Inbetweeners 2

The Inbetweeners 2 is a 2014 British comedy film and sequel to The Inbetweeners Movie, which is based on the E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners. It was written and directed by series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris. It stars James Buckley (Jay), Joe Thomas (Simon), Blake Harrison (Neil) and Simon bird (Will). The film was released on the 6th of August 2014 and has a running time of 96 minutes. Film4 was the production company for the film. The film had a very small budget of £3.5 million and has a £38 million box office.

The film is a sequel of the first movie and the first was generated from the E4 British sitcom ‘the inbetweeners’. It lasted for 3 series and 18 episodes. If people had watched and like the sitcom then it means they are more than likely to want to go and watch the film.

Purpose - The purpose of this film poster is to let people know about the film and that it will be coming out sometime in the near future. It has very little information as it does not want to give away too much before people go to the cinema to watch it.

Website – A website link is given in the institutional information. This lets people know there is somewhere to go if they want to find out a bit more information about the film which isn’t on the poster.

Colour – The posters main colour is blue as the background is of the sky and the title is also in blue font. Blue has connotations of loyalty, wisdom and also tranquility. Having seen the movie it is obvious that it is the complete opposite to tranquility so the poster could be giving off the calm before the storm kind of idea which relates to the setting of a beach as they’re usually seen as really relaxing and calming places to go. As we can see all characters are dressed in casual/normal clothes whereas Jay sticks right out wearing a bright red England football shirt. Red has connotations of Danger, energy and war. This also relates to the calm before the storm idea as everything is a calm and relaxing colour and there is a calm setting but Jay is completely against this all by wearing bright red, meaning that he is the ‘storm’.

Release date – As you can see there is no release date or any kind of hint of release. This means the poster must have been released quite a few months before release of the film. By not including a release date it makes the audience talk more and generate ideas and questions about the movie and an overall anticipation which will lead to them wanting to go and watch it when it comes out.

Image – The image is of the four main characters walking across what looks to be a deserted beach. The all have similar facial expressions which are the look of frustration and confusion. This could generate ideas that maybe there is some point in the movie where they are deserted and don’t know what to do. The beach and sunny whether obviously lets the audience know that the film is set in a sunny country. But overall the image doesn’t give away too much about the movie.

Title – The title ‘the inbetweeners 2’ is one of the biggest things on the page. This is so it is one of the first things the audience see’s when they look at it as it is informing them of a new movie and the ‘2’ is in even larger font to show that it is the sequel to the first film which will excite those who have seen and like the first one.

Taglines – There are two taglines. ‘four reasons to get out of Australia is the first and is above the heads of the four main actors so is obviously implying that comment towards them meaning that they may be about to cause some trouble or something and secondly ‘Soz, Oz’ which is just linking to the first.
