Mineral & Allied PowerGen

PoC Grant – USD $ 47,050 To conduct a survey to determine their suitability for solar micro-grids in Kenya; to test out the various designs for the PowerBox structures and installed two solar micro-grid systems. Impact: Installed over 20 m i c r o - g r i d s a f t e r P O C f inancing; secured $1 .5 million as a repayable grant from AECF; and hired over 39 employees and currently expanding into the Tanzania market.

Human Needs Project

PoC Grant – USD $50,000 To test the commercial viability of a water business model and payment systems. Impact: HNP sells water at price of KES 2.00 and 5.00 per 20 litre jerry can to bulk water vendors and households respectively. The average sales a day is 50,000m3 litres of water and so far HNP has sold clean water to over 5,240 customers.

PoC Grant – USD $ 39,768 To conduct and operatize 2 hydroponics demo farms. Impact: Installed 285 systems in Kenya, 4 in Uganda and 1 in Tanzania, hired 8 additional employees SEED Fund – USD $ 620,000 and USD 350,000 from USAID and KCV respectively Plans to diversify their products and improve market upscaling.
