawabganj campus late on Saturday night caused panic.

The officials had in-stalled cameras on the college premises and the guest house located at Ganga Barrage and a cage was also installed to trap the leopard but the wild animal was still not caught which made the officers as-sume that shehad gone back to dense forests in

front of the barrage. All this changed

when the leopard was once again spotted on the VSSD campus which put the officials on their toes.

Since the leopard was not spotted for 2 contin-uous days on the college premises, the college and Pt Deendayal School were opened on Wednesday, but as the leopard was against spotted, it prompted au-thorities to close the campus once again.

Agra: The three Kash-miri students of an Agra engineering college, who were arrested on charges of sedition for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slo-gans following Paki-stan’s victory in a T20 World Cup match in Oc-tober, have approached the Allahabad High Court with a bail plea.

Arsheed Yusuf, In-ayat Altaf Sheikh and Showkat Ahmed Ganai were arrested on October 28.

“There are multiple grounds on the basis of which the students de-serve bail. We have also appealed that the juris-diction of the case be shifted to Mathura as well. We hope the court

will consider the given grounds,” said the coun-sel of the three students.

In the bail petition filed on Monday, the three have argued that they were denied the fun-damental rights after the lawyers in Agra refused to represent them.

“In view of the resolu-tion passed by the Agra Bar Association, none of the advocates are ready to handle the case of accused persons and provide them any type of assistance.

The apex court and high court, in their le-gal pronouncements, saved the personal liber-ty of such accused per-sons and held that no one can be deprived of its legal assistance,” said the petition.

PUNJAB POLITICAL SCENE IS RAPIDLY CHANGING AFTER AMARINDER EXIT

unjab’s politics did not appear as compli-cated as it does now. Earlier it was a state where three par-

ties—Congress, Shiromani Aka-li Dal and Aam Aadmi Party—fought for the spoils. Bahujan Samaj Party and the BJP were counted among the also rans.

For the 2022 Assembly elec-tions also the BJP was nowhere in the picture despite the state having a strong Hindu popula-tion. All that has changed ever since Captain Amarinder Singh left Congress to float his own party and join hands with the BJP. The Congress is witnessing a feud between Navjot Singh Sidhu and CM Charanjit Singh and is imploding. Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s (SAD) joining the BJP has improved the latter’s chances. It is expected that the Congress and SAD will both wit-ness defections to the BJP. That, as had happened with the TMC before the West Bengal elec-tions, may not mean a BJP gov-ernment in Punjab but it could prove damaging for the Con-gress in the state.

P

amata Banerjee sounded the death knell of the Con-gress and is be-lieved to be plot-

ting the dismantling of Unit-ed Progressive Alliance with Maharashtra strongman Sharad Pawar.

Goading Mamata on is Prashant Kishor, the politi-cal strategist, who has no love lost with the Gandhis after he was rebuffed by the party. After Kishor criticised Rahul Gandhi for being un-der the “illusion” that it is a matter of time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi los-es power, Mamata Banerjee hit out at the Congress say-ing it was not serious about politics. In her latest jibe she said at a press conference in

Mumbai that “you can’t be abroad most of the time”.

Congress has few friends in states. The Biju Janata Dal of Orissa, YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh and the TRS of Telangana are three strong regional outfits which gave up on Congress long ago.

Kerala, Tamil Nadu,

north-east, UP, the GOP is not in power. All that is need-ed to end the hold of one fam-ily on Opposition unity is a push from Sharad Pawar. Will he drive the proverbial last nail instead of support-ing the party?

The Opposition cannot for-get the Congress support it needed to install HD Deve Gowda as PM in 1996, or the fate of a ramshackle coali-tion government under VP Singh in 1989? Singh was suc-ceeded by Chandra Shekhar as PM in 1990, again with Congress support. Charan Singh also survived for a few months as PM in 1979.

The Opposition parties may be driven by a strong anti-Congress sentiment but they remain as fragmented as ever.

