For me the issues of concern in this application are listed below :- - The application fails to address the highway issues around Creigiau Quarry, in particular Heol Pant Y Gored, which is clearly unsuitable for purpose. Up to 146 HGV movements per day along this road will mean vehicles being unable to pass each other, and mounting the pavement on residential streets ; - Lorry traffic movements through Creigiau and Pentyrch villages must be strictly forbidden. However, this application clearly allows this ; - The application extends the life of the quarry by some 4 YEARS adding 1.62 million tonnes of mineral reserves at the assumed extraction rate of 400,000 tonnes per annum ; - Operational hours are not reasonably fitting with a residential area. 7am is too early and HGV traffic movements should be more restricted ; - Concerns still need addressing over structural damage to houses, dust and air pollution, noise levels from blasting and machinery such as the ‘Pecker’, HGV reversing noise, traffic safety, and surface and ground water problems. As Chairman of the Quarry Liaison Committee, I welcome your comments and thoughts on this issue, but if you agree with the comments, please sign the NEW online petition (see below) and make your response to the application to Council (see opposite). Its vital that both the Council and Lafarge Tarmac hear the views of the community. WWW.PETITIONS24/CREIGIAU_QUARRY

LaFarge Tarmac have submitted a planning application to renew their mineral rights and extend parts of Creigiau quarry. The application itself does not relate to re-opening the quarry, however many of the issues are connected. LaFarge do not have a date to re-open the quarry but it clearly the intention. You can view this application at www.cardiff.gov.uk/planning and search online applications for number 15/01953/MJR. WWW.PETITIONS24/CREIGIAU_QUARRY

Mae LaFarge Tarmac wedi cyflwyno cais cynllunio i adnewyddu eu hawliau cloddio ac i ymestyn rhannau o chwarel Creigiau. Er nad yw’r cais ynddo’i hun yn gais i ail-agor y chwarel, mae llawer o’r canlyniadau posibl yn gysylltiedig ag ail-agor. Nid oes dyddiad penodol ar gyfer ail-agor y chwarel, ond mae’n glir mai dyna yw bwriad LaFarge yn y pen draw. I weld manylion y cais ewch i wefan Cyngor Caerdydd: www.cardiff.gov.uk/planning a chwilio am y rhif 15/01953/MJR yn y rhestr o geisiadau cynllunio ar-lein.

Rwy’n rhestru isod y pynciau sy’n achosi pryder i mi:-

- Nid yw’r cais yn ystyried effaith yr ail-agor ar y ffyrdd o gwmpas chwarel Creigiau, yn benodol ar Heol Pant y Gored, ffordd sy’n gwbwl anaddas i gynnal y nifer arfaethedig o loriau trymion - hyd at 146 ohonynt bob dydd – a fydd yn ceisio mynd heibio’i gilydd ac yn gorfod teithio ar hyd y palmant sy’n cyd-redeg a’r tai yn Heol Pant y Gored;

- Dylid gwahardd loriau trymion rhag teithio drwy Greigiau a Phentyrch – mae’n amlwg bod y cais cynllunio yn caniatau rhwydd hynt iddynt;

- Os caniateir y cais, bydd cyfnod y gwaith yn para am tua 4 BLYNEDD, gwaith a fydd yn golygu cloddio a symud 400,000 tunnell fetrig bob blwyddyn, neu 1.62 miliwn tunnell fetrig dros y cyfnod;

- O gofio mai ardal breswyl sy’n ffinio a’r chwarel, dylid cyfyngu’r oriau gweithredol -- mae 7 o’r gloch y bore yn rhy gynnar a dylid cyfyngu ar symudiadau’r loriau trymion rhag cychwyn mor gynnar a hyn;

- Dylid hefyd ddatgan pryder ynglyn a’r difrod posibl i dai ac adeiladau eraill, presenoldeb llwch a difwyno’r amgylchedd, lefel swn y ffrwydro a swn y peiriannau, megis y ‘Pecker’, swn y loriau, diogelwch traffig, a phroblemau’n gysylltiedig a dwr codi. Fel Cadeirydd Pwyllgor Cyswllt y Chwarel, gwerthfawrogwn dderbyn eich sylwadau ar y pwnc hwn; os ydych yn cytuno a’r sylwadau uchod, arwyddwch y petisiwn NEWYDD ar-lein (gweler isod) ac ymateb i’r cais cynllunio drwy gysylltu a’r Cyngor. Mae’n hanfodol bwysig fod y Cyngor a LaFarge Tarmac yn clywed barn y gymuned ar y pwnc hwn.
