destitute, disabled and very poor, who are living below the poverty line. From the nineteen fifties some

orphans were reared up, educated and rehabilitated by the Government through establishing the state

orphanages named Sarkari Shishu Paribar (State Children Home). Since the inception of the Department of

Social Services in 1961, the responsibility of running the state orphanages (State Children Home) had been

shifted to the DSS (The Department of Social Services). There are 85 Sarkari Shishu Paribars under the DSS all

over the country with a capacity of 10,300 orphans. Among which 43 institutions are earmarked for boys, 41

for girls and 1 for both sexes.

Many children wont know about history of our country unless an adult takes the step to teach them... MIME

FOR CHILDREN is an organization which performed only for children. MIME FOR CHILDREN wants to teach

that being patriotic means loving, supporting and defending ones country. Children can learn about

constitution of Bangladesh, the declaration of independence and the bill of rights through a patriotic mime

production. Basically, MIME FOR CHILDREN wants to develop a sense of patriotism begins with watching a

    patriotic mime production

  • Mime for Children is a voluntary Initiative. Its a concept more than performance. Mime for Children committed to

issues. Its a 3E (Entertainment, Engagement & Education) based conceptual approach of Mime for Children.

Presently Mime for Children experimenting to shape up Contemporary Mime based performance style for the

different classes of Children audiences like indigenous, rural, urban etc. There are 11 of ethnic community are

consisting at Bandarban (Hilly District) in Bangladesh.

Here puppet is became one of the most interesting alternative communication tools for the Children. Besides

Children have less experience about Mime. Popularize the form (Mime) to the Children in ethnic community; puppet

has taken with Mime as experimental application! It is mostly Challenging but Interesting & Children love it very

much! This is the time of 15 July 2015. There is a community based Children space at a ingenuous community in

Bandarban Hill districts; Bangladesh. The Children Space program is facilitating by Human Rights based organization

named BITA. There are 11 of indigenous communities consisting in the Hill District of Bandarban, Bangladesh. The

community we visited is named Bawm at Faruq para under central Sub District. A group of children are invited to

observe as audiences of a 30 minutes performance. The age of the Children is 8-16 years old. When we meet with

the children they did know nothing what is going to happening actually; they know only a performance is will be

happen! Some of the Children are playing indoor games, some are observing us. The performance facilitating team

invited the children to sit together at the children space premises.

Very beginning the children observed that a man starts for getting make him up. The Children got more curious how

a man changing himself as a performer by holding a character in his face supporting make up materials. During the

time the facilitators asked a few of question to the children that what they are observing & their experiences about

    the observation?

Completing the makeup & ready for performance the character arranges the performance by the support of

children. The performer performs solo mime performance based on Mime illusion with getting puppet. Then the part

of process the children are invited to get perform with improvisation.

    Improvisation!

Impassively two children willingly participated in process. Of them one is boy & another is girl.

Both the child had held the puppet & took their position for performing! Oh my god! I still surprise!

Actually the children dont know what is going on or what they will perform! but they enjoyed a lot of!

It was difficult & challenging the situation on that moment developing composition of mime illusion, developing

puppet character by the children, different of mother tongue, communication with Mime & Puppet character

A few of Mime Sketches The Tree

A seed comes out from the Earth as a seedling. With the touch of the Nature it grows and be a big green-tree. A friendship between human being and a tree makes the water sweet in thirst. But when one cuts the tree then the civilization also destroys gradually.

This is our life Children are influenced and affected by a deep attention when they play with. Usually children are wicked, stubborn, arrogant, bold and sympathize with an endless curiosity. A clash and co-operation in need is common with them. This is the life of a child. Children make them in this way

Death of beauty A fish, a deer and a bird. One of them lives in water, one in land and the other flies in the sky. Their three dimensional movement is a part of the beauty to a nature-lover. But fishing net, a sling or a shooting gun can kill the beauty. This death of the beauty not only imbalances the nature but also makes the killer a nightmare with the black mask.

A Naughty Child A child. He doesnt want to study now, he wants to play. But he has to read a book with the pressure of his mother. He has no attention in reading so he plays with toys in absence of his mother. Suddenly his mother noticed this and tries to punish him. There is an entertainment.
