Greetings from Alaska! I am on a two week cruise and apologize for missing the July meeting. However, all of you will

have a great time enjoying ice cream floats and winning big time at Acacia Quilters' Game Night with Vice-President

At Large Mary Ann West at the helm. Many thanks Mary Ann!

Many thanks to the 2014-2015 Board for making this past year so very special.

June’s meeting was wonderful! Acacia celebrated its ELEVENTH birthday with a delicious potluck that made many

tummies happy and a yummy birthday cake. The president’s quilt was presented, the outgoing board was thanked and

the new board was installed.

Extra-special Congratulations go to Mary Hicks! Acacia celebrated her 101½ birthday with the birthday song and a

special cake.

I would also like to thank everyone for the lovely chili pepper President's Quilt which featured cute, beautiful and

creative blocks. More thanks to come later.

We have enjoyed eleven great years so far with Acacia Quilt Guild. However, the best is yet to come!

I would like to thank everyone who accepted a Board and/or a Committee position this year. We still have need of a

Historian, Parliamentarian and Publicity Chairperson as well as someone to assist at the Membership Table. If any of

these positions interest you, please contact me to get the ball rolling. We will continue to have a wonderful and

friendly guild and I am delighted to be your returning President!!!

Acacia is a volunteer organization and we have many accomplishments to our name especially due to our Philanthropy

Committee. Approximately 350 quilts have been made and donated as well as pillowcases and stockings. The number

of donations is truly amazing considering that we are a smaller guild.

Acacia will continue experimenting with new activities, a variety of different speakers covering techniques (old and

new) while increasing the number of workshops and providing more opportunities for members to quilt.

What will never change are the wonderful members who form the heart and soul of Acacia. The desire to have a good

time as a guild whether it is taking a class, sewing philanthropic quilts, making new friends, etc., will remain the same

as well.

If you have any problems or need help in any way, please do not hesitate to give me a call or send an email. We’re all

in this together!

Mary Ann West

Hello Ladies,

I want to thank you for allowing me to serve you as V.P. at large. As some of you know I am a cancer survivor and Acacia has been God's way of blessing me with some of the most wonderful, creative women I have ever met. I love Acacia and it keeps me busy.

We need you Ladies to help us make this a super great year. We need Volunteers for several different positions.

A Volunteer is a person who believes that people can make a difference and is willing to prove it.

I also need names for the shout out.

Our July meeting will be our Summer Social with plenty of Ice Cream. Come prepared for Game Night and the chance to win Fat Quarters galore.

THOUGHT!!!!!!!!!!! - Remember that half the Joy of Achievement is in the Anticipation.

Blessings.

We will meet July 28th at Phyllis Victor’s house. We work on kits for the guild or other philanthropy events. All are welcome! Many hands make light work. Join us for an evening of good works.

Any questions or directions please call me at 714-642-1127.

I am open to suggestions for speakers for our meetings and workshops. I am currently working on the 2016 - 2017 calendar.

*Acacia Quilt Marketplace

The board has decided to try something new. We envisioned renting tables to “vendors” (members of our guild and other people willing to rent a table) who will sell various items (not necessarily sewing/quilting related) which they will provide. The vendor keeps 100% of their sales. Acacia Quilt Guild collects only the rent for the table.

Vendors would set up before the meeting and sell their wares until the meeting is called to order. Selling would resume at the break, and then final sales could be made after the meeting is adjourned. Vendors are responsible for their products, for collecting payments for items sold and making change for cash sales.

Table Rental Price: Members $10.00 Non-members $15.00

There will be a sign up sheet at the next meeting for those interested in renting a table.

Hospitality Lisa Sullivan, Wendy Dillon, and Darryl Thomas

We are having an "ICE CREAM SOCIAL"! Its summer time and all you July Birthday members should be sharing your favorite snacks or beverage with your fellow members. If it’s your birthday month or you just want to share a goody we can't wait to taste what’s in store for us..................................................

The Guild will be making some kind of ice cream topped soda delight for us to add to our table of yummy goodies that you bring to share. Please let the membership table know that you are bringing a shared treat (birthday or not) so you can claim your EXTRA DOOR PRIZE TICKET.

Thank you to my helpers/princesses

Wendy, Darrell and many of our members

Also Please take your dish if it’s not a throw away dish and please check with Phyllis Campbell for dishes or clothing that has been left behind by our members. If you have let us borrow something that you wanted back please collect it now as we are cleaning out the cobwebs. Items not taken will be donated to those in need.

We are quilting in the park! Well that's kind of what we are doing.......................... We are sharing our love of quilting and listening to the Buena Park Concerts in the Park Summer Program.

We have a table in the park (Boisserance Park) on Wednesday nights where we share information about the Guild and sell some boutique items and raffle a summer quilt. If you can sit awhile with us we would love to see you there. Please call me so I can give you some tips to make your evening enjoyable.

Special call out for Door Prize donations for the Concert goers. We had an IHOP $10.00 certificate for the June 17th concert, it does not need to be quilt or sewing related to be loved by the winner.

260 YES 260

We are looking to make 260 pillow cases and 260 stockings for our Christmas donation this year. Please sew up the kits you have and please come and get some more. This is our labor of love for the holiday season. You are the ones who make the season bright for those who may not see too much light in their world during the holiday times.

Thank you in advance for your TIME, TALENT AND DONATIONS to this very special event from our Guild to our Community (Military Families - Thomas House- Challenged Adults Program).

We will be having our game night at the July meeting so bring a friend or two.

We will be playing Black Jack for Fat Quarters. There will be a onetime buy in for $5.00 for 15 fat quarters.

Additional far quarters may be purchased for $10.00 for 20 fat quarters and $20.00 for 50 fat quarters (best buy).

This is a fund raiser so everyone present is asked to at least buy the $5.00 pack even if you don’t play the game.

There will be a free pattern given for a scrap quilt that will also be on display at the meeting.

If you win lots of fat quarters and you can’t use them or don’t want them you can always donate them back to the guild.

Let’s have fun.