Old Cold War Rivalries Resurface in East Europe

t is estimated that 100,000 Russian forces may walk in anytime in Ukraine to allow the pro-Russian militants, who had seized a number of government buildings in the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine. In the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, the militants may finally secede from Kiev, but it goes to the credit of the Russians that though did not hide their sympathy and support for separatists, have so far re-frained from either recogniz-ing them or sending the Rus-sian forces to protect them.

The US President, Joe Biden, and Putin, Russian President, summit held in June in Geneva this year might have kicked off a peace process, but the opportunity was lost. They had focused on cyber penetration and other not-so-strong issues. The two leaders also failed to restore the much-needed trust among the two powers. They did not bury the past of the cold war era when the world always faced the threat of a nuclear holocaust.

The worsening situation on the Poland-Belarus border

is alarming, where thou-sands of migrants, mostly from the war-ravaged West Asia, are keen to enter Euro-pean Union countries through Poland and Lithua-nia. This humanitarian cri-sis too could have been avert-ed, if the two world leaders could shed off the past for the sake of humanity. These mi-grants had taken refuge in Belarus with the connivance of mafias having the bless-ings of the government.

The Indian concern is gen-uine. During the Soviet era as well as in later years, India-Eastern Europe has been blossoming. In 2005, India-Ukraine ties became much closer on the advice of the then Indian President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who had evinced a keen interest in strengthening cooperation with Ukraine in the field of space research. The Indo-Ukraine trade ties have in-creased manifold, which was just USD 3,214 million in 2006, the turnover between the two countries now ex-ceeds USD 3.1 billion. In the case of Poland too, India has already signed defence deals to augment the firepower of her artillery.

Much of the present woes of the region could have been averted if the USA and its al-lies in Europe had allowed Russians to have European identity during the immedi-ate years of the end of the

USSR. During the tenure of Mikhail Gorbachev, Russia was keen for setting up a mechanism for a “common European home” and a joint global leadership with the United States. However, it was foiled by Americans, and later, Russia’s first president, Boris Yeltsin, tried to fully integrate the country by join-ing NATO and forging a di-rect alliance with the United States. It was not acceptable to the European Union (EU) under Anglo-American influ-ence. With the decline of American influence in Eu-rope, a new cooperative era might be possible between the European Union and Rus-sia in the coming years.

It goes to the credit of Pu-tin though acquiring powers in 2014 from the Federal Council, the upper house of the Russian Parliament, to deploy forces or if need be to

send armies inside Ukraine he did not send troops. Dur-ing the past six years, Russia, though it reacquired Crimea, gifted to Ukraine during the reign of Nikita Khrushev in the USSR, did not accord any diplomatic recognition to the separatists. Donetsk and Lu-hansk held referendums in support of regional sover-eignty. The key cities of Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odessa, and Zaporizhia, however, re-mained under the central government’s control.

Meanwhile, the reports of the International Red Cross give graphic details of the worsening humanitarian cri-sis in the region. It is esti-mated that at least 6,000 peo-ple have so far been killed in the conflict in eastern Ukraine and half the popula-tion of the region, around two million people, have been displaced. During the fight-ing, civilians close to the front line were subjected to heavy rocket fire and artil-lery shelling. Hospitals, schools, water and electricity systems and other essential services were badly dam-aged.

Peace in the region re-mains elusive unless world powers agree to work out an all acceptable solution ac-ceptable solutions from West Asia to the Eurasian regions.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is in a major hurry to change the names of cities, stations, districts etc. Earlier the names of districts, cities, sta-tions or roads etc. were being changed only with Muslim names, but now preparations are being made to change the names of as-sociated with Hindu re-ligion as well. The rea-son for this is not un-

derstood. A news came recently that the BJP government is consid-ering a proposal to re-name Yamuna Express-way after Atal Bihari Vajpayee and although it is not known for what reason this proposal has been stopped but this proposal is beyond comprehension. After all, Yamuna is a holy river and connects Ut-tar Pradesh with Delhi.

