    Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,

Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

    School Supply Drive—Last

    Day—TODAY SEPTEMBER 1.

Drop off School Supplies in the

    Baptismal Room today and help

needy kids raise high hopes for to-

    morrow! All supplies collected will

be distributed to needy children by

    Catholic Charites of Brooklyn and

    Queens. Sponsored by the Social

    Justice Ministry.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND OFFICE HOURS. The Par-

ish Office will be closed Mon (Sep 2). Regu-

lar office hours will resume Tues, Sep 3.

Please remember to call ahead for an appoint-

ment with a priest or deacon.

Back to School Blessing. A Blessing of Students and

school supplies will take place next Sunday, September 8 at

the 10:30 Mass. All our parish children are invited to bring

their knapsacks and new school supplies as we

ask God’s Blessing for all our youngsters at

the beginning of a new academic year.

  • BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH!

    FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

I am one of those people who both love and hate roller coasters. They are thrilling and exciting and remind me

that my heart is beating and my blood is pumping but they also scare the devil out of me: thinking about the ride while

waiting on line, seeing other people’s faces, the screams. But the moment that brings my excitement and apprehension

together is that moment at the top before you start down – there’s just time for a deep breath.

For me that’s what Labor Day Weekend is each year: that deep breath before the parish year begins. People

will be returning for work and school. Parish life will resume in full vigor. The message of Jesus will echo in our

corridors and church. It’s exciting but it is also a little daunting to think that what we do here in Hollis and Queens

Village is part of God’s Plan of Salvation. That is our greatest work as Christians as we pause this Labor Day. It’s not

the exclusive work of a pastor or parent, sister or deacon. It’s the task of every Christian to make better known the

    Christ.

Before the roller coaster of a new parish year begins, I ask you to think how you are going to help in this great

task of Evangelization here at Incarnation. What time or talent are you willing to let Jesus use as He continues the work

of His Father? Have you been sitting on the sidelines too long and now is the time to join? I hope so and I am counting

    on it!

We always talk about how fast time flies. Yes, it seems to go quicker and quicker each year. But time is a

series of moments and decisions. For you and me we always have the opportunity to choose for God and our sister and

brothers. May this coming year be a series of grace-filled opportunities to express our love and service of Him whose

power moves the earth and stars and may we all contribute to his work as we experience the wonderful roller coaster

    ride that is life!

    Get in and let’s gooooooooooooooooooo!

    God Bless!

THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL: FAITH AN GOOD WORKS! Please join us in our support of the various ministries and outreaches of the diocese which cannot be undertaken alone here

at Incarnation. Use the form below and simply put it in an envelope marked “Catholic Appeal,” drop the gift in the collec-

tion and the parish will send it to the Appeal Office. Envelopes are also by the doors of the church today. You may mail

your pledge directly to 310 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215. Our Parish Goal is 500 pledges. Please be one of

them. Give a gift today. All monies collected over goal will stay here at the parish and will go to help pay off the school

roof project. Even a small or one tine gift is both needed and most appreciated.

    Wednesday, September 18th. The Adult

    English choir rehearses each Wednesday

from 7:30 to 9:00pm. The Angelic Voices

children's choir rehearses from 5:30 to

6:30pm each Wednesday. Both choirs re-

hearse up in the choir loft; returning and new members

alike are encouraged to join us. Christmas will be here be-

fore you know it! Please help us by your presence to pre-

pare music for Christmas and throughout the year.

    WHITE WELCOME ENVELOPES are lo-

cated in the church for those who are new in the

parish, for those who would like to receive

weekly envelopes and for those who may have

forgotten their envelope today. Thank you for all

your support for as parish as we try to meet our weekly

    needs.

MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY. Those who are inter-

ested in the Ministry of Hospitality to welcome visitors and

parishioners to our doors at Sunday Mass are asked to con-

tact Father O’Connor for more information. This ministry

is a result of the Parish Assembly and parishioners’ desire

to make Incarnation a more welcoming place.

NEW PARISH PROCESSIONAL CROSS. You may

have noticed the new addition at

Sunday Mass of a new Proces-

    sional Cross which Fr. Chris

chose and the servers now carry

to lead the liturgical ministers at

    the beginning and ending of

Mass. If anyone would like to

    memorialize this beautiful wood-

    carved Crucifix which is more

    prominent and easier to see

    please contact Father O’Connor

    at the rectory: 718-465-8534.

    A WARM WELCOME. If you

are new to our parish please feel

free to introduce yourself to the pas-

tor or one of the deacons after Mass

today. We kindly invite you to

come to the Parish Office and register as a member of In-

carnation. Registration is important for all parishioners

because then we are able to issue sponsor letters for Bap-

tism, Confirmation and Matrimony. We also can give end

of the year statements of your contributions to the church

through regular use of the envelopes. We can also help you

with letters of recommendation for employment, schools,

etc. Your registration will also help us with our parish cen-

sus in knowing the number of Catholics in the

Hollis/Queens Village area. Thank you and welcome.
