New India rises at the World Stage with Global Entrepreneurship Summit
FOCUSHosted in South Asia for the very first time, the Global Entrepreneurship Summit concluded in the start-up city of Hyderabad on a promising and grand note. Not only was the summit a testimony to the rising stature of India globally but also is an extraordinary step in bringing together the global entrepreneurs community to “Make in India”! The Summit is yet another remarkable outcome of the new vigour infused by PM Narendra Modi in foreign ties.
With the theme of “Women First, Prosperity for All”, the Summit was an opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking; especially for the women entrepreneurs who outnumbered their male counterparts.

Our Start-Up India programme is a comprehensive action plan to foster entrepreneurship and promote innovation. We have launched the MUDRA scheme to provide easy finance of upto one million rupees to entrepreneurs. Since 2015, over 90 million loans worth Rs. 4.28 trillion sanctioned. We are opening Tinkering Labs in more than 900 schools to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among children. To my young entrepreneur friends, you are vehicles of change and instruments of India’s transformation.
WHAT IVANKA TRUMP SAID?
The transformational change brought about by Narendra Modi and his rise from a humble background to the Prime Minister of India is exemplary.
This is the first time that women make up the majority of the 1,500 entrepreneurs selected to attend the event.
From doctors, scientists to engineers and architects, Indiansare ahead be it discovering life-saving technologies and building modern wonders, to reaching the Moon and Mars.

UMANG: Bringing Government services under one app
TOP STORIESWHAT THE PRIME MINISTER SAID?
We are using the digital domain to facilitate participative governance, or Jan Bhagidari. When we assumed office in May 2014, many people, particularly youngsters expressed a keen desire to share their ideas and work for the nation. It is our firm belief that there are millions of Indians, whose transformative ideas can go a long way in taking India to new heights.
Therefore, we launched the citizen engage-ment portal, MyGov. This platform enables citizens to share their thoughts and ideas on important issues. In many key policy areas, we received thousands of valuable suggestions.
“”
At the event, the Prime Minister felicitated winners of the Global Cyber Challenge called Peace-a-thon which was held on MyGov. Hundreds of teams from the country India as well as other countries participated in the challenge to showcase their skills.

INDIAN RAILWAYS
In efforts to improve energy efficiency in Indian Railways, proactive and innovative steps were taken by the Government. Reducing the cost of its electric traction energy bills, Indian Railways achieved a cumulative savings of over Rs 5000 crore in nearly 2 years by procuring power directly under Open Access arrangements.
Shubhangi Swaroop, from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh created history by becoming the Navy’s first woman pilot. The milestone was praised by the Government as representative of the quantum leaps in women's rights the country is making.
While Shubhangi will soon be flying Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft, the Navy also got three other women cadets who are the country’s first women officers at the Naval Armament Inspectorate (NAI).
