The CollectOctober
2015Volume 3Issue 10
Father God, no matter where we are, where we are going, or what we are doing, we know that we can find our help in you. We know that you are our helper and the upholder of our lives. We thank you that you not only watch over us with diligence, but that you will guide us so that we will not fall, so that we will not stumble. We thank you today for Pastor Larry and celebrate his fifty years of being your shepherd, and for being our pastor, and our friend. Guide our Service Team, team leaders, and members who will meet on Saturday to write the vision for our church. Help them to know that we can do everything through God who gives us strength.Lord in your mercy……..hear our prayer

We had 125 worshiping this morning at Word of God Lutheran Church. Following worship we had our monthly Chapel Chat with updates from the Call
Committee, the NALC Convention delegates, the Property committee, and Thrivent Financial.
Vija and Mary both focused
on today's Gospel: Jesus said
to them, “If anyone would
come after me, let him deny
himself and take up his cross
and follow me. For whoever
would save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for
my sake and the gospel's will
save it
Matt Drury was
assisting minister; Andi
Laaker was presiding

A beautiful day today, in the mid-80s, and 91 of us were inside at Word of God Lutheran worshiping our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Our pastor today was Dr. Gemechis
Buba, who preached a stirring
sermon on Jesus Christ, the Alpha
and the Omega, and following Him

Thanks Joe Bowler!
We at Word of God Lutheran Church continue to support Redeemer Soup Kitchen
monthly. We provide support by staffing the kitchen on the 5th Monday and
Tuesday of the month.
Through the M.O.M. Ministry, we have provided approximately 400 pairs of socks,
as well as amenity kits. These kits are always a hit with the 150 to 200
individuals who visit the soup kitchen daily.
WoGL has 4 to 5 individuals who tirelessly volunteer each of the days we are
responsible for staffing. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, I invite you to
join us in the soup kitchen. It really is a rewarding experience to interact with
these individuals and provide a bit of peace and joy to their day.
We meet at WoGL parking lot at 8:45 AM and carpool to Redeemer Lutheran
Church, downtown Atlanta. Once at Redeemer, we set-up, serve lunch, and are
back in Peachtree City by 12:30. You can volunteer using the tear off sheet in the
weekly bulletin or by contacting Cathy Moore at [email protected].