However, there is also talk of a proposal to change the name of In-

dore city in Madhya Pradesh. It is being told that the BJP govern-

ment is trying to name it after Ahilyabai Holkar. Although it is also a fact

that Ahilyabai did not make Indore her capital, but she moved her capi-tal from Indore to Ma-heshwar. Prior to that the name of this city was Indrapuri, where Malharji Rao Holkar had made his capital. It was named after In-dreshwar Mahadev. Tu-kojirao Holkar I, who became the king after Ahilyabai Holkar, again made Indore his capital.

A few days ago, the Madhya Pradesh gov-ernment changed the

name of Habibganj rail-way station in Bhopal after Gond Rani Ka-malapati. Since then, questions are being raised on this move of the government. It is be-ing told that Gond queen Kamalapati had mar-ried a Muslim. The oth-er news is that the Gond tribals are also angry about their claim to be Hindu. They say that they have a different identity, culture and tradition.

BOREDOM IN ‘BABUDOM’

Defunct would be a euphemism; the civil servants

association in UP is virtually dead. And the dead stay dumb. Or what else could be the reason behind the association’s ennui which despite having recently elected senior IAS Alok Sinha as chief continues to portray IAS Deepak Trivedi as its chairman almost eight months after the latter’s death in April this year? Is it just an oversight or a deliberate short-shrift from the members to the association’s newly elected chairman? Barring this and a couple of other newspapers, the election of Sinha largely went unreported. Let alone, eliciting

any greetings, the official Twitter handle of the UP IAS association which has more than 12 k followers failed to even acknowledge the election. Apparently, once considered a prestigious assignment, the chairman’s post no longer wields any clout, not to say any charm even among its members. And the office-bearers of the state’s steel frame seem to be too busy doing the bidding of their political masters in poll-bound UP than to be bothered about such trivial issues. —M Tariq Khan

AFTER NAUSHAD ALI’S EXIT FROM BSP, FOUR DALIT LEADERS TAKE CHARGE

Just before the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the way

Muslim leaders of BSP are leaving the party, it is evident that somewhere BSP supremo Mayawati’s hold on Muslim leaders and voters is getting weaker. Mayawati has removed Bahujan Samaj Party Kanpur’s divisional sector in charge

Naushad. After this action of BSP supremo Mayawati, there has been a stir in the party and political corridors. Chief sector in-charge Naushad Ali has been removed from all the responsibilities of BSP’s Kanpur division and in his place, four people will see the responsibility of all the seats of the 27 assemblies. The removal of Naushad has resulted in talks of weakening of the Dalit Muslim alliance. When Naushad Ali was made the sector in charge of

Kanpur division, it was decided that in any case, the candidates for the 27 assembly seats of BSP would be announced at the earliest, but with the same not happening, Mayawati herself took the decision and relieved Naushad Ali from his responsibilities. At present, Naushad Ali has been entrusted with the responsibility of some districts of Purvanchal and in his place, other leaders of the organisation have been given this responsibility. After the removal of Naushad Ali, his responsibility has been given to four Dalit leaders of BSP, that are Bhimrao Ambedkar, Pravesh Kuril, Sangh Priya Gautam, Baudh Priya Gautam. All the four would together handle the responsibility of the organisation in the place of Naushad Ali till 2022. —Ahtesham Siddiqui

GOVT LEFT PEOPLE TO DIE DURING COVID LOCKDOWN: AKHILESH YADAVAkhilesh slams UP govt, alleging that it stopped migrants from entering the state during Covid lockdownLalitpur: Samajwadi Party president Akh-ilesh Yadav on Thurs-day attacked the UP government, alleging that it left people to die and stopped them from entering the state while they were walking back home during the coro-navirus lockdown. The pictures seen during the Covid pandemic “were not even seen during the Partition”, he alleged during a ral-ly at Ginaut Bagh of Lalitpur district.

