OVERVIEW: Injured claimants sometimes present to an independent evaluator in a pain-focussed, exaggerated and a self-limiting manner. Sometimes the testing results are inconsistent. What does this all mean? Are these claimants malingering, having trouble coping with their pain, presenting with fear avoidance behaviour…? Let’s review all the differentials. Are you using valid assessment tools and the most evidence-based approach in performing your independent medical examination (IME)? Come and learn more. OBJECTIVES:

Review Waddell’s Tests and their Interpretation Review Non-Organic Signs of the Neck Review Inconsistencies in the Physical Examination Review Inconsistencies in the Functional Examination Review Validity testing in Neuropsychological testing Analyze the difference between Malingering, Conversion Disorder, Factitious Disorder, Somatization, Chronic

Pain Disorder, etc.

Review different patient questionnaires in assessing chronic pain Evaluate the subtle differences in evaluating a patient with Dementia vs. Mild TBI Review an evidence-based approach to assess mild TBI Learn how to interpret inconsistencies in an IME in an objective manner
