This allows the audience to think up potential links between the two. On top of this theyll also begin to question who the girl is and what importance she holds. Finally, the cut from the mans miserable face to the children playing also brings out the contrast between their enjoyment and his misery.

They havent shown any real signs of genuine threat and so the audience is more likely to feel comfortable around these men.