“Who can forget the pictures when a lock-down was imposed and our labourer brothers had to come from other places,” Yadav said. “The BJP government put up barricades and did not allow them to enter the state,” he al-leged. “The government

left people like orphans to die. Labourer broth-ers put their lives at risk and had to walk hun-dreds of KMs to reach their home on foot,” the former CM added. Ya-

dav claimed had there been his party’s govern-ment, they would have arranged vehicles for them for their journey. “Had there been our government in the state,

not a single labourer would have been al-lowed to walk on foot. They would have been given a vehicle to reach their destination. The BJP government kept

the labourers in cow-shed in the name of iso-lation during the pan-demic,” he alleged. Ya-dav said people have understood the BJP af-ter its rule and the par-

ty’s “tricks” won’t work now. “Now, there will be a change in UP,” he said, apparently referring to the state Assembly elec-tions next year. Akhile-sh also targeted CM Yogi Adityanath, say-ing, “A yogi is the one who understands the pain of others as his own. You tell whether he considers the pain of others as his own.

These ‘chillumjivi’ cannot take the state forward.” Akhilesh said farmers are facing problems in procuring fertiliser. “The farmers will make a queue again to oust the BJP in elec-tions,” he said. Lucknow: The AICC general secretary Pri-yanka Gandhi today called upon the youth to dislodge casteist and communal forces in the 2022 assembly elections as they were the main stumbling block in the development and wel-fare of the state.

Addressing “Pratig-ya Rally” in Brass city of Moradabad, which is her “Sasural” Priyanka Gandhi said she had come to her “Sasural” after a long time but now onward she would keep in touch with the city which is close to her heart. She said Mo-radabad because of flourishing brass busi-ness has carved out a prominent place among centres of trade and ex-ports with Rs 8000 crore revenue but apathy and callous attitude of suc-cessive governments after the Congress re-gime, the city had lost all its relevance. She expressed concern over declining brass busi-ness in the city.

The Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel also addressed the rally. She recalled

that the grandfather of her husband Robert Vadra chose Moradabad after migrating from Pa-kistan after partition and then it was a promi-nent city of the state. Priyanka Gandhi said the time had come for change and the Con-gress was the only alter-

native to improve the situation in the state. Accusing the BJP gov-ernment, she said it had been an all-around fail-ure as there had been a massive increase in un-employment, inflation and economic drift. Pri-yanka Gandhi express-ing concern over the

plight of farmers who are still on dharna de-manded the dismissal of the union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra Teni whose SUV had mowed down four farmers in Lakhimpur Khiri on October 3. She said while other parties were also misleading the people, Congress had come out with “Pratigya” on various issues that would fulfil them if voted to power.

It may be mentioned that of the six Assembly seats in the Moradabad district, four are held by the Samajwadi Party and two by the BJP. The Muslim population in this constituency is around 40 per cent. 11.52 per cent of the popula-tion in the constituency belong to the Scheduled Castes category. The Mo-radabad Rural seat has 55 per cent Muslim vot-ers and 45 per cent, non-Muslim voters. Ansari voters are the majority among Muslim voters while Vaishya and Ra-jput voters are in the dominant role among non-Muslim voters. 9.56 per cent of the popula-tion in the constituency belong to the Scheduled Castes category.

Speaking to the media, he said the Congress will contest next year’s Uttar Pradesh assembly elec-tions on its own. “Our coalition is with farmers, the youth and the women,” he said.

Lucknow: BSP supre-mo Mayawati Thursday asked the people to be wary of “Hindu-Mus-lim politics” of the BJP, saying it is the “last tac-tic” of the party to ward of its impending defeat in the forthcoming UP assembly polls, She was reacting to the UP Dep-uty CM Keshav Prasad Maurya’s statement that preparations are on (for a temple) in Ma-thura as construction

of temples in Ayodhya and Kashi is underway.

