Context

OWho: Parents and educators of children from birth through elementary aged

OInstructional Context: Highlighting and informing adults on the benefits of putting an emphasis on literacy in the home environment to increase literacy

Context cont…O Scope/Sequence: Following the story

of a young boy struggling and his mothers discovery of statistics and benefits of literacy outside of school. When his mother takes action and collaborates with the school, the boy improves socially, emotionally and academically. Ending the video with suggestions and ways to incorporate literacy in the family structure.

Multimedia PrinciplesO Modality Principle– minimal text – mostly

narration and animation. Text used to highlight important words/information

O Temporal Contiguity Principle and Multimedia Principle – Important words (both verbal and print) are used in conjunction with visuals

O Voice Principle – Narrators voice is a human voice as opposed to a computer

O Signaling Principle – Change in background music to appeal to feelings

Many parents, just like joeys, were never made aware of the benefits of reading at home

(move it make it)Many parents, believe it is solely the schools responsibility but, as you can see it takes a collaboration between school and home to instill the importance of literacy and education.
