4-H Day at Capitol

Frederick County 4-Her's enjoyed visiting the Virginia State Capitol on Tuesday, January 24th! They had the opportunity to visit with Delegate Collins, toured the Capitol building, Governors Mansion, and viewed a live session of the State Senate.

One Day Registration April 6, 2017 The registration day for 4-H Summer Camp has been set for April 6th in the Board of Supervisors room from 5:30-8:00pm. Please have all forms and payments ready prior to coming to registration. Camp registration forms can still be mailed in but will be processed at the end of the one day registration . “SHARE-THE-FUN”

Registration forms for Share-The-Fun are due in the Frederick County Extension office or post-marked no later than February 24th. Late entries WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! This is a tremendous op-portunity to perform on stage in either group act or solo. We do hope you will choose to participate. The registration forms are located in the back of the newsletter.

REMINDER: CONTESTANTS IN ANY COMPETITIVE EVENT MUST BE ENROLLED BY JANUARY 1ST! SHARE-THE-FUN PROGRAM: The contest will be held on March 3rd at James Wood Middle School in the auditorium. Each act will have an opportunity to practice one time prior to the show. The practice dates are: March 1th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and March 2nd from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Please call the Extension Office for a 15 minute time slot. When you come to the practice, please enter the doors on the left hand side of the building. There will be a clover sign to direct you. CATEGORIES: Vocal – Singing which may include dance or instrument but judged solely on vocal performance. Instrumental – Totally an instrumental presentation. Sing or dance, if desired, but will be judged on the instrumental performance (Piano Player, Jazz Band, Flute Player, Banjo and Guitar, and other combinations of up to 4 participants). Drama – Play or scene from a Play, Monologue, Mime, Reading a Poem, Short Humorous Skit. Variety – Magic Act, Puppetry, Ventriloquism, Juggling, Tumbling/Gymnastics, Stand-up Comics, Impressionists, Baton Twirling, Puppet Act, Karate Routine, Lip Syncing. Combination - Any combination of vocal, instrument, or dance. Age Divisions: Juniors (9-11) (As of September 30, 2017) Intermediate (12-13) (As of September 30, 2017) Seniors (14-19) (As of September 30, 2017) *Senior Acts are composed of Senior Members ONLY!!!

Junior and Intermediate age youth may participate in the same act, but must compete in the Intermediate Age Division.

RULES:

-Maximum time per act is 4 minutes. -The maximum number of participants in a competitive act is 4. -As of November 1st, 2004, Frederick County 4-H Leaders Association and County Council passed

a new rule, which reads: “The contestant can participate once in an individual act and a second time in a group act or duet in another category.”

-Share-The-Fun Contestants must be enrolled in 4-H by January 1st. -Entries must be in the Extension Office by February 24th or postmarked no later than February

24th . (Late entries WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!) -The Danish System of judging will be used. A blue or red ribbon will be awarded to each partici-

pant. Judges decisions are final. Non-Competitive Acts will also abide by the January 1st enrollment rule.