“The statement given by UP Deputy CM Mau-rya ahead of the upcom-

ing assembly elections that temple construction is going on in Ayodhya and Kashi and now there are preparations for Ma-thura reinforces the gen-eral perception of BJP’s defeat. People should beware of this (Akhiri hatkande) last tactic that is Hindu-Muslim politics,” Maywati said in a tweet in Hindi.

“The construction of grand temples is on in Ayodhya and Kashi, and

preparations are on for one in Mathura (Ayod-hya Kashi bhavya man-dir nirmaan jaari hai Mathura kee tyaari hai),” Maurya said in a tweet on Wednesday he posted in Hindi. Lucknow: The Union Home Ministry has ap-pointed UP IPS officer Vijay Prakash, as In-spector General of the Central Industrial Se-curity Force (CISF) against existing vacan-cy on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of

assumption of the charge of the post.

In a letter to chief secretary, RK Tewari, the home ministry has requested to relieve Vi-jay Prakash, an IPS offi-cer of 1996 batch, to en-able him to take up his new assignments at the Centre.

Meanwhile, in a late night development on

Wednesday, the state government appointed Anil Bhushan Chaturve-di as Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Examination Regulatory Authori-ty. He is currently work-ing as Joint Director of Education in the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Lucknow.

It was only after the

transfer of Chaturvedi five months ago that Sanjay Upadhyay was made the secretary of the examination regula-tory authority. He was suspended by the gov-ernment on Tuesday it-self.

It is also a coincidence that Anil Bhushan was entrusted with the re-sponsibility under ad-

verse circumstances even after the suspen-sion of the then secre-tary Sutta Singh for changing the copy in the recruitment of 68 thou-sand, 500 teachers and there was a discrepancy in the evaluation. Now he has been given the responsibility again af-ter the paper leak.

At the same time,

Manoj Kumar Ahirwar has been made Regis-trar Departmental Ex-aminations in the Of-fice of the Examination Regulatory Authority.

He is presently the Deputy Principal of the District Institute of Ed-ucation and Training (DIET), Sitapur. Posting orders have been issued for both the posts.

TIE-UP WITH SMALL PARTIES SP’S MANTRA TO CORNER BJPParty chalks out strategy to marginalise Cong, BSP to win UP electionsGyanendra Kumar Shukla

Lucknow: The Akh-ilesh Yadav-led Sama-jwadi Party is toiling hard on multi-dimen-sional fronts to win the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Along with the alliance with small-er parties, the SP is also carrying out the strategy to marginalize the main players of the opposition camp, BSP and Congress, on the electoral landscape.

From western UP to Purvanchal and Bun-delkhand, the SP is ex-ecuting the mega plan to compete with the BJP. To strengthen its hold in the eastern re-gion, the SP has an al-liance with Om-prakash Rajbhar’s Suheldev Bhartiya Sa-maj Party, Keshav Dev Maurya’s Mahan Dal, Sanjay Chauhan’s Ja-nata Party (Socialist), Gondwana Gantantra Party and Apna Dal Kameravadi.

These small parties, which have a hold on

the sub-castes of OBC, are capable of influenc-ing the electoral equa-tions of many seats in Purvanchal. Through an alliance with the RLD led by Jayant Chaudhary, the SP wants to balance the Jat-Muslim-OBC equa-tion in western UP, which could present a tough challenge in this

stronghold of BJP. Political experts are

of the opinion that Akh-ilesh Yadav is trying to bring the anti-BJP par-ties on one platform. It is believed that Akhile-sh Yadav is in discus-sions to share some seats with TMC as well. AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s proximity to Akhilesh Yadav has been in the

spotlight of political circles. Even though AAP may not have a sig-nificant votebase in UP, Akhilesh, who is en-gaged in mobilizing OBC voters through so-cial engineering, wants to connect with the up-per-caste urban voters through a pact with AAP.

