With harvest underway most have found the season challenging and unpredictable to say the least. Unfortunately for some who missed out on opening rains had their fate determined early which allowed them to start planning for next season, while everyone else is counting on a mild October to judge 2017 as a year that delivered or just scraped through.

The uncertainty earlier created some logistical issues within our operation as to where we would need to increase numbers or pull back on levers based around customer confidence and demand due to the dry start. This is still having an impact on branches as many customers understandably werem’t unsure of what lay ahead and as each week gets closer to hay or harvest season, many will still opt to get last minute repairs completed.

If you think this maybe the case please liaise with your service manager to ensure we can meet the time frames. In saying this I would like to recognize and thank staff who have been willing to travel to other dealerships and been prepared to put in some longer hours to keep up with the service work demand throughout the season.

Also we thank customers for your continued support of our Harvester Inspection program, the program has allowed us spread work across the months leading into September and October which enabled aftermarket teams to better plan and execute new and used pre-deliveries and any late servicing work.

In the dealerships we are busy completing Harvester Inspection Program (HIP) work, delivering new harvesters and recondition used harvesters for resale. If you are in the market for a used machine please let us know so we can design a package that suits your needs, either through finance or the level of input into your expectations around reconditioning.

In late August John Deere revealed some new and exciting products that are suited to our farming area. Keep an eye out for the new 7 Series Harvester, 9RX Narrow Track with adjustable track settings and the Carbon Fiber Boom with Exacta Ply nozzles on the R4045 sprayer. These units are all offering something that will be a major advantage in the way growers operate.

Until next time good luck with harvest and hay season. Craig Walker

Safe at workOur Pringles Crouch tech injuries are probably similar to some farm injuries.

Ladies on the LandA group of about 15 Women in Ag from the Eastern Eyre PING group (Ping stands for Partners in Grain) have been doing a series of five crop production workshops for women. Their third workshop focussed on spraying. Representative Theresa Flavell said Ken Webber (Nufarm rep) spoke to us about the different plant stages and when it’s safe to apply herbicides to a crop. “Wonder how many farmers know about the Zadoks growth scale?” she said. “Following this we visited Pringles Crouch at Cleve where Branch Manager Danny Nagel and Sales Consultant Jimmy Llewelyn gave the group an hour lesson on the fundamentals of tow behind sprayers with a walk around the Croplands Pegasus 8036 Boomspray.

“The boys explained the main components of the boomspray to us – tanks and pumps, booms and nozzles, also some of the safety features. We also learnt the importance of regularly cleaning the nozzles. A great simple rundown and we thank them very much for their time,” Theresa said.

We had an informative session and great input from the ladies on the day said Branch Manager Danny Nagel.

We are always happy to educate or be involved in your groups or workshops. Speak to your local branch manager if you have any special requests

Using the canvas provided by 6 silo cells measuring 60 metres wide and about 25 metres high, Cam Scale, a mural artist from Melbourne, has transformed the grain silos into a magnificent landscape. Over 26 days, using brushes, rollers and spray guns to slap on 200 litres of paint, Cam has depicted Kimba’s youth, future and agricultural heritage in one grand work of art.

“The Silver Sponsorship provided by Pringles Crouch has been invaluable in helping reach the $100,000 required to complete the project debt free.” Heather Baldock, Chair of the Kimba Community Development Group.

This has been a tremendous community project led by the Igniting Kimba Working Group, a subcommittee of the Kimba Community Development Group. Already the district is reaping the benefits of this fabulous public community art, with a marked increase in the number of visitors dropping into the town to check out the Silo Art then staying on for a while to see what else Kimba has to offer.

    Great value!

This 2WD garden tractor is a 2009 manufacture. It features a diesel engine, hydro-static transmission with twin touch foot pedals and a 62” mid-mount mower deck to power through the grass. The comfortable operators station has an 18 inch seat with 7 inches of adjustment, tilt steering wheel, a cupholder, and storage compart-ment. Power steering and cruise control make driving a pleasure. Height adjustment is simple using the in-built hydraulic deck lift. The back towbar allows you to add accessories like a cart or tow-behind sprayer to make this a versatile unit you’ll use all year round. #21816

    What’s new from John Deere?

New from CoolamonCoolamon Chaser Bins have recently released a multi-purpose machine, designed for year-round use.

The new Seed & Super unit can be used as a normal functioning chaser bin giving you no restrictions at harvest. It can also be used as a seed and super unit and be fited with an optional fertiliser spreader.

This multi-purpose functionality can decrease your capital expenditure & cut operating costs. The unit is simple and effective to use as a fully hydraulically operated chaser bin. Cleaning the bin is a breeze with a removeable conveyor cassete for ease of maintenance.

The Coolamon Seed & Super Unit features

    • Dual walking beam• High quality 2 pack paint system• Curved sides for extra strength & aesthetics• Folding auger linkage system - 3 point hitch folding auger system for variable speed• Rear door allows for easy access inside the bin and reduces WH&S risks• 3m wheel centres• Delivery auger tube is made out of line pipe• Roll-over tarp• Oversize flags & signs• Hydraulic kicker chute & hydraulic jack

The seed and super unit is fully hydraulically operate via remote with hydraulically controlled shut-off slides. The hydraulically operated diverter plate allows you to switch between seed and super without causing contamination. The diverter plate is then removed to give you a normal chaser bin with a fast unloading rate.

When used as a chaser bin you can expect unload rates of 10-12T per minute (5-6T per auger), and decreased damage to lupins and chickpeas due to the conveyor belt acting as a cross auger.

The optional spreader attachement gives you spreading widths of 36 m for fertiliser and 50m for single super. It is capable of spreading all dry granular products and the ability to spread two different products at once.

New 9RX narrow optionThe addition of narrow track spacing options to the 9RX lineup has increased their capability to deliver a high-performance tractor to producers.

These options give producers the ideal track widths for both row-crop and broad-acre farming. They add to the versatility of the 9RX for producers who desire a large tractor that can handle most jobs on the farm.

The undercarriage provides similar benefits to producers as the wide undercarriage with few design changes to accommodate the 457.2mm (18in) and 610mm (24in) tracks. A variety of track spacing options are available to suit the narrow undercarriage - 2032mm (80 in), 2235,2mm (88 in) or 3048mm (120 in), with track spacing options pre-set from the factory.

The sealed carriage mid-roller is carried over from John Deere’s proven wide undercarriage and 2-track tractors.

Ride quality and cab comfort are maximised with the robust cab suspension system under the CommandViewTM III cab to offer unmatched operator comfort, while the integrated precision ag solutions including the CommandARMTM console with 4600 CommanCenterTM controls offer exceptional in-field precision.

An optional Category 5 to Category 4 drawbar factory equipped conversion kit is available for operators who have Category 4 implements that cannot be converted to Category 5.

Tne new narrow track 9RX tractors are currently available for forward order.
