Secretary-General, with the assistance ofthe specialized agencies, to draw up an inter­national policy aimed at promoting and ac­celerating technical and vocational trainingof women in developing countries; expressingappreciation for the efforts of UNESCO inthese fields and for its proposal that a com­parative study of co-education be submittedto, the Commission on the Status of Womenat its 22nd session; inviting organizationswithin the United Nations system to intensifytheir co-operation on these subjects; invitingUNESCO to continue its research within thecontext of educational planning and to ensurethat the assistance programmes for literacytraining provide women with the basis fora vocational education in addition to funda­mental education; suggesting that MemberStates which are drawing up education plansshould: take all necessary measures to ensureto girls and women access to technical andvocational training; reserve a place for thenotions of an adequate general education forchildren of both sexes in the elementary andintermediate level educational plans, providediversification in the technical and vocationalcurricula; and accord special attention to theinformation to be provided concerning em­ployment possibilities for persons enteringtechnical or vocational training institutions;and study measures to ensure that women inrural areas have equal opportunity as menof undertaking technical studies, adoptedunanimously as resolution 1327 (XLIV)