Looking at the 2017 election results, despite getting fewer seats, the BSP came second in many seats and the margin of victory be-tween the BJP and the SP was very small. This time, Akhilesh is pro-jecting his party as the main contender against the BJP. It is considered as the SP chief ’s deft move to prevent the op-position votes from shifting to the BSP or the Congress.

Akhilesh Yadav has also been trying to make inroads among the BSP’s Dalit vote bank, for this he is also exploring the possibili-ty of an alliance with Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar.

Bail granted to man who allegedly threatened to kill PM, Yogi Adityanath

First India Bureau

Prayagraj: The Alla-habad High Court re-cently granted bail to a man who allegedly threatened to assassi-nate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath.

Single judge Justice Pankaj Bhatia granted bail to Salman consid-ering the fact that the offences against him were bailable and he was languishing in jail since August 31, 2021.“Considering the fact that prima-facie from the FIR in ques-tion, an offence can be said to be made out against the applicant under Sections 506 & 507 IPC, both of them

being bailable in na-ture, coupled with the fact that the applicant is in jail since August 31 and there is nothing on record to demon-strate that the appli-cant, if enlarged on bail, would adversely affect the trial, the ap-plicant is entitled to be enlarged on bail. In view thereof, the appli-cation is allowed,” the Court said.

As per the FIR, a call was received on UP Po-lice emergency servic-es No.112 from appli-cant’s mobile phone threatening to kill the PM and the CM in view of their public state-ments. The caller alleg-edly stated that he would assassinate them and go to jail.

Bareilly: Bhartiya Ja-nata Party (BJP) MP on Thursday raised ques-tions on his own party’s failure to provide suffi-cient government jobs to youths saying for how long youth of India would show patience.

In a tweet, Varun Gan-dhi said, “First, there is no government job, yet if some chance comes, the paper gets leaked, if you

give the exam, you don’t have the result for years, then the exams get can-celled in some scam. About 1.25 crore youth of Railway Group D are waiting for the results for two years. The same is true of recruitment in the army. For how long the youth of India would show patience?”

This tweet came after his recent tweet in which he had demanded action against ‘political patrons

of the education mafia’ soon after the UPTET pa-per leak incident.

“The avenues of em-ployment for the average young person in rural India are largely restrict-ed to seeking a govern-ment job. With the gov-ernment employing less than before in every sec-tor be it defence, police, railways, education, a sense of frustration is seeping into the youth,” said Gandhi.

He added that 17 pa-pers have been cancelled just in Uttar Pradesh in the last two years as the exam papers have been leaked with no large syndicate being identi-fied till date.

“There is no system where they are linked to private employment. Therefore public em-ployment guidelines and employment schedules must be adhered to,” said Gandhi.

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court bench, hearing the case of rape and death of a Navodaya Vidyalaya student in Mainpuri, has questioned the role of the school principal and police in the entire case. The court questioned the SIT for not taking any concrete action even after the presence of evidence in the case. It noted that the principal handed over some letters of the student to the SIT after 2 years and yet the evidence was suppressed for so long when the police were in the meantime interrogating the family of the girl on the basis of these letters. The cout hearing the petition of Mahendra Pratap Singh, observed that the photograph fi led at the time of panchnama showed injury marks on the hand of the victim, but the post-mortem report did not have any mention of these injuries.

Lucknow: As the as-sembly elections in UP are approaching, the BJP is busy preparing its political war cry to further strengthen the electoral ground. At the same time opposi-tion parties have be-gun saying that the BJP has got an idea of what the result of the assembly elections to be held next year which is why it is plan-ning to use the same old ideas just like using Hindutva to its advan-tage in the elections.

