Dr. Rita Kalra welcomed the chief guest Dr. Col. P.K. Vasudeva, Army Veteran, Columnist and a Defence Analyst, who was accompanied by his gracious wife Lt. Col. Dr. Uma Vasudeva. He was Senior Executive in TATA Exports, Member of State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, UT Chandigarh, Founder Director of AIMT (KU), Past President of Chandigarh Management Association (CMA), Principal-Director of College of Communication and Management, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Consultant Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Studies and Senior Professor of Icfai Business School, Chandigarh. He has supervised more than 15 Research Scholars for Ph.D degrees. He has been conferred with awards like Punjab Rattan, COAS Commendation, Bharat Jyoti Award and Gem of India Award. Dr. Col. Vasudeva congratulated President Dr. Rita for the projects taken up by our club in Chandigarh tricity and complimented Rotarians for the work being done in India and in other countries. Speaking about India China Bhutan Standoff, he displayed 3 maps to explain the standoff. China attempted to extend a road in Doklam. Bhutan had formally objected to this, and hopes to get it Dr. Col. In addition to this China is also having a severe social and labour unrest, and may soon get disintegrated into 7 different regions. Other positive sign for India, as pointed by Col. Vasudeva, is the way External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj has handled the standoff issue. Another very important factor is the strong support from Japan in favour of India, to protect Bhutan. Another very interesting fact which would discourage any big conflict is the 120 billion dollar trade between India and China. While India will suffer great losses if trade stops, China will lose a very big market. Dr. Col. Vasudeva concluded his talk on a very positive note. He said, “Our missiles, Agni and others will save us as these are the best in the world and most effective. Statue with an artificial arm

A statue in Sector 44-B Corner Park in Chandigarh,

had a broken right arm for the last 2-3 years, and was

kept covered with a cloth, as the concerned authorities

could not get it repaired. The President of Sector 44-

B, Chandigarh Residents Welfare Association, a

retired senior press photographer Mr. Swadesh

Talwar requested PP Dr. V.J.S. Vohra for an artificial

arm which was prepared in his Nevedac Prosthetic

Centre, and fitted to this statue within 2 days. In our

meeting on 18th August, President Dr. Rita Kalra was

pleased to announce that during Independence Day

celebrations on 15th August 2017 President RWA

thanked Dr. Vohra in a large gathering of residents of

Sector 44, and was also appreciated by the chief guest

of the event, Ms Ravinder Kaur Gujral, Councilor of

Municipal Corporation Chandigarh.
