Mrs. Brenda Brinson passed away peacefully in

Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA

following a brief acute illness that terminated a 14

year span of gradually declining health.

Brenda Jean HARRELL 1957

She was born in Grady County GA to Carson

Wilmon HARRELL and Lela Beulah SHOLAR.

She was reared in Grady County and attended local

schools until her marriage.

Brenda married Daniel Franklin BRINSON in

Cairo on 09/11/1958. She was 15; he was 18. They

had 45 memorable years together.

She was an active mother, homemaker, flower gar-

dener, and devoted to her children and grandchil-

dren.

She was a charter member of Hilltop Bible Baptist

Church and was active until declining health pre-

vented regular attendance.

She is survived by: her husband; sons, Albert Eu-

gene BRINSON currently stationed in Baghdad,

Iraq; Roger Earl BRINSON of Douglasville, GA;

daughters: Juanita BRINSON and Celiece Horns-

by of Cairo; and Frankie BRINSON Cochran of

Baytown Texas.

Reunion of Descendants of Isaac and Nettie

CHAPMAN TERRELL; Saturday June 21 and

Sunday June 22, 2003 in Central Park Building of

Chanute, KS, beginning Saturday afternoon. Cha-

nute is in southeast Kansas on Highway 169 and

near Highway 75. Relatives who descend from an-

cestor Matthew TERRELL of Champaign Co OH

and Orrin Lemuel CHAPMAN of IN and KS and

any other collateral lines are welcome. Saturday

evening meal is catered; Sunday noon meal is cov-

Memorial services for Bettie Lou COOPER Miller

71, Allen, formerly of Tyler are scheduled for 2

p.m. Saturday at Rose Heights Church, Senior

Adult Center in Tyler TX with Donnie COOPER

officiating. Arrangements are with Horn, Dickie-

Turrentine, Jackson, and Morrow Funeral Home,

Allen.

Mrs. Miller died November 10 in Allen. She was

born October 13, 1932, in Bullard to the late Curtis

and Mary Ellen DOWDY COOPER. She grew

up in Tyler and graduated from Tyler high school.

She later moved to San Antonio, Canyon Lake and

to Allen in 2000. She was a homemaker and a Lu-

theran. She was preceded in death by brothers

Weldon and Ronnie COOPER.

Survivors include her husband, Ray MILLER, Al-

len, daughter, Pamela R. MILLER, Dallas and

brothers Bennie and Gary COOPER both of Tyler,

Derrell COOPER, Longview and Donnie

COOPER, Weatherford.

Honorary pallbearers are nephews, Curt

COOPER, David COOPER, Kevin COOPER,

Jeff COOPER, Cameron COOPER and Casey

COOPER.

Family will receive friends following the service at

the church. If desired, memorials may be made to

the American Heart Association.

served in the Confederate States Army. He enlisted

11 September 1861 with Co. G, 12th Texas Caval-

ry, known as Parson's Brigade, serving with

Kaufman notable Robert A. TERRELL, his broth-

er-in-law, Andrew J. BECK and several of his

nephews. He was engaged in battles in Arkansas,

Louisiana and Tennessee, most in the vicinity of the

Mississippi River. After the war, Ned was dis-

charged in Tyler, Texas in 1865. Family lore says

he walked back to his farm from there. "

Although the Terrell Society gathers and publishes

information on all North American Terrells (etc.)

my own area of research is Terrells whose North

American origin is known or suspected to be Vir-

ginia. I do not know much about the accuracy of

the genealogy that your furnished - except with re-

gard to the Reading, England connection. There

isn't one. The Robert Terrell & Jane Baldwin con-

nection is to the Virginia Terrells whose prime an-

cestor was Richmond Terrell (b. 1624).

The author of the Book "Roger and Abigail (Uf-

ford) TERRILL and Some Descendants 1632-1993"

(Bruce W. Tyrrell), does not attempt to name the

ancestor of Roger, although Abigail's parents

known to be Thomas and Isabel Ufford. Isabell's

maiden name is unknown (may have been Camp,

Bryan, or Curtis).

It is possible that someone has discovered the par-

ents of Roger TERRILL since Mr. Tyrrell's 1993

book, but that news has not reached me.

I am descended from Richmond Terrell. In 1822

my ancestor William C. TERRELL, of Darion, Ga.,

John Clarence TERRELL is the son of Robert

Crocket TERRELL (1849-1915) and Eliza Jane

RIVERS (1855-1910). Annie Watson TER-

RELL is Annie WATSON, John’s first wife.

Bessie TERRELL is Bessie BIDDLE, John’s sec-

ond wife. Hubert P. TERRELL is John’s brother.

My records say that Hubert died in France in World

War I. Ada Pauline TERRELL is his spinster

sister.

They are part of the “Terral” family whose earliest

origin can be traced no further than William Terral

who appears in Marlboro Co, S.C. in the early

1700s. Most of this family uses the “Terral”

spelling, but branches have also adopted the “TER-

RELL” (as above) and “Terrel” spellings. I suspect

that William is a New England transplant, but have

zero proof. Most of this family migrated to Ala-

bama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. Don C.

the ones I'm looking for because they lived in the

Dallas, Texas area in the late 1800s.

The information I have on Clara B. HICKMAN

came from Lewis Family History book printed in

1883, is no longer in print but is on the Internet thru

the library and from a note book of my father's un-

cle or cousin written in 1939. I have Clara B.

HICKMAN birth as Aug. 8 18?? KY, she could

have been born in MO because the family moved to

MO before coming to Texas.

