Excess of Plastic

PROBLEM

There is an excess of plast ic . The

2005 f loods in Mumbai were caused by

the plast ic choking the drains. 35 kg’s

of plast ic was found in the stomach of

a dead cow in Uttar Pradesh. Is th is

why plast ic is produced? Shouldn’t we

th ink twice before using a plast ic

bag?

I don’t mind spending two rupees extra

We thought if it could be possible to reduce the production of plastics or charge some amount for the use of plastic.

After thinking practically we thought it would be senseless to charge 1 or 2 Rs. on a 1000 Re. bill, nobody would mind

to do so. We then decided to tie up with a ‘Aditya Birla Group of Companies’ through the shop ‘MORE- Hamesha

Extra’ shop in Raheja Vihar- Powai. We then went with the idea of the ‘reducing the production of plastic bags’.

Different Ideas thought by us

We tried the same with ‘Haiko’, a shop in Hiranandani, but did not get as much of support. We all were so happy that

the people of ‘More’ really interested in doing the project with us. The manager

Mr. Kinshuk Mishra was very helpful and got the poster made for us. On the

other hand ‘Haiko’ was completely uncooperative and didn’t help us at all

in anyway. Nevertheless we were happy doing such work!

We thank our principal for the opportunity and the support

provided to us.

We finally would like to thank the ‘DESIGN FOR CHANGE’ group for

providing this opportunity.
