In Touch _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________3rd and 4th October 2020 Twenty Seventh Sunday in OT (Year A) No: 1230 Dear Parishioners
You will have noticed last weekend that we have begun to engage with the NHS Test and Trace
initiative. We have been asked to do this at every occasion in the parish by the Bishops, and I
hope that you will be able to take part without any problem. The system, of course, is
voluntary, but very obviously it helps the NHS to keep us all safe, so I hope that we can all
take part. My apologies for the surprise it may have caused last weekend by finding it without
any warning, but the instruction was just received last Friday.
The simplest way to use Test and Trace is with the NHS app on a smart phone. There are
posters by the doors of the church. (If you need help to download this, please consult the
parish website - https://www.worthabbeyparish.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/NHS-
Test-and-Trace-App-and-Service.pdf
And https://www.worthabbeyparish.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/How-to-Check-in-to-
a-Venue-using-a-QR-Code.pdf
You will also find here reassurance about how your privacy is protected.)
If you cannot use the app for any reason, please bring a pen so that you can fill in a paper form.
These forms will be kept securely, and then destroyed after 21 days, according to the
government’s instructions.
May I ask you all kindly to cooperate with the stewards, to whom we all owe a big debt of
gratitude, by arriving for mass in good time in order to avoid queues forming at the last
moment, and to permit the stewards to take part fully in the Eucharist.
If you come to an event in the parish office, you will find the NHS poster there also. Please
take a moment to register.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding at this difficult time.
You will also have noticed that we are putting out the bins for contributions for the food bank.
Any non-perishable items which you can spare will be greatly appreciated at this moment of
increased hardship, when demand on the food banks is greater than ever.
With my thanks I send my prayers for you all.
Fr Paul

Bible Study Group

know if you can join us.
Radio 4 Woman’s Hour Power List for Our Planet 2020: Nominations Please Woman’s Hour on the Radio is seeking nominations of women who have brought about real change on
behalf of the Planet either locally, nationally or globally. The parish’s own Worth Pro-Earth group wants to help progress this excellent initiative since it is women who are usually at the front-line in meeting the
consequences of environmental change. In many countries women collect food, water and fuel all of which are becoming more expensive or scarcer as a result of major climate and ecological changes. Nominees for the award need to be making a positive contribution to our planet and environment locally, nationally or globally and as one or more of the following: decision-makers, innovators, communicators, campaigners, volunteers. Please forward your own suggestions for a Worth Abbey Parish nomination to Fr Paul or to
Alan Rew [email protected] 07787574822

with staff members delivering presentations on the latest
developments in: Finance, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Fundraising
and Gift Aid.
The current pandemic and restrictions presently in place mean that this
year's forum on Saturday 7th November will take place online.