Speculations of BJP’s Hindutva issue are getting stronger in political circles as the recent tweet of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Mau-rya’s on Wednesday said “Grand temple construction under-way in Ayodhya and Kashi, Mathura in preparation” which has not only shown that it’s not just Deputy CM Keshav Maurya but also many of the BJP MPs have started mentioning on their

agent after Ayodhya and Varanasi.

BJP MP Harnath Singh, Sadhvi Niran-jan Jyoti and Baba Bal-ak Nath have openly forwarded Maurya’s Mathura statement

and these three MPs have clearly stated that a grand temple will be constructed in Mathu-ra just like the one be-ing built in Ayodhya.

Minister of State, Labour and Employ-

ment, Raghuraj Singh also gave similar statement last week. Raghuraj Singh had said that if God gave him a chance, he would shut down ma-drasas across the country as madrasas have become bases for training terrorists.

The minister, who presented figures to support his claim, said that at one point of time there were just 250 madrasas in Uttar Pradesh but now the number stands at 22,000. He further lev-elled allegations that madrassas are where terror is taught and will only help emer-gence of terrorists.

NO NEW MANTRA WILL HELP BJP IN POLLS: YADAVLucknow: The parties in Uttar Pradesh have been constantly attacking each other as the assembly elections in the state are set to take place next year. Reacting on Maurya’s tweet SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that BJP’s agenda is to loot the poor and fi ll the pockets of the rich and no Rath Yatra or new mantra will help BJP in the upcoming elections. Reacting to the statements of Akilesh Yadav, Maurya said that while Akhilesh describes himself as a devotee of Lord Krishna, Lord Ram, Shiva and Ganga, it’s he who should tell whether a temple of Lord Krishna should be built in Mathura or not?.

nce again, for the 30th time, a UN Sponsored “in-ternational Day of Disabled Per-sons” is spot-lighted as a ritual

for public consumption. Each year a new theme is concocted for pseudo-in-tellectual satisfaction. As-tounding statistics such as “15% of the world pop-ulation is affected by some form of disability” are bandied without action.

Sadly, this most press-ing of problems in society is forgotten the next morning for another wasteful year.

It is heartbreaking to see such callousness in the premier institution of the world, the UN.

Now let’s zoom in to the micro-level. First and foremost we have to stop and understand the pain and helplessness of par-ents of children affected by ‘disability’. If God is the perfect originator of the Universe, then we can safely assume that he has not created anything in imperfection.

Given this to be the Uni-versal truth, I go on to narrate my experiences.

Having spent long years working in the forefront with children in their

fight to overcome the chal-lenges to their minds and bodies, I can vouch for that perfection.

I got the opportunity to peep into the hearts & minds of my wards.

One child, in his teens, does have difficulty in making eye to eye contact

with others and is de-void of all social norms, but give him any date and year, in a flash, he will give the Day of the

week for that date. Give

him a date before his birth year, he can still manage to calculate but takes a few seconds extra. Defi-nitely, this cannot be in-terpreted as an abnormal-ity and left at that. This is a Compass pointing to the reach & unexplored fron-tiers of the human mind. He is capable of doing something that involves an IQ level rarely seen in humans. Presumably, a glance at a calendar or a

diary made him extrapo-late with his unique men-tal power. Just imagine the tremendous intensity of his focus. If further channelized, via proper training and dedicated teachers, such minds can break many a glass ceiling of our thought structure.

But horrifyingly, the very dark, cruel & be-nighted souls treat such people as a stigma. These minds, perhaps pushed

hard towards these fron-tiers of mental capacity by some unknown natural phenomenon, do appear complex to the average hu-man.

Spirited human minds need such a compass to lead them towards those frontiers. Instinctively, and with relentless dog-gedness, they will then pursue those goals.

Our education policy has to break these barri-ers in society at large and academia in particular. These gifted children will have to be accepted in mainstream schools with trained teachers, sensitiv-ity, and the right attitude towards them to create an atmosphere equal to other children. For example, de-spite the Right to Educa-tion Act, we at DISHA have the only center for learning disability, when dozens more are needed just in Rajasthan.

