• the main Croatian seaport, with about 150,000 inhabitants
• a multicultural city with a rich cultural and historical heritage
• host to the traditional Rijeka Carnival, 3rd biggest in the world
• Rijeka is named the European Capital of Culture 2020

PAR University college• PAR is an acronym of the Croatian name Business Academy Rijeka
• first and only private higher education in the city of Rijeka and greater region
• The PAR tradition began in 2007 when the Business Academy was representative of international educational institutions and programs
• PAR strongly supports the startup culture, life-long learning, and entrepreneurship.
• THE OVERALL GOAL OF THE PROGRAM to develop newprojects that will contribute to the overall carnival program inRijeka, and include the cultural component, as well as theproject/business one
• The projects may be:• Events• Businesses (ventures, enterprises, etc.)• NGOs• Project proposals• Educational / Cultural programs
• Students will be divided in teams, and each team will beassigned some preliminary criteria for project development

• the first sign of the carnival traditions as such in Rijeka date back to the 1449
• the first ever carnival parade in Rijeka, was held in 1982
• hat event has grown powered by the strong tradition of the Rijeka, and its surrounding areas and is known today as the „fifth season“ meaning a time of joy, cheer, fun and dance.
• 1995 Rijeka has been admitted into the FECC (Federation European Carnival Cities)
THE RIJEKA CARNIVAL
• listed as one of 500 events to be seen in Europe
• One of the most egzotic events ( by Sunday Times)
• entered the book 501 must be there events
• Rijeka Tourist Board won the „Golden Tourist Heart“ prize as the organizer of the best manifestation in South – Eastern Europe
• The carnival officially begins on January 17th and lasts until the Ash Wednesday
• Ash Wednesday is the begining of the Fortieth - a solemn religious observance in the liturgical calendar of many Christian denominations that begins on Ash Wednesday and covers a period of approximately six weeks before Easter Sunday.

• The Rotary Club, Maritime and History Museum of the Croatian Littoral Rijeka, Rijeka Toursit Board and the City of Rijeka
• All income from the ticket sale goes to charity• Attended by politicans, diplomates and celebrities