What I am going to send you is my "best guess"

based on the raw data available to me. I have spent

several years copying TERRELL/Terrill (etc.) from

the census records of the Southern states. The cen-

sus is a museum of misspelled names and screwed

up dates, but it is all we have. Here is my guess:

HOUGH. John's parents were Samuel HILTON

and Clara MILLER. I have Richmond's ancestry

back two more generations if you want it. Please

Hi, I'm Phyllis Lynn the great granddaughter of

Jasper TERRELL. I was wondering if you had

any info on him? I know he is buried in the Main

Cemetery Greenwood Cem Sedan, Kan, He was

married to Delilah Ann BRUNSWON. Jasper was

born 1861 and died 1933 ---he shot himself in his

back yard. I know some of their children's names:

Till, Otto M., Lige, Ben. Mollie (Watson), Bell

(Wendt), Ike, William, Ival (Davis). I think there

might be another one. The last name is also TER-

RIL in our family. We have some buried in Grenola

Ks. I believe. I have names on the husbands and

some on the wifes. I mainly need dates or anything

you might be willing to help me

with I will work with you. Maybe we can help each

My personal research is on Southern Terrells (etc.).

I have both a linked database as well as the census

entries on all Terrells (etc.) found in the Southern

states (as well as Ohio and Indiana) from 1790

through 1880. I am presently working on 1900, but

that will take more than a year to complete. Unfor-

tunately, I could find nothing on your Jasper

TERRELL. I suspect that his ancestors had New

Death Notice In Pageland Journal 10-12-1912

"Death of Mr. J. MasseyTERRELL of Monroe

died at the home of his son Massey TERRELL, Jr.

last Friday morning about 4 o'clock after an illness

lasting only about a week. He had been in feeble

health for a year or more, but about a week before

his death he had an attack that rendered him speech-

less. The disease had many symptoms of pneumo-

nia. Mr.TERRELL was born and raised in Lane

Creek Township and was about 75 years old. He

was a Confederate Veteran, a consistent member of

the Baptist Church of Monroe and an upright Chris-

tian gentleman. He joined the Church in Philadelph-

ia many years ago and held his membership there

until he moved to Monroe about 25 years ago. His

wife was Sarepta HARRELL, sister to the late O.

P. HARRELL and she has been dead about 10

years. Mr. TERRELL is survived by 5 children: Mr.

Massey TERRELL, Jr., his only son, the daugh-

ters are Mrs. E. J. Horton, Mrs. Sam Horton, both

of Monroe, Mrs. Mary Duffey of Johnson City,

TN, Mrs. Will Tennant of South Dakota. Burial

will be in Philadelphia in Lane Creek Township

about noon by Rev. Baxton CRAIG of Monroe."

Funeral services for Willard Bernard EVANS, age

91, a former resident of Shreveport, LA will be held

at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002 in Centuries

Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be his

grandson Rev. Art EVANS and Rev. Mike

STOWELL. Burial will follow in Centuries Me-

morial Park.

Mr. EVANS passed away in Houma, July 23, 2002

after a brief illness. He was a retired Supervisor for

Boise Cascade and a former deacon and choir

member of Keithville Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Hallie

BENGENE Evans. He is survived by his wife

Amy M. EVANS, two sons, Charles EVANS of

Houma, LA and Kenneth EVANS and wife Carol

of Palm Springs, FL . . a sister, Vergie Sue Davis

of Anacoco, LA and numerous grand and great

grandchildren.

Death claimed Mrs. Dudley TERRELL, age 62,

Sunday morning at 11:00 o'clock at her home at 69

South Marion Street.

Born March 16, 1886 in Brown County she was

formerly Mary Elizabeth BARGER, the daughter

of James BARGER and Emeline ROSENBAUM.

She is survived by the husband, a daughter, Martha

Bolin, a step-son, Albert TERRELL, Port Hurgon,

Michigan, two brothers, George and Oliver

BARGER, of Indianapolis, a sister Jessie Mesmer

of this city, two grandsons, Phillip and Stephen

BOLIN, and a granddaughter, Barbara Ann

BOLIN, of Port Huron, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2

o'clock at the Wilhite and Son funeral home with

burial at South Park. Friends may call at the funer-

al home after 5 o'clock this afternoon.

William Dudley (Dud) TERRELL

Death Notice Feb. 27, 1965

Sunday morning services have been set for William

Dudley (Dud) TERRELL of 59 South Marion,

who died Friday morning at the Morgan County

Memorial Hospital.

The 10 o'clock services will be held at the Cure and

Hensley Chapel, with the Rev. Virgil BAUGH,

conducting them. Burial will be in South Park

Cemetary.

Failing in health for some time, the 80 year-old

long-time Martinsville resident had been hospital-

ized since Wednesday.

The son of John W. TERRELL and Margaret

ENGLAND, he was born Oct. 20, 1884, in Daviess

County. He wife, the former Mary Elizabeth

BARGER, whom he married November 1913, pre-

ceded him in death in 1947.

Mr. TERRELL, who came to Martinsville many

years ago from Washington, owned a taxi service

here for 30 years. He and Frank PHELPS were

partners in the Phelps and Terrell Taxi Service un-

til the death of Mr. Phelps when he continued with

the business.

Surviving him are a daughter Mrs. Omer Bolin of

R. R. 2; a son Albert TERRELL of Port Huron,

Michigan; a brother Edward TERRELL of Sioux

City, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Lockhart of In-

dianapolis, and Mrs. Stella Cravens of Little York,

and a half brother in Martinsville, James TER-

RELL. He also leaves three grandchildren and

three great-grandsons. A brother preceded him in

death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 o'clock

this afternoon.