In every human being resides a Compass of dis-covery, provided we put our bigoted prejudices aside and erase the dis-tinctions between the so-called Able and the conde-scendingly termed differ-ently-abled. Peep into any soul, there is a treasure! The core issue is how we perceive such a phenome-non and go on to chan-nelize it. Just as Albert Einstein overcame learn-ing/speaking disability, the likes of George Wash-ington, Abhishek Bach-chan, and Tom Cruise con-quered dyslexia, even as Deepika Padukone and Catherine Zeta-Jones fought off depression and bipolar disorder. Such ex-amples, from hundreds of thousands, are not only to enthuse but to speak of the possibilities for these Compasses to the fron-tiers of the human mind!

IT’S THE SEASON OF COLD BREEZE, CAKES & SANTA BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, GIFTS! WHO DOESN’T ADORE GIFTS? CITY FIRST BRINGS TO YOU THE PERFECT GIFT WRAPPING

IDEAS TO SURPRISE YOUR LOVED ONES THIS SEASON!

Wrapped in Wrapped in LOVELOVE

SOCKSThis one is the kids’ favourite kind. If you know someone whose idea of glad tidings is huge red socks hanging around their walls, this would be an add up as an ad-ditional gift for them. They might

stock up the socks with candies and little tiny gifts and fi nd it useful during the season.

CHRISTMAS BELLSChristmas Bells are defi nitely a go to thing when you’re decorat-ing a Christmas tree but who would have known that it would suit perfectly to the gifts that you have kept ready for your special one. It might add up a little fl air to your Instagram post as well. Adding another suggestion, keep all your gifts in a box and tada, you’re good to go.

WRAPPING PAPERSI am usually not fond of wrapping, but whenever I wrap gifts, I make sure that my wrapping papers are plain so that the ribbons and the extra accessory add to its beauty. Too much of colour in one wrapping paper might look disarming which isn’t bad at all if you like them. But, my suggestion would be to go for one colour and pick the best ribbon and add an extra item such as a small Christmas tree or a feather, let’s be creative.

RIBBONSWe are all fond of gifts that are wrapped around in ribbons, right? You can surprise someone who enjoys a decorative item every once in a while. For this season as you’re wrap-ping your gifts, don’t forget to add a little effect by picking up the perfect ribbon. You may select a regular coloured ribbon or a cloth ribbon that might spruce up the gift.

SUSHMITA [email protected]

once knew a girl who always longed for gifts, especially when Ru-dolph the reindeer was on his way. With the beginning of Christ-mas all she could think

of was how Santa was going to secretly hide a gift under the Christmas tree and what joy this gift would bring to her. No matter the size of the gift, just the idea of something unex-pected bing brought to her be-came her reason for joy. Well, that little girl was of course me. Over the past couple of years, I have met people who have followed the tradition of playing “Secret Santa” where someone would bring them a surprise. Not to mention, I have also come across people who think that the idea of gifts is just too cliche. And yet, they couldn’t disagree but accept that gifts always brought them happiness. This is the season for you to be merry and wrap your gift in the best way pos-sible to make someone’s day. City First brings to you some suggestions that you might in-corporate while you are wrap-ping happiness!

TWINKLING STARSFor the season of Christ-mas, stars were symbolic of leading the way towards the shelter (stable) where Jesus Christ was born. This star can help you add a little Christmas vibe to your gift. Twinkling stars are always a sight to the eyes, their presence have a positivity. Don’t believe me? Checkout Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night and you shall know what I mean.

PERSONALISED PHOTOGRAPHSIf you don’t want to mention their names or yours on the tag of the gift, you might just experiment a little by putting a picture of your-selves or the person that you’re presenting the gift to. It might appear a little odd but trust me, seeing a face on a gift instantly brings a smile on face. So unique and innovative, this gift packing idea is certain to make your loved ones feel extra special.
